@ownegman when inside caves....we use glow sticks. we'll drop them to mark where we have been. draw arrows, or use rocks to point in directions we go in. so we know were we have and haven't been.

the whole cave looked man man most likely a mine with the pillars holding it up, the rocky place you were walking through to get there looked like an old query. which also leads me to believe the cave was man made, the structure if it was close to the query was probably used to pull cable to lift out stone from it.

you guys gotta get some gear and go back :P one time i went spelunking and it was fucking awesome. we solved forks in the road problem using numerals written on our glow sticks witch we blue tacked to the wall :3

we did find a bunch of crystal areas and those were kinda cool, but we gave up after we started hearing things and paranoia kicked in

Need to get a hand held gps and when you lave your car you can mark it.The way mak fallow the gps to get to you car its easyer to do.i do it alot when iam geo hunting.

@photosbychristensen finding the direction of the car was never an issue. the problem was the terrain. rivers, lakes, cliffs, jagged rocks, ravines, forest etc...meant we had to travel around lots of things. getting back to the car was easy once we found the cave.
