  • would this be loud enough to gig with while staying relatively clean?

  • When you play with gain how do you typically set the presence? I have a Handsome Devil 15w and I seem to always need to completely turn it off.

  • Hi,

How do you have the reverb pedal hooked up?

  • @axedoc2010 Hi. It's just from guitar to pedal. Strait into the front end input of the amp.

  • @musicgoon: Okay thank you. Does the reverb sound okay even with the gain cranked with this set-up?

  • I'm waiting for one of these to arrive. Cannot wait! However, listening to your demo, it it clear to my ears that your tone is 98% under your fingers. You've got that blues feel for sure. Your making my work laptop shake it's little speakers. Nice playin'.

  • Very impressive bro. CHEERS!!!

  • play that funky music, white boy

  • Is that the blackheart alone ? or a are you running it trough other effects ?

  • @orlandoontiveros Just a Holy grail reverb. Other than that, it's pure tone!

  • is it my eyes or the action on your guitar is quite high?

  • @tokyosan1 The action is fairly normal. I watched the video again an the angle of the camera makes it look like i have the guitar setup ridiculously high. Weird that it looks that way...

  • Sweet!!!

  • could you tell me how you wired the head into the cab? i have the head, and im looking at building a 4x12, and lost my manual so i dont know how to plug the head up right, for 16 ohm 4x12

  • Is it a big diffrence between Blackhart eminence speakers and celestion green back speakers?

  • @MichalHomie The Blackheart eminence are brighter, a bit harsher and have a higher watt rating (harder to push). Greenbacks are warmer and smooth, more vintage sounding i like them both, cuz my buddy has a blackheart and the eminence in it sounds pretty damn good. but i Love the greenback tone. hope that helps man.

  • @swishitjoey

so eminence are bette to heavy metal, yes;) ?

  • @MichalHomie I would think so for sure man. the greenbacks could do it, but i'm thinking the blackheart's eminence will do it better.

  • @swishitjoey thx man ;]

  • Awesome! This amp with a 2x12 cab is loud enough to gig on bars and small stages? Thanks

  • Dunno if it's just my playing, but my lil Giant head doesn't like single coils, I have yet to dial in a decent sound with my strat. And the overdrive I get when it's cranked actually sounds pretty solid-state. It likes humbuckers though, and loves pedals

  • Are you kidding me?? When I hooked it out with a strat I was like WOW! I think it sounds very good with the pickups on a standard fender strat.

  • @MyLifeChanger I've got an American deluxe strat with those horrid noiseless pickups, hopefully swapping them out for a vintage '60s set will help. Damn though, the tone in this demo is amazing!

  • @zaksmid Ah, I see. I'm sure you'll get the tone you're looking for! Yeah, I totally agree. An amazing amp at an amazing price!

  • @zaksmid I paid to put those noiseless SCNs into my USA VG strat! I thought they sounded better than the stock set

  • @tonygoodall Guess it really depends on the guitar; I mean, mine just sounded too weak and lifeless with them. But yeah, a VG strat with all those fancy tone options would sound much cleaner and more crisp. Glad you're enjoying them

  • Make a vid with the volume cranked for saturation ! nice video.

  • Check out the GUITAR GRISTLE

    DVD with Greg Koch!

    The part on vibrato.

  • damb man, nice fucking tone!!!!!!!!!

  • hehe. You sound like Comic book guy:-)

    nice playing though.

  • very nice playing man!

  • what a warm tone you got man really cool

  • I don't think it's the black heart. You have the tone in your fingers. Respect!!!

  • could you please tell me how hard you have to push this amp to get a nice 70's rock distortion and how loud is it?

  • The amp will give a 70's distortion at about 12 o clock on the volume. At three watts it's easily loud enough to get you evicted from an apartment. The 5 watt setting can easily be heard above a drumset. You could easily play a club or bar with this head. you won't get much clean headroom for gigging.

  • sounds beautiful

  • youve got an amazing tube amp

now get a guitar worthy or driving it!! =]

    fenderfenderfenderfender-cough- notsquier-cough-

  • I've got a few guitars,

I just like the sound of the single coils. The squire is my ol' standby, but your right, I could use something a bit more snazzy. But for being a bunch of glue and plywood, it still sounds halfway decent.

  • I meanto write "you're". I sould check for typos before posting.

  • Don't get down on squier. I knew a killer jazz fusion guitarist who played a beat-to-hell, stock '80s squier through a Mesa/Boogie Mark IV. After the gig, he's have guys coming up asking him if he was playing a Custom Shop Relic'd strat. With his fingers and a singing tube amp, you honestly could not tell it was a squier.

  • im not down on squier, just they are generally considered to be the lower end of fender's lines, and most people would prefere proper fenders (but not mexican fenders)

    japanese + USA = win

  • Fender - by squier! ;) And squier makes some quality products theses days aswell anyways!

  • Very Nice !!!!!!!

  • excelent review for clear tone. Delight

  • I really like that tone and some cool playing to. Keep on.

  • up some bluesy playing with a backtrack, would be really nice ; ) with some natural break up drive from the amp : O

  • What an AMAZING amp! God damn!

  • Sweet tone.

  • No I live in Seattle and build Airplanes?

  • you build airplanes? thats cool

  • Who the hell is this Russel Lavery??? Never heard of him?

  • It's you!!! :O

Don't you teach Astronomy at IVC?

  • Russel Lavery?

  • stars stars stars. when are we going to the planetarium again?

  • Mr. Lavery?

  • Astronomy 101?

  • im thinking of teaming this amp up with a 120w twin cab with celestion vintage 30's

    yes?no?

    recommendations?

thanks very much for the video

  • I have a single Vintage 30 that i've connected the head to. It's extremely punchy! The 5w setting gives a lot more presence than the 3w. I think that sounds like a great idea! Let me know if you get a video together....

  • ill try my best pal, thanks for the reply

    regards

    jamie

  • Nice demo ! Hey your cab sounds great too.Yep we likes our Blackhearts

  • Thanks man. I'm really happy with the amp!

  • I've got one too about a week ago. I also love this little amp. Cool playing and a lovely sound. Are you using a Marshall 1960 cab?

  • he said he was using a fender 4x12

  • Thanks! I appreciate the feedback. I'll see if I cam post some more about the amp.

  • nice playing nice tones nice amp! cheers!
