A previous commenter said that a paper clip is a great green stuff sculpting tool, and I concur. As well, an old White Dwarf magazine article on "stupid hobby tricks" suggested using a hammer and a small modeling anvil (or other hard surface) to flatten the end of the clip into a blade-like shape for additional versatility. (This was, of course, before they came out with their oh-so-superior Citadel branded tools.)
Great video, BTW. Always good to remember how handy simple things can be.
I prefer "English" to "British" so no need to apologize LOL
I use a very similar tool to the paper clip for similar jobs - metal jewellery wire! I have various gauges ranging from 0.18mm to 3mm.
I use tiny cuts of copper or aluminium wire for creating nails for my models, a longer cut of wire for applying superglue and cleaning paint lids etc etc I also use it for adding intricate detail to my models.
Thank you very much for making this video. How difficult do you find it to find a pin vise bit that is a good size to drill holes of a good size for using paperclips as pinning material? do you know of a way to get pin vise bits in a set instead of buying them individually?
I has been a time since you have posted this one but I use Vallejo Game color, I might want to try Model Color some day but for now Game Color is great. I love Vallejo paints they paint very easy and Fine, I have never used Reaper paints it is more dificult for me to get those paints here over in The Netherlands.
Thank you for the tip.I recently purchased a pewter sicarius model and the back pack that had a banner had broken off and i didnt had any idea how to repair it until I stumble this video,it gave the idea to stick a paper clip on the banner pole and to the back and place some super glue and surprise surprise it was together again lol.
Been awhile since I've commented, but been following you since almost day 1. I love Vallejo paints, but I'm also a huge fan of the GW ones - especially the GW washes. Usually stay away from reaper, just mo of course though.
I love Reaper metallics for lining my other metallics. I don't mind Vallejo because they have an almost identical color catalog as GW but they also carry some colors that GW discontinued. I use some P3s but their metallics are very bad and often are dried up even in a new unopened pot. I wish any of them was easy for me to get without going through an online retailer.
I also found paper clips useful for when citadel colours need to be watered while inside the pots after old age. I added wawter and stirred and it worked like a charm. Gotta agree with you on this one. Paperclips are VITAL.
Funny how the simplest things are often the most useful:) What would you say is the best paints for just general usage. Volaho or Reaper? GOOD LUCK with the auctions Man and hope everything is going well for you!!!!!:)
If you add plain water to the reaper they will work well for you. The problem with white cap vallejo is they are vinyl based and not good for wargaming, the paint scratches easy and will eventuall rub off in spots. If you want to use vallejo I would reccomend the grey cap game brand colors which are resin based. They deal with abrasions better.
Oh wow I was thinking the same thing, the mighty paper clip.
I recently bought a bunch just for pinning but then I discovered it was the ultimate tool for green stuff too. Now I never really liked working with green stuff but now with a paper clip you bend the end just a tiny bit and you have the perfect sculpting tool. Perfect for getting excess green stuff when your filling a hole and awesome in tight spaces.

Doesn't everyone use a pin or paperclip to unclog their paints and glues?
quigglesquaggs 2 years ago
why do you use thos pin drills? I prefer the one with a wodden ball on the end much easyer and more comfortable to use.

I've noticed even New...
The Reapers are clogged...
Green Floral wire is real cheap and works for all those aplications as well:)

For high quality miniature painting, nothing beats Vallejo Model Colors.
Reaper paints, in my opinion, have WAY too much thinner in them. It makes them dry in a very sticky manner.

there are a game colour valljeo set that are the same as GW paints, they are accrilics, so using them wont do any harm.
