  • Jim Courier ftw.

  • Why is Robert Trujillo in this video?, of all videos to see him in I never thought.

  • Where was this video shot?

  • @w5cdt Good question. I'd like to go there.

  • A tanks mate to Dennis Elsas at WFUV for playing this and making me a believer again in that thing called a radio - Cheers Abbie

  • lol he broke a string.

  • 0:32 Robert Trujillo.I'm here because of Trujillo

  • @theballyerboy Whatever gets you in the door. Careful - bluegrass gets in your blood.

  • nice door handles hehe

  • I'm here because of Trujillo

  • EPIC RESTART BUTTON ----> 0:00

  • What's interesting to me is that Rob is playing a stand-up bass!! What serious talent !

  • chris thile is da man.....dolin :D

  • I wonder if nickel creek ever used to do this in music shops

  • ROBER TRUJILLO haha no u belong in the metal section hehe

  • one thing i love about nickel creek is how happy they always look when there playing

  • It's an Irish Bazouki

  • Ear candy.

  • Is that Jim Courier?

  • I believe that's a Bouzouki Chris is playing in the video

  • I wish this happened at my job :(

  • I wanna just walk into a music store and break into song now!

  • Respond to this video... it's a traditional greek instrument can't quite remember the name. If you wiki Nicklecreek it'll tell you though

  • what kind of mandolin is that the neck is longer than a normal one

  • Too gorgeous to be true !

  • i still don't know why rob trujillo is in this video....

  • @akenawell because awesomeness

  • @akenawell I have a feeling it's because he (Rob) enjoys playing with other badassed musicians.

  • @akenawell Robert is rumored to be a big fan of Bluegrass and Nickel Creek is one of his favorite groups

  • @akenawell because every once in awhile the music gods grant us something like this!!

  • @akenawell yeah well who cares how just be grateful they got him

  • @akenawell because he is a fan of all good music and he plays bass?

  • @akenawell lol why not? ; )

  • 180,000 views, huh? So.... subtracting mine that means about... 5000 people have watched this video. XD

  • 3:28 the guy started some popular song do you know it somebody?

  • Thumbs up if you were looking for a funny song!

  • there is no speaker loud enough to play this song in it's full glory.

  • @umphreak183 Amen ! ! ! ! ! !

  • fuck vevo

  • Trujillo can truly just do anything.

  • you know you are cool when the future bassist of Metallica is playing along with you !

  • I can listen to this on repeat for hours. it helps me concentrate.

  • WOW is that really Trujillo??

  • @dnk287 Yeap ! But he did not play the bass during the recording of the song.

  • @dnk287 Yes, it is Robert. This song is about 8-9 years old approx.

  • This is fucking awesome...

  • This was the first song from them I heard off a friend's ipod. I went to look for some more of this awesome instrumental music to find their songs mainly have vocals :(

can anyone recommend some progressive bluegrass like this that's strictly instrumental?

  • Lol, there is so much fighting about this video. Just sit back and enjoy. Besides, Chris Thile is the real hero of this anyhow. =D

  • you fuckers the bow you're hearing is a fucking cello.... its the god damn video that doesn't have it jesus, its a plucked bass part clearly

  • @boonexy bass, not cello, hehe...

  • wish i had that kinda talent

  • Upset because bass player is such a homo ...

not playing the actual part ... no bow, et cetera

Edgar Meyer doing the real work here for sound (obviously)

  • @Machiavelli70 u dont need 2 have a a bow to play an upright bass. if u were playing a cello and were playin classical type music, yes, then u wud use a bow. but 4 bluegrass, country erc u dont use a freaking bow. thats retarded. they all did great.

  • @cuntrychick94 If you listen to the music, it's a bowed part. It makes me doubt Trujillo actually played the bass for the song. And bluegrass quite often uses the bow--listen to anything Bluegrass by Edgar Meyer.

Trujillo's an alright bassist, he just looks painfully out of place in this video.

  • @Machiavelli70 yeah i agree except i dont like trujillo it seems weird to me that he is here he is a metal bass player it looks like he has never touched a double bass before in the video

  • @addyr100 not true... Trujillo is a master of bass - he has played punk, metal, funk, and now bluegrass. I remember him in Suicidal Tendencies, Infectious Groove, Ozzy... then Metallica. This guy has been around FOREVER - but now he has finally hit his gravy ticket with Metallica.

And... the intro on the bass is done with a bow there is no Cello in this song.

  • @avgjoegeek i never said it was a cello and though trujillo might be good at electric bass he is not good at double bass

  • @Machiavelli70 there are parts where u hear both. and he is using a bow apart of the time.

  • @Machiavelli70 thats actually the bass player for metalica and yes that IS him in the music video, not edgar

  • Go go Edgar Meyer on bass!

  • @joebus94 first good comment ive seen all night. in all the videos ive seen. obviously you have a level of maturity to you. bouttime.

  • just heard this on radio.. GOT CHILLS

  • all i can see when i hear this is people drinking smoothies. so whimsical.

  • I love this song! :)

  • i girl is beautiful

  • Yes, It is the Bass Guitarist from Metallica. Robert plays a variety of different types of Music. He plays well in all. :-) My cousin is very talented.

  • @moribeone they say that alot of times when they are sitting around in frisco recording or whatever, and they cant find rob, they head to the frisco symphony cuz he likes to sit in and play with them.. a second S&M album with robert would be insane

  • isnt that the bassist from metallica?

  • @IAmJimmothy you know they say he had a hard time holding back during the shooting of that, that he just wanted to push it farther and keep up with him... the song wouldve turned out really different had he been the one to write the bass, a bass solo on the middle wouldve been a cool addition

  • dont be steve perry sara. youre smart enough to know what formula you had. if you get it maybee you can convince those other guys to play. you guys split and i miss you . we miss you.i wish u only knew the hights u were about to hit.

  • hahahaha, I love the part at the end where he turns in the mandolin with the broken string.

  • It's an Octave Mandolin. Not a bouzouki. Not a mandola. An octave mandolin. It's tuned the same as a mandolin, but one octave lower. I own 3 of them, a Weber, a Luna, and a Trinity College.

  • Robert Trujillo! I really like Nickel Creek but just found this. He is way too good for Metallica imo. Nice to see his range of musical tastes though.

  • @MNorton1972 A million bucks in his bank account claim differently ;) ghehe

  • Bass player ( Metalicia )

  • Its called a Bouzouki (bah-ZOO-kee). Its exactly like a mandolin except one octave lower. THEY'RE BAD ASS

  • This song is so kick ass!

  • is it an octave mandolin or a mandola

  • When did the bassist of metallica have time to record with nickle creek and if he didnt why is he in this video

  • Thumbs up if you saw that the guy on the upright bass is Rob Trujilo, current bass player for METALLICA. Man I love Nickel Creek!

  • look at those tits

  • @toams7 ahahahAHAHAHA YOU'RE A FUNNY MOTHER FUCKER!

  • where is this music store

  • fuck vevo and their commercials and their non working video's

  • Does anyone know why Jim Courier is in this video?

Great song, Robert crossing musical genres proving you can be metal and still appreciate talent from other musical styles.

  • Comment removed

  • Most epic jam session ever.

  • wow i did not expect to like this, itunes had it listed as country and only other country i've ever liked is cash

  • What is this Vevo crap? I can't stand them

  • wow, they've all changed so much since this video

  • Sadly, Vevo seems to have ruined the listening experience with this song, as they've done with others (try listening to their version of Andy Mckee's cover of Africa, then listen to the original Candyrat version....'nuff said). Prior to Vevo, you could have listened to this great song without the advertising. At least they bought the good version of the video.

  • okay....is that the bassist from the now metalica? robert t somethenoranother

  • @pancakeandbutter

Yes, that is the bassist from Metallica.

  • This video seriously needs more than my 124,000 views and the 976 other people who watched it

  • I love it when they sing, but they sound so amazing when they just play together :) love nickel creek

  • Man i hate they split up!!

  • @MiaBellaGSD me, too!

  • this is so beast!!!

  • The current bassist for Metallica, my other favorite band, is in this video. Nickel Creek, WHEN DO YOU STOP BECOMING MORE AWESOME???

  • Trujillo layin it down!

  • @wagnum357 Robert didn't actually play bass in the song. He was just in the video.

  • @somedoing why would he be in the video if not for him playing at least in that "version" of the song

  • @wagnum357 too bad he was used only in the video not in the recording of the song.

  • @heatharoni Yeah I know. Its so sad. The first time I saw this vid I almost died. Trujillo is the man

  • @wagnum357 Hell yeah, the man's got talent!

  • @wagnum357 fag

  • @bukk3t rofl

  • OMG... so good

  • love it!

  • bassist from metallica FTW

  • I could never picture a guerrilla with an upright bass.

  • @GuitarGOR lol......... that guerilla of urs is a great bass player... from metallica, ozzy osbourne etc.

  • This is a great video and song, but the song is really from the Nickle Creek album called This Side.

  • best bass player ever. robert trujillo is the man. this song is really good. too bad they broke up.

  • that is THE dude from Metallica. but Sara Is Smokin HOT!

  • alrite this is pretty awsome. Robert from METALLICA and a smokin HOT fidel player!

  • 1:18

  • Best Song Ever

  • what is the thing that looks like a mandolin?

  • @167dwpoole that would be a mandolin

  • @deutschbag1000

    @167dwpoole

Actually, it's a bazooki. In essence, the same as a mandolin, just larger scale and each string pair is an octave lower than the mandolins.

  • It is more likely an octave mandolin, the bouzouki usually has the lower strings tuned in octave pairs, the higher strings doubled.

  • @deutschbag1000 actually it's a mandola. lower/bigger version of a mandolin.

  • @uwyolauren actualllyyyy..... hahha... its technically a 'bouzouki'....

  • @kanix999 I was going to correct him myself until i saw your comment. Nicely done, sir.

  • that would be a Bouzouki

  • @deutschbag1000 actually it's a bouzouki.

  • @deutschbag1000 no that would be a bouzouki

  • @rossbj138 nooooo that would be a mandolin

  • @deutschbag1000 e usually plays mandolin but in tis video its a bouzouki man... if you disagree you dont knowq wat a mandolin looks or sounds like

  • @its not a mandolin

  • @mickoooo123 OK OK I GET IT PEOPLE IT'S A BOZOUKI, STOP GIVING ME COMMENTS ABOUT HOW IT'S NOT A MANDOLIN. i swear you're the 10th person to tell me that. I freaking get it, leave me alone

  • its not a mandolin pal

  • @deutschbag1000 Hey man, you know thats not a mandolin, right?

  • @deutschbag1000 If it makes you feel better I don't know what either of those are.

  • @mickoooo123 Hey man, thats not a mandolin. Just so you know.

  • @deutschbag1000

    He's actually playing a mandola.

Similar to a mandolin, but it has a lower tuning and larger scale.

  • GO ROBERT!!!!

  • Rob Truujillo is the man. everything he has done is awesome. Metallica, Infectious Grooves...etc AWESOME

  • @Selfinduceddeath yea but he only played for this band in this video, he didnt record it, im only watching this vid because wikipedia told me rob was in it

  • Wait... ROBERT TRUJILLO!? Ok, how awesome can this band get? Seriously?

  • Rob isn't playing bass in this song, he's just pretending to in the video.

The bassist is actually Edgar Meyer.

  • Shut UP - this is sick! LOVE IT

  • acoustic bluegrass makin my mind dance

  • I never get tired of this song

  • what kind of music would you consider this, celtic bluegrass

  • fuck youtube commercials

  • I bet that half the people who watched this video were metallica fans who heard rob trujillo was in it

  • @customgauge99 lol, hate to admit it.. but aye. :)

but its good publicity for its side.

  • Oh my god....chris thiles hair......makes him look totally different. Love these guys!!!!

  • its not a bouzki or a manocello cause they have very large scale lengths im 75% sure its an army/navy style octave mandolin

  • Rob did not play during the recording, he was just here for the music video... But good song anyway and it's good to see Rob here^^

  • nah i got mad respect for rob to play bass in metallica and nickel creek although he isnt permanent in nickel creek

  • ROB!!!!!!!!! METALLICA!!!!! haha im probly the only one here who loves nickel creek and metallica :P haha

  • @biff2851 nah man me too

  • @biff2851

Nah, I love old Metallica (Kill 'Em All to ...And Justice For All), and Nickel Creek. You can find just about any style of music in my stereo. Everything from Cannibal Corpse to Kreator to The Misfits to The Duhks to Tchaikovsky. LOL! If it has talent, I'll listen to it...and Nickel Creek were a very talented band. I'd love it if they got back together sometime soon. Only time will tell, I know. Cheers!

    - Wulf

  • Man, I wish they were still together!

  • its so weird seeing robert trujillo playing a stand up bass

  • Rob finally found a decent band!

  • @pharesc8019 HAHA no you didnt.lol

  • Love this video!! These guys know how to jazz up bluegrass!

  • @MikefromTrenton

Rob Sucks compared to most metal and slap bassist you obviosly havnt heard of his predescor cliff burton,or the one who tried to take cliffs place but was labled ''too good'' for metallica and im talking about les claypool.

  • @Beast6Of6Bass6 obviously you haven't heard the song "possessed to skate" when he was bassist for suicidal tendencies. like cliff burton R.I.P., he is an amazing bass player

  • @fredsavagegarden p.s. possessed to skate '97

  • nickel plus metallica......nuthin better

  • I like the kid playing the Dime guitar..... Kick ass a little Dime and Robert in the vid
