Sunday, on 60 Minutes, McCain said that the deregulations he worked for were helpful for the growth of the economy.

Also, Obama didnt come into office wanting to have bailouts and money flow into the economy. His goals were to fix heath insurance and end a war that has taken the lives of so many brave soldiers (like my friend). It was the necessity of the situation that created the massive deficit that we currently have for this year and lets not forget that W. had the FIRST bailout in Oct. 2008 (which counts for Obama's first budget year).

The NYTimes just revealed that McCain's campaign manger, Rick Davis, received $30,000 every month for 5 years to defend Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac from having to deal with stricter regulations. Sunday, on 60 Minutes, McCain said that the deregulations he worked for were helpful for the growth of the economy.
It's truly astonishing how dirty McCain and his campaign is.

I know that liberals can't accept facts but this is FACT: Obama, in his 3 years in the senate, was the 2nd largest recipient of contributions from Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. He recieved $126,349 second only to Cris Dodd (Democrat and senate chair for the banking committee) who recv'd $165,400. In contrast McCain warned of the coming mortgage crisis in 2005 as he pressed for regulatory reform on Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. Dems are liars and hypocrites, dumb liberals will vote Obama anyway.

Uhhhh, deregulation started under Clinton. But deregulation has nothing to do with real estate folks who have NO oversight, and never have. NEVER. Nobody prosecuted wholesale for participating in, or creating a bubble from no doc ninja loans, they appeared in a feeding frenzy driving the price of America's homes upward.
New regs coming October will dry up bad loans but also dry up buyers. Housing prices continue to plummet as inventory increases.
Things just got worse, not better.

Money is created through the issuence of loans without the capital to back it,soley based on the amount of loans given with the promise of a pay back with interest,the banks base thier capital on these promisary notes saying every $100 loaned equates to $700 of potential capital and makes additional loans with this fictional captial.Its crazy but it our banking system.

The problem is not Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, they became insolvent because they backed bad loans, that Wall Street investors bundled.
To answer your question, No. Obama was not invoved in a law suit of any kind on Mortgage bias. Biden is not even on the Senate banking commitee.

Wow a 1995 Civil Rights case had nothing to do with the crisis now. It was a redlining case in which minorites were denied mortgages simply because they lived in the neighborhood that banks would not invest in. They won because they proved thst they denied loan to credit worthy black and approved for lessor qualified whites in other neighborhoods. Hillary ran a bad campaign, just admit it. She relied on her husbands political machine to get out the vote, while Obama used a grass roots effort to defeat her. He went to red states that Hillary ignored, like my state Virginia. Even after the Super Tuesday tie, Yards were littered with Obama signs and no Hillary Why? Because she thought that she had the super delagates in her pocket.

Cenk think about what you're saying: if Obama's first reaction to the financial crisis is 'Ooh, now's my big chance to angrily attack the GOP!' even people in the base would get turned off. Plus, Obama doesn't need to attack b/c McCain is gaffing left and right. I believe at this time that Obama is not in this to win,I think he's happy to have made history with be nominated but he either has no interest in taking the reins from Bush and McCain or he has been co-opted to play the sidelines as opposition to but not as a true canidiate against them. Either way he is acting way too weak and everyone can see it.
I wonder if he knows something we all don't.

i see cenk's point, but don't agree totally. partisanship in times of crisis betrays weakness, a need to be surrounded by like-minded thinkers. obama did pretty well to showcase his ability to look for cross-party solutions, while extending an agenda to the working class (his proposal for a stimulus package). i don't think we should confuse obama's composure with weakness. he's still going for the swing voter, who's watching how both candidates react to this crisis.

To not go after McCain and Bush as the cause of this crisis, is not playing to the crowds of Rome.This will be decided by who presents himself as the solution,not just with plans but with rightous indignation against the policies of his opponent.Obama needs to first get into the white house and then impliment his bi-partisan policies,but show teeth now.

The reason why Obama can't get more angry at McCain and the Republicans is the same reason why he is having trouble winning the the white working class vote. If Obama gets all riled up and aggressively attacks the McCain-Palin ticket, he 'll be perceived as an "Angry Black Man" by Middle (white) America. An angry black man is one of the most feared things in the American psyche. If a black male shows anger outside of a sport's arena then he is someone to be viewed warily in this country.

Conservatives, most of the time, will talk about traditional American values and usually they include the Bible in that. What I don't get is that Jesus' sermon on the mount talked allot about selfless giving and doing unto others. So how is having more money than you can possibly need or spend in a lifetime when others are in need remotely like that? I don't believe in Jesus or the bible, I don't need a book to see those morals but I would like to see some consistency from those who do.
