What were the most common mistakes when you first started doing them? I want to get braids but I can't afford to go to a braider so I was hoping to do them myself, probably gonna end up in disaster lol. What tips can you give me?
@ImPrettyTho I hope this does not sound rude; however this is the reason I have the amount of clients I have. A lot of people do not know the difference between individuals and micro's not to mention micro mini's. These are small individual braids.
I'm going to braid my hair tomorrow, It's my first time doing a whole head ...how long do you think it would take?should make sure I have 1 or 2 days free?
I Have Kinda long hair well its like 6 inches long and i want those kind of braids but i want to have hair left out but not mine like will that look right?
Hey this is awesome! I just posted a video response showing how I do my braids too. A little bit bigger, im tender headed and already take too long doing my hair! lol Loving the vid!
thank you for the last answer! I have one more question! I dont know if you do kinky twist but when I do my kink twist they always unravel and never stay tight what could I be doing wrong! I am a left handed person. Thank you!
Thx! I have a Question! I do my braids my self and I have natural hair no perm! My real hair always stick out the braid and looks fuzzy what can I do?
I put lets jam or something like that on the hair before braiding it and that keeps stray hair out of the way and it blends the natural hair and the extension hair. I hope this helps.
You can lightly blow dry your hair before braiding. That way the ends will be a little straight. I have natural hair and before I started blow drying my hair it use to look fuzzy too! That jam would help as well. hope that help
Very good info; I have natural clients who do not want any heat on their hair but I also have clients who don't mind the heat. If the client does not mind the heat I do exactly what johnitab said,
i love your braids.. they look really full!.... i have a quick question.. can you use perm rod rollers on human hair braids [straight] to get that curly look?
I am not sure. I've never done it that way, I have either curled the ends with curlers or used curly hair. But you can use rods or magnetic rollers on synthetic hair.
I will try it on human hair and do a video on how it turned out.
You can use them. I don't over load the roller or it will not work. Roll the hair dip it in very hot water while rolled. be gentle and squeeze the water out with a towel. air dry or use a dryer. Make sure it is dry before you unroll. You can use setting lotion and let it dry but the build up of product is bother some.
I have a couple of other videos that might help you out better. But I suggest you take your time; also it night be best for you to try the cross method or wrap extension around your natural hair method. (That is shown in one of my other videos). Also for me it was easier to learn when my hair was shorter, so your length might actually help you out. And for part placement try pulled parts; its the way I sectioned my hair in the how to braid the back of your head video.
No this type of braid does not pull your hair out. What causes breakage is the braids being to tight, the braids being pulled tightly (up in a ponytail for example), having too much extension hair on the braid or leaving the braids in too long. If done correctly the braids does not cause any breakage you will only have natural shedding.
Girl, braiding that fast is what us braiders are able to do. Braiding hair for so many years you tend to braid faster with the years of experience. Keep up the good work!!
I dont like slip knots because it tangles and becomes loose I like when the person braids the fake hair all the way pass my own hair and they super glue the braid, but most braiders dont get what iam saying and they glue my hair whith the fake hair. the clear glue is not visible and it last longer whith holding the loose hair in place and you can dip the hair without it unraveling just my opinion.
I appreciate your opinion, I do have clients that request glue I do not suggest it; because as you stated a lot of braiders place the glue on the clients hair which is not good for your hair. I do suggest the slip knot technique because when it is done correctly you do not have any breakage and the slip knot is easily removed. But again thank you for your opinion.
I recently uploaded a video showing how to do micro's using synthetic hair. I have not finished them yet but when I do I will post a complete style video. check out the videos I have on my page.
no i was talking about braiding the tree braids down to your nape! so do you stop at the nape and do a slip knot or do you keep braiding it down like regular cornrows and then do a slip knot!
I do either it depends on what the client wants. With most of my clients I stop braiding after i have braided past the clients hair and only have extension hair let then I do the slip knot.
so when you lift the hair up in the back does the braid show or is it just the hair? and what type of human or syn. hair should i get thats at a really affordable price cuz im running extremly low on money.
The braids will show; however with my clients I do a couple of rows of micros so when the hair is pulled up you will see micro's instead of cornrows. I hope this helps.
o yea one more question when you are doing tree braids when you are braiding the hair all the way down do you tie a knot at the ends or do you put a rubber band at the end please help me!
When doing tree braids I do slip knots at the end I do anywhere from 4 to 8 because I want to ensure the braid does not come a loose unless the braids are being taken down.
I'm sorry I meant 4 to 8 times. I do the slip knot 4 to 8 times to ensure the tree braid stays put. You do not have to do it that many times that is just what I do personally.
I braid past the clients hair and then do the slip knot so if you put your fingers on the slip knot and cut the braid right above it then you will not cut your hair or have to worry about removing the slip knot manually.
hey everytime i do my micro braids it always start slipping what do i have to do to keep it from slipping out cuz i dont want to keep braiding my hair to tight to cause any damage or brake my hair off!please help me and what is the best brand hair to use to help me braid better!
If you are new to braiding I suggest using synthetic hair because it does not cost too much money. But as far it slipping you can try using bees wax or I know we dont like to hear this but you get better with practice. Try holding the extension hair as close to your scalp as possible and then begin braiding; keep your hands close to your head until you are at least 1/4 of the way down. let me know how it turns out.
I am going to post more how to videos with better sound. I know the sound was really bad in this video (as well as the other two). I will post more video's soon.
Hi, quick question! have u heard of braiding the crown in individuals and then french braiding the middle, so that it saves time? this person is trying to do that to my hair and i'm not really positive about it! thanx
Yes I have heard of that. I suggest making sure the braider knows what she is doing.
~TIP FOR EVERYONE~ if it is your first time braiding someones hair in the above style try this instead of cornrowing the hair and sewing in a weave just French braid (small cornrows) the middle in 2 or 3 small layers it still saves time and it helps you the braider learn how to hide the middle so that when you do sew in a weave in the middle you will hide the tracks without them showing too bad.
Thank You! The volume was really bad but I am going to do another video soon of how I do individuals. If I have a whole day I can do my hair in 1 day, and no i am a mobile braider in Los Angeles.

do these type of braids pull your natural hair out? it looks like your natural hair gets pulled tightly or in the styling process gets pulled out.
rohampto 3 years ago
No this type of braid does not pull your hair out. What causes breakage is the braids being to tight, the braids being pulled tightly (up in a ponytail for example), having too much extension hair on the braid or leaving the braids in too long. If done correctly the braids does not cause any breakage you will only have natural shedding.
liea1982 3 years ago

o yea one more question when you are doing tree braids when you are braiding the hair all the way down do you tie a knot at the ends or do you put a rubber band at the end please help me!
GRANDBERRY1988 3 years ago
When doing tree braids I do slip knots at the end I do anywhere from 4 to 8 because I want to ensure the braid does not come a loose unless the braids are being taken down.
liea1982 3 years ago
im sorry what does the 4 to 8 means??
GRANDBERRY1988 3 years ago
I'm sorry I meant 4 to 8 times. I do the slip knot 4 to 8 times to ensure the tree braid stays put. You do not have to do it that many times that is just what I do personally.
liea1982 3 years ago
so wouldnt it be hard to take out!
GRANDBERRY1988 3 years ago
I mostly do slip knots after the clients hair so the braid can be cut after the slip knot.
liea1982 3 years ago
hold im sorry what you mean cut the braid after the slip knot?
GRANDBERRY1988 3 years ago
I braid past the clients hair and then do the slip knot so if you put your fingers on the slip knot and cut the braid right above it then you will not cut your hair or have to worry about removing the slip knot manually.
liea1982 3 years ago
hey everytime i do my micro braids it always start slipping what do i have to do to keep it from slipping out cuz i dont want to keep braiding my hair to tight to cause any damage or brake my hair off!please help me and what is the best brand hair to use to help me braid better!
