  • if you ever go to sell one let me know

  • Sounds amazing.

  • Hi, do u have any copies of this song still? I remember watching this video wen I was about 12. I didn't have a YouTube account and wanted the song real bad. Well, now I do and still wanted to know. Lemme know. Thanks, RecordKing44.

  • how long does the cutter head gem last on the Presto units?

tryin' to sound like Velvet underground demo tapes eh? haha

  • So cool!

  • I really dig this track man, anyway I could get the EP?

  • @CheckOutMyToys Sorry, Midlife Crisis is all sold out but I'm cutting a new flexi for Charlie McAlister next week. It will be available through Tick Tock Records soon.

  • @RahRahRecords Hello. Would you like

i design the label for your records?

  • Hello!

Please can I ask you how is the quality of this record machine presto k-10 or k-8 both are stereo?

both of this model can cutting transco lacquer disc?

can you suggest to me from your experience please..

    thanks you!

  • @gioeolo the k10 and k8 are mono cutters. they can cut lacquer discs with good results but will not be as loud as a commercally pressed record.

  • This is cool!! am i right in saying that ic you let pva glue set in a disk you could use that????

  • i does want one yes

  • friggin nice and i love the track you recorded on it

  • You're a genius.

  • I've got a model k10 presto.

    (introduced in 1951) @10 watts.

I tried to fire it up but it does not advance past the first groove.

I have a bunch of unused blank records too...

any advice you could give me ie :

    1. where to get new cutting stylus

    2. how to make the cutter advance

    please help

  • @bugsycline

if you watch what my hand is doing at the 1 minute mark, that will show you how to engage the drive gear. If it still won't advance, pull the platter off ( it lifts straight up) and check that you have a worm gear on the shaft. whileyou've got the platter off it'sa good time to lubricate the mechanism.

  • @RahRahRecords sorry... a few seconds before the one minute mark.

  • @bugsycline DO A SEARCH IN YOUR WEB BROWSER FOR WEST-TECH SERVICES...THIS GUY DOES AN EXCELLENT JOB AT REBUILDING CUTTER HEADS, SELLS CUTTING NEEDLES, BLANKS, RESTORES THE ENTIRE UNIT, ETC. OWNERS NAME IS GIBB.

  • Is the audio track in this video how the audio sounds after using it?

  • @Kapr1Sun yes the audio is recorded straight off the record

  • Frikin'. Sweet.

I never thought of disposable plates. I'll have to try that now.

  • Are you able to record on the other side of the plate as well or would that ruin it?

  • @Pacolikespie1967 I usually only cut on one side (the dull side) because it cuts better than the other (shiny side) which tends to be noisier.

  • I haven't seen anyone mention it...but this ep is fucking rad! where can i get it?

  • Nice one. I have a Presto 1C head with a "Hill and Dale attachment on it. A friend has used very small fishing hooks as needles in the past and I hear they work well.

I had a Presto 14B lathe that I believe was stolen along with a bunch of drag car parts I had. I imagine it's either collecting dust now or been dumped. Bartsards. It was almost complete and in perfect working order.

The plastic plate is a great Idea.

  • thats wicked cool.

  • oh, and how many plays can you get out of it?

  • I haven't worn any out yet

  • why did you use the green plastic plate? Did you find other colors to be too hard? i'm considering this, but would like to buy a classic black plate

  • I used green because i used blue on the previous record and red on the next one. most of the colors work about the same except the translucent ones. black ones are ok.

  • Well, that, and it looks awesome. XD

  • there's that too.

  • Looking For Presto cutting needles ??? Please respond, Jon Martin

  • you and me both...wish I could help you but I'm in the same boat at the moment

  • I went to your myspace but didn't come up with info on how to buy some. Could you send me an email or direct me to a website with some info?

  • that's great fun!

  • wonder where cutting needles can be gotten?

  • Awesome! Brilliant sound! Out of curioisity, at what speed did you cut the records? Can that 1949 lathe cut at 45rpm?

  • I usually cut at 33 rpm. Stock, the k-10 will only do 33 or 78, but it could be adapted to do 45.

  • When I heard the lo-fi (that's a compliment, by the way) sound of the record in your video, it immediately reminded me of the sound of Joe Hill Louis' "Gotta let you go", which was one of Sam Phillips' first commercial recordings at the Memphis Recording Service (later to become Sun studio), cut on a Presto 6N, I believe. There's something unique about that sound. Keep up the good work.

  • Thanks for the kind words. I use a 1-c cutting head which was often used on the 6-n lathe, probably has something to do with it.

  • Incredible!

    Good work!

  • Rock On Dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!
