George Lowell was not only an accomplished musician, but I guess he was a KICK-ASS astronomer, too! Or somethin'. But I do appreciate the song, because it reminds me of the way I was raised!
R.I.P. to lowell george. little feat has always been one of the bands that music listners MUST listen to. no one compares. i was lucky to see them in columbia, missouri when i did. i wish we could have music that was even close to the calibur that this was today. but it will never happen. my generation hates this kind of music. being 24 i will pass this on to my children....you can believe that. music today is crap.
My favorate of all time !!!! (listen to Tower Of Power backing up) Richie Hayward's workin' and having fun at the same time ! what a groove drummer ...
not 1969, i believe it was 1978 or 1979. i saw the next to the last concert lowell george did. i have seen little feat 6-7 times since and although they still rocked it just isn't the same. lost a great one when we lost lowell.
I'm going to 'upgrade' this video with a slideshow of my own. I like what you did, but I'm gonna do one too. Chekitout (in about 2 months, LOL) Good Job! Great soundtrack too.
Don't know if Waiting for Columbus is their best live album. There are a number of bootlegs with a more cut down, funky and direct approach. One of which is Electrif Lycanthrope and any number of others available free for download on the internet. These are all FLAC files and have Hi Fi quality sound and they are the shit. Better IMHO to WFC.
Well then it is their best legitimate and legal live album. Never really contemplated bootlegs as potentially better than sanctioned recordings. Interesting.
As a lover of Little Feat since early 70's I want to possess everything Lowell played on, legitimate, legal or not. Have Electrif on Mint Vinyl as well as an excellent FLAC download which sounds amazing. As long as it is Lowell and I can hear that voice and that slide guitar.
These guys were(are)great. Lowell died while I was attending the University of Maryland in 1979 and the school paper the Diamondback had his story on the front page and I grabbed 5 copies for friends and to keep for histories sake. It was a huge loss. I have seen them many times but without Lowell. He was so gifted it was a true tragedy. I live in Northern VA and they still come to the State theatre in Falls Church a couple times a year!!
That rythym section is the best there has ever been, they could make ANYONE sound great, but George and Payne and Barrere could too, any one of them, on their own. Great band.
thats right...i do like this version rather than on feats don't fail me now..lowell's voice isn't drowned out buy the horns..coool soul tightass funk tune...beats anything out there...
love it, love the organ. This song somehow screams midnight spanish funk blues rock purple rain crack bass deep smoke mist night moonshine. What do you all think?
I saw Feat at the Warner Theatre in DC on their first tour with Craig Fuller. When he sang Spanish Moon, I swear it was as if Lowell was singing it himself from the grave. A chill went down my back and everyone else's who heard it.
This song rocks. Heard the bass line sampled by method man and Redman and thought holy hell, that is full on funky and low and behold, this song funks with the best of em.

In my opinion, the only rendition of Spainish
Moon that compares to this one is Robert Palmers' cover. Check it ot its on the Sneakin Sally through the Alley album.
