Big john had class and his cars had style. I grew up at the drag strips of southern california irwindale, lions and o.c.i.r. I was 11 yrs old when I met big john. he would always take time to teach me about funny cars and drag racing. I even painted my schwnn bike candy apple red. he was a huge part of drag racing history.

I remember when we had the top Gassers race at Green Valley Raceway in the sixties---Big John was there!
