Black Jack was the last quartermaster issued horse in the army. He was the last to have the US army brand and tattoo. He served proudly as a capison horse for the Cassion Platoon on Fort Myer Virginia for the last years of his life, he did recieve full honors funeral and is buried on Summeral Field Parade Ground on Fort Myer Va. Good story about Comanche though, I will have to look into this one myself.
Y'all who sided with the indians during this war, and not realizing that this was the final part. To make America wonderful. Of course just like always, you half ass liberals are destroying your nation. Go and live somewhere else, you tree-huggin, socialist, anti-war, anti-corporate, anti-capitalist motherfuckers.
And as far as 'liking the French'- yes, I admire some aspects of French culture , and I have liked the majority of French people I have met in my life. So what? If France attacked my country, I'd fight the French forces. Of course, we are not at war with France. You still haven't explained your hatred for France. Does yoru hatred stem from some policy of the French Republic, or do you actually hate French people and their culture? Why?
@CaptKennedyUSMC- I'm not a conservative? LOL! Did your magic 8-ball tell you that? :) If I were any more conservative, I'd be calling for a return to monarchy- but under the Stuarts! I'm pro-life, I read Russel Kirk. I was once invited to join the JBS. I voted for Bush 2 twice- but with grave reservations because he was too progressive!
@Leroyfis Fuck, one loss you liberal son of a bitch. He had major victories. I love how you have such this boiled hate towards us servicemen. Wishing that the U.S. Calvary never pushed out the natives. Hell, go live with your motherfucking leftist hollywood friends.
@nativewariorr To be fair, epidemics killed far more indigenous people than any deliberate acts of war or conquest by Europeans or white Americans. You can hardly blame the Europeans for accidentally introducing diseases like smallpox to the Americas, not when no one in Europe understood the etiology of those diseases or had effective treatments for them. That in no way erases the facts of ethnic cleansing, conquest, and forced assimilation, of course

Its hard to explain how i feel about the white men after doing some research about them coming to the Americas slaughtering the indians like they were animals, and we called Hitler a brute for killing the millions of jews.how are we any different we killed basically an entire nation of indians over land.
@XxValleyIndianXx It was a completely different time I am not excusing it by any means but the mindset was different back then we barely even recognized anything that wasnt white and protestent as human even catholics were considered degenerate savages. Again not justifiying what happened there is no way to do that.
@XxValleyIndianXx well for starters a war of conquest like in north america is slightly different from ethnic cleansing. While there were some sentiments towards cleansing with the aboriginals in NA it was more the traditional war like around the world...expansion for population and exploiting natural resources...that has been going around for centuries. The nazis were trying to purify the human race with a structured type of genocide..no quarter everyone else is desrtoyed but them.
@XxValleyIndianXx More than a nation. And more than just the American's. We all killed them. Spanish, British, Dutch, French. No matter alliances. We slaughtered them, the excuse being 'they were savages'.
We're responsible for killing a sensible group, millions strong. Some unintentional, some intentional. I have to say, if you watch the movie 'Little Big Horn', you certainly don't feel bad for Custer and his men at the end.
@lckmyhole practicltyall. MOUNT Rushmore was built on SACRED GROUNDs. @WildGaston he was a respected figure amoungst a few tribes who were already allies of his. i think 3 tribes fought agianst the 7th that battle. the indian scouts who served custer of course were not united witrh stting bull. i was saying also that the propaganda war currently favors the American Indian side these days, which is no better than the decades when it was pro custer. america is sucha dishonest country these days when it comes to anything related to race/ethnicity
@dbpgh 3 tribes???? Lakota, Oglala, Hunkpapa, Dakota, and Yankton, that sounds like more than 3 tribes. And Custer was an idiot, he didn't care about his troops, all he wanted was glory. The reason he was shipped out west is because he screwed up at every turn in the civil war. No one back east wanted him in they're command, so they got rid of him.
@TheBardic really nitpicking, those were subsets of the sioux.i dont particularly care for him but he was a great calvarly leader in the civil war.he was selected for this command because he was aggressive and had experience fighting indians.custer and other ambitius persons wanted action and there was nothing ¨back east¨for him.his attack plan probably would have succeded that day but for the actions of reno.not that attacking a village of women and children is anything to write home about.
@dbpgh Yeah right, those are the 5 tribes of the Sioux Nation. And if Custer is such a great commander then why did he leave 2 Gatling guns behind. And lets not forget the lever action Henry rifles he refused to let his troops use instead of the single shot they had. He was a major fuck up from the kit go, so keep reading the hero books.
@TheBardicDruid A Terrible Glory and Last Stand are the most recent material i have read on this subject, about a year ago.i dont know why you are so emotional on the subject, and making assumptions.lakota, arapaho and north cheyyene are mentioned on wiki as the three involved..but if you want to dissect them further go ahead.theres no doubt that his troops were ill prepared to face superior indian warriors, but victory was still possible.you shouldnt be so emotioanl and nitpicky.its past history.
@dbpgh It's probably from suffering under a CO in the military that had "Custer syndrome" really bad, he finally screwed up bad enough the Army revoked his commission.
@TheBardicDruid I love how you completely ignore his other victories, when many of American leaders (mainly leftist fucks like you) are incompetent and lazy have more losses than victories.
@TheBardicDruid Why don't you come on over to South Carolina, and you need to learn to approach a Marine(make sure M is always capitalized buddy) and also a contractor for Academi(Blackwater) Oh lemme guess your just going to be like every anti-war lefty, you are going to bring up the "incident" the company I work for had in Iraq.
@CaptKennedyUSMC So they changed their name again, good company to work for marine. I turned them down and went to work for Fluer as an electronics engineer, you see we Army guys can do more than one thing.
@TheBardicDruid First Custer left those gatling guns behind because he didn't want to be slowed down by their weight, the lever actions Henry and Winchester rifles were at the Little Big Horn but in the hands of the Sioux and their allies because the US Army in their infinite wisdom didn't think our troops needed anymore then a single shot rifle. You know how the Army is about changes. I can attest to this because I was in the Army as well. 2BN 325 INF ABN 82 Airborne Division.
@MrJake985 Custer was just one of several CO's that left the Henry behind, after Little Big Horn the others started using them. I with several buddies dug the whole history of Custer, starting with Army records. We were at Ft. Hood and got tired of hearing 1st Cav worship him, so we found the facts. Shortly there after the Army found another post for us.
Custer may have been arrogant, but he wasn't stupid. The facts of his services to the USA have been intentionally buried by his superiors who needed a scapegoat. Hard to defend yourself when you're dead.
Every soul that lost their lives in that battle, on both sides, should be revered... Some were protecting their homes, some were protecting an idea, some were there for other reasons. They fought and they died... leave it at that
@Rockunstank It makes me laugh how villainized Custer has been. Uneducated people no nothing other than what the movies say. Shame on all the people who disgraced George A. Custer. A great American.
@Rockunstank ...Just by your comment I see you don't know history att all... You know nothing of Custer and if you ever studied history, instead of watching TV, you would know that Hitler wasn't German.
@astar334 true. people say he was an idiot for not knowing hwo many tribes there were goin to be. but i think that was more carelessness than anything. besides, a scout probably would hav been killed while scouting.
@Rockunstank Fuck off liberal, I mean let me guess you got your mind brainwashed the fuck out of your liberal hollywood shit to go all "indian". You know...Dances with Wolves, Last Samurai and the most recent one, Avatar.
@CaptKennedyUSMC Have you read any history books? It wasn't enough to take the land from the native americans, the government did everything in its' power to wipe out their culture, to the point of taking their children from their families and forcing them to learn the ways of the europeans who were sure they were superior. Sound familiar? We went to war in Libyia, Iraq and Afghanistan to promote our "democracy." I don't mean to trivialize the usmc God died & you're in charge?
@12susieq So I don't give a shit about what happen to the indians. I give my Semper Fi to those who became our scouts. But the Sioux...man I hate them as much I as I hate the french. And yes its our god given duty as americans, to westernize the world and to police it. It is our duty to protect Israel at all costs.
@CaptKennedyUSMC@CaptKennedyUSMC The Sioux are our fellow Americans. As for the French, why would you hate them? What did they ever do to you? Why is it our 'God given duty to protect Israel at all costs'? Israel is a foriegn power. You could make the case for our alliance based on convenience or national interest (although I think you'd be mistaken on both counts)-- but God? I don't know about you- but I took an oath to defend the US Constitution, not Zionism.
@ewancummins Yet you like the french, and would help the Sioux people kill U.S. Calvary troopers? That's not defending the constitution pal. If your not willing to side with America for every conservative action we do, your not defending the constitution.
@CaptKennedyUSMC The Sioux were at peace with the whites until Custer showed up and tried to move them. Then when he murdered a bunch of woman and children, the Sioux took action. So if you feel Custer is right then you see nothing wrong with the My Lai Massacre.
@CaptKennedyUSMC Hatred is the reason for the mess our planet is in at the present time. Anyone who thinks god gave them the right to kill anyone who disagrees with them is beyond arrogant. You were born in the wrong place and wrong time, Hitler was just about your speed.
I did a speech on comanche and he wasn't accualy Custers horse but a man by the name of Captain Miles Kehoe. He also wasn't the only survivor. A couple other horses were alive but were takin by the Sioux
@wilmaohman Commanche was a claybank bay in color, and a morgan in breed . He was a mount of Captain Miles Keogh, he was left to die of his wounds on the battlefield. Instead, he was nursed back to health, never to be ridden again, living out his days at Fort Riley, Kansas.
@marineman334455 did you know, according to Wikipedia, there was a bulldog that survived as well? though they don't know who owned it or where it came from... odd, eh?
@marineman334455 I understand that the reason Comanche wasn't taken or his rider scalped was that Kehoe fell but the reins were still in his hand. Superstition of the indians about the rider holding the reins was that they should be left alone
Even the Sioux said Custer was brave and he would have had to been as all the soldiers there had to be. Comanche was Miles Kehoe's horse and the Indians did not scalp Kehoe because they thought he was extremely brave as he rode back and forth on Comanche, his papel medel shone in the sun.
@squirell1952 dont use hitler to make your point. dont be so extreme.custer was many things, brave was obviously one of them.maybe youd be well off to investigate why the 7th had so many indian scouts.i am sure you have a romanticized perspective of amer indians. you and pochantas wuld have been a great couple.too bad u were born in the 1980s in a trailer park.
@squirell1952 First I wanna know, why are you dating your comments? lol, second, you say buy an atlas, i say buy a dictionary, not trying to be a grammar Nazi but if you want to rant about how people need to exercise there brain maybe one should learn to type properly? Also, Scots, at least, aren't British, there Scottish, just part of the UK/Great Britain. I'm confused who where the latter you mentioned, but if you meant England itself, actually that is a legitimate name for the people.
This was one of my grandfathers favorite songs, he played it often and i cried most every time growing up, unfortunately he passed last month due to complications with some shrapnel in his thigh from world war II. this song has new meaning to me, and i cry when i hear it again. Rest in Peace grandpa... you brave old horse...
@squirell1952 the song is about a horse. And for future reference Stalin killed 20million as compared to Hitler's 6.5. Johnny wouldnt sing about Custer's cowardly men.
Correction required: Comanche was not Custer's horse. He was the horse riden by Miles Keough, an Irishman who seved in the papal guard. Custer had Vic and Dandy, his favorite chargers, along with him at the Little Bighorn. Comanche is stuffed and stored at the Universiy ofr Kansas .
tres bel hommage rendu à la nation indienne venue combattre le tueur d'indien qu' etait custer, à little big horn ils ont fait leur job, ce jour la custer a mangé!!!!! johnny horton reste un grand.
@drunkflowers comanche was the only living creature to survive little big horn, he was wounded by seven bullets from the battle, he was 14 years old, they nursed the horse back to health and then retired the horse, he lived to be 29
ps: dedicated to the brave men who fought the demon Custer!>>>>>watch if youre not afraid of feathers and real courage!!>>>"Black Lodge Singers- Soldier Boy (Veteran Song) "
Custer was just a big talkin fancy boy! 11 charges means nothing if the commander is a prancing martinette! his own men on the plains hated his fascist bully boy guts! glad my feathered friends nailed him! yiiiiiii, yiiiiii!!! Hoka Hey!!
Nice song about a nice horse. But still, let's face it, Custer had it coming. This was one of those rare instances where the indigenous people of North America prevailed against the lying, bullying tactics of the dominant white settlers. Didn't help them much in the long run but at least now some of them own gambling casinos.
The army issued the soldiers single shot rifles because they did not want the soldiers to waste ammunition. The indians had a number of repeating rifles. The 7th calvary was surely dealt a death blow by the bean counters.
I love all the old time country. The REAL COUNTRY. What happened to the real country? The years just got away with me.Sometimes I just wish I could go back.
@zaaritha Comanche did not die at the Battle of the Little Bighorn, Montana, but of old age at Fort Riley, Kansas. Comanche's body is on display on the campus of the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas
You did a great job on this video - Only Johnny Horton would think of the horse - Those horses back then were brave to go through the fighting and guns and cannons shooting. Thank you for this exceptional video
Kuster was a glory hound. The cocksucker got his men killed so its only fitting that SOB should go down aswell. Just a little fyi comment lol. Great song!
Great singer and song, could you please me who did the art work, I know Harland Young did many paintings of the old west and thought possibly you may have some of his art work here...Thank you Annabelle
Warriors were not just human. And which would we say is braver? For my money, I would say the horse for overcoming all that nature had installed in its DNA & remaining steadfast with its human comrade. Comanche was buried with full military honors, one of only two horses in the US to receive this honor. The other never saw battle and was used only as the "riderless horse" at military funerals.
A lot of people don't know that Custer gave Comanche to Cpt. Keough (Keogh) as a gift. Cpt. Keogh was the commander of "I" Company and was well liked by his men so much so they set up a protective circle around him after he was wounded and it is assumed he was the last to die durring the battle.
Perhaps you should pay more attention in english class before you belittle others. You would then learn to not start your sentence with a conjunction. You would also know that 'know' is the proper spelling of the word you were looking for. Finally, you would also know that 'is' is the present tense and since there is no way that Comanche is still alive you should have used 'was.' Here ends the lesson.
Gath I wonder if you find it ironic that far from being the harbinger of irony you ironically dont know there were other horses that survived too. Poetic license was taken in this song. That said its a beautiful song full of irony that ironically enough seemed to escape you sense of irony. Custard pretty much hated Indians yet he named his

12susieq 1 week ago
@12susieq So I don't give a shit about what happen to the indians. I give my Semper Fi to those who became our scouts. But the Sioux...man I hate them as much I as I hate the french. And yes its our god given duty as americans, to westernize the world and to police it. It is our duty to protect Israel at all costs.
CaptKennedyUSMC 1 week ago
@CaptKennedyUSMC @CaptKennedyUSMC The Sioux are our fellow Americans. As for the French, why would you hate them? What did they ever do to you? Why is it our 'God given duty to protect Israel at all costs'? Israel is a foriegn power. You could make the case for our alliance based on convenience or national interest (although I think you'd be mistaken on both counts)-- but God? I don't know about you- but I took an oath to defend the US Constitution, not Zionism.
ewancummins 6 days ago
@ewancummins Yet you like the french, and would help the Sioux people kill U.S. Calvary troopers? That's not defending the constitution pal. If your not willing to side with America for every conservative action we do, your not defending the constitution.
You aint a conservative
CaptKennedyUSMC 5 days ago
@ewancummins And let me guess, you don't want to have the private sector have more power than the government. And your probably anti-war,
CaptKennedyUSMC 5 days ago
@CaptKennedyUSMC The Sioux were at peace with the whites until Custer showed up and tried to move them. Then when he murdered a bunch of woman and children, the Sioux took action. So if you feel Custer is right then you see nothing wrong with the My Lai Massacre.
TheBardicDruid 1 day ago
@CaptKennedyUSMC Hatred is the reason for the mess our planet is in at the present time. Anyone who thinks god gave them the right to kill anyone who disagrees with them is beyond arrogant. You were born in the wrong place and wrong time, Hitler was just about your speed.

I did a speech on comanche and he wasn't accualy Custers horse but a man by the name of Captain Miles Kehoe. He also wasn't the only survivor. A couple other horses were alive but were takin by the Sioux

@marineman334455,I heard Commanche was solid white or gray, the Indians was scared of him, they thought he was a ghost.
wilmaohman 3 months ago
@wilmaohman Commanche was a claybank bay in color, and a morgan in breed . He was a mount of Captain Miles Keogh, he was left to die of his wounds on the battlefield. Instead, he was nursed back to health, never to be ridden again, living out his days at Fort Riley, Kansas.
TheLloyd280 3 months ago 2
@marineman334455 did you know, according to Wikipedia, there was a bulldog that survived as well? though they don't know who owned it or where it came from... odd, eh?
nextlifearotti 1 month ago
@marineman334455 I understand that the reason Comanche wasn't taken or his rider scalped was that Kehoe fell but the reins were still in his hand. Superstition of the indians about the rider holding the reins was that they should be left alone

good f in thing your hoof wasnt shot or youd never have ended up in a museaum.
dbpgh 7 months ago
Even the Sioux said Custer was brave and he would have had to been as all the soldiers there had to be. Comanche was Miles Kehoe's horse and the Indians did not scalp Kehoe because they thought he was extremely brave as he rode back and forth on Comanche, his papel medel shone in the sun.
Rwatz62 7 months ago
@squirell1952 dont use hitler to make your point. dont be so extreme.custer was many things, brave was obviously one of them.maybe youd be well off to investigate why the 7th had so many indian scouts.i am sure you have a romanticized perspective of amer indians. you and pochantas wuld have been a great couple.too bad u were born in the 1980s in a trailer park.
dbpgh 8 months ago
@squirell1952 First I wanna know, why are you dating your comments? lol, second, you say buy an atlas, i say buy a dictionary, not trying to be a grammar Nazi but if you want to rant about how people need to exercise there brain maybe one should learn to type properly? Also, Scots, at least, aren't British, there Scottish, just part of the UK/Great Britain. I'm confused who where the latter you mentioned, but if you meant England itself, actually that is a legitimate name for the people.

I'm afraid you don't know your history very well!! The Comanche Indians were
one of the best horse soldiers of that time!!! They could ride at full speed
hanging on to the horses mane and fire an arrow or rifle with great results!!
Usually one dead person with one arrow or rifle shot!! These boys were not to be messed with!!!!

Warriors were not just human. And which would we say is braver? For my money, I would say the horse for overcoming all that nature had installed in its DNA & remaining steadfast with its human comrade. Comanche was buried with full military honors, one of only two horses in the US to receive this honor. The other never saw battle and was used only as the "riderless horse" at military funerals.
voodoobaby405 1 year ago
