  • Thanks so much for uploading this wonderful film. I think I only saw it one time; I was probably 13, but I have never forgotten it. What a delight to watch it again! I sure hope the video generates enough interest so that this treasure is put on DVD. It's as good as any Disney film of that era and a story that needs to be remembered.

  • Can't thankyou enough for uploading this gem of a film. Like everyone else I remember watching this film and it has never left my memory. Even now at over 50 I still cried at some of the scenes. A truly amazing film that deserves to be seen on DVD. Fantastic job WillThisLast and thanks for making my day.

  • thankyou for uploading huge Linda Manz fan

  • is there anyway of getting this on DVD because my mum use to love this and wanted to get her it as one of her Christmas presents please let me know

  • My dad had just bought our first VCR while we were vacationing in Ft. Lauderdale in 1979. That evening, the family decided to watch this movie in the hotel room and test out the recording feature. We had this for years and my sister and I watched it many, many times. Til I knew the script almost by heart. Event the Dutch kids lines lol. What a joy to find this tonight. I just decided to Google the movie out of curiosity after failing to find in on Netflix. The whole movie! Thank you.

  • I was 8 when i saw this in 1979. As a kid without a dad I felt a deep connection to it then (especially to the character of Ben), and the movie's crossed my mind many times over the years. I never thought I'd see it again. Thank you so much for uploading it so I could CRY LIKE A DOGGONE BABY like I did 32 years ago!! :)

  • Thank you for posting this movie! I am 23 and first rented and saw this movie a few years ago, and I've loved it ever since! It's a movie worth putting on DVD. It is definately a film that I would love to show my children should I ever have any. Thank you sooo much!

  • I read this book a million times when I was growing up. The back of the book said "Now a Major Motion Picture!" but I never had a chance to see it. I just happened to come across this by accident and I'm so very glad I had a chance to see it. Thanks for posting this!

  • Really Long time Non see this Movie, Im 21 Man This Movie was old i watched it when i was 11

  • I saw this on BBC1 years ago when i was a kid, for some reason I never forgot this movie, and now, in my 40s, this is the first time ive ever seen it since then. Ive got a lump in my throat. I wish I could have this movie in DVD format so that I may forever cherish it in my home. Thank you so very much for posting it here.

    Blessings, Love and Light,

  • Again I really have to thank you that was brilliant, bit emotional in parts (orphan now myself for a few years) but fell about laughing "What was it like coming over here from England by ship" "Oh fine and dandy my Daddy was the skipper and we used to have tea and crumpets everyday at noon" Was well worth the wait and shockingly enuff as it went on I remembered every single bit, you have made my year :)

  • Thank you very much, I loved this film as a kid and havnt seen it since I was 13 im now 37. I did buy it from a seller on amazon a few years back, but it was shipped from USA either because it was nts or it was just a blank vhs stopped me buyin again, once bitten and all that. • awesome!! thank you for posting. My sister and I have been looking for this video for years.

  • I was in love with JP (the girl) played by Melissa Michaelson. LOL I was 10 or 11 and I kept her picture in my drawer.

  • I love that Kevin Dobson is playing a character that kinda foreshadows his character on Knots Landing.

  • fantastic, thank you for uploading.

@crunched1000 - we must have seen it on the BBC at the same time as I'm 38 and I saw it when I was around 8 yrs old.

  • Oh my god, thank you, THANK YOU for uploading this movie. I watched this when I was very, very young, but the movie made enough of an impression upon me that I still vividly remember the hanging of the boy, and how he gave his friend his shoes. I spent my teen years just finding the title of the movie, and then actually locating a physical copy - an exercise in failure until I found your upload. It's like plugging a substantial hole in my childhood.

  • WOW what a great mothers day present! I have been looking for this film for years

I named my second daughter Josephine Priscilla after JP in this wonderful film

and she found it on You Tube today and now believes me that I didn't name her after a packet of JPS ciggarettes lol thankyou for the pleasure of enjoying this film again would love to be able to purchase this film if it was made available to buy it would be fantasic EXCELLENT FILM A MUST SEE FOR ALL

  • Thanks for adding! Haven't seen this since I was a kid! One of my favorite movies when I was growing up.

  • I cant thank you enough for taking the time to upload this excellent and rarely repeated movie. The last time I saw it was early 80s then I remember it being repeated like 3am one morning but my VHS failed to record it...this is the first time in over 20 years im getting to watch it. They say uploading to Youtube kills the dvd market but i disagree...watching it again on bluray or dvd would be brilliant along with any extras etc. Obviously they could interview the cast of this movie for extras.

  • @ace170874 - thanks for the kind words, that made my day. :) If you look in the video info under the video screen you'll see a link to the Facebook group I created for this movie. Plus, some of the actors from the movie are in the group as well and if you look in the comments for this video you'll see a comment from the actor who played Ben

  • I also absolutely loved this as a child and have often wondered why it has never been on tv since. Maybe the disturbing hanging scene which I always used to fast forward!

  • That Liverpool kid may have been rough-edged and hard to get along with, but his heart was in the right place! Real street-smart for sure.

  • I have so many wonderful memories of the 7 weeks it took to make this film. I was all of 7 years old and this cast and crew were my family away from home. 7 weeks when your 7 years old is a very, very long time and I will forever be grateful that I was a part of it. Thank you for posting this. -Peter (Ben)

  • I too was 8 years old and watched this movie a few days before Christmas 1979. I was also quite traumatized by the hanging scene early on, but as my parents explained, life was pretty rough for many in those days. Still, those images were mostly what I've remembered about the film in the 31 years that has since passed. Despite the disturbing execution of the 15 year old boy, it was quite a good movie, and I'm glad it's been uploaded.

  • @WhooppeeKat I think you and I are in complete agreement about this movie. My parents helped me to understand how things were back then, too. Although I did have nightmares for a long time about the hanging scene, this film is a great reminder to all of us how much orphaned children suffered in America's early days before federal programs were put in place to help them. When people talk about making our country great again, I shudder to think that THIS is the America they want to go back to.

  • @GeorgiaKev

Definitely -- looking at the story, it was a powerful statement. The law is the law, of course, and to hang an adult for burglary and assaulting an officer back then may have been the law. But to hang a 15 year old boy for it still seems a bit too extreme. Granted, in those days, age 15 might have been considered an "adult" by relative standards. Still, it was shocking, especially for an 8 year old kid to witness, even on television.

  • I remember seeing this movie on New Year's Eve, 1980. I was only 8 years old but have never forgotten it. The hanging scene of the 15-year-old boy was really traumatic for me. While I do highly recommend this movie, I would skip the hanging scene if you plan to show it to an elementary-school aged child.

  • OMG I was 13yrs old when i saw this movie on BBC1..........Im now 44yrs old and this is the FIRST time ive seen it since then. Thanks for uploading.....
