  • You're guitar playing is astounding, this looks to me like a very complicated song to play (although I don't know much).

Really great rendition, and your vocals ain't bad either!

  • I really liked this. You're a talented man. Thanks so much.

  • Dominic, your playing and vocal sound soulful & sweet - way to go!

  • Very nice!!!

  • That was some really impressive playing there bro! Good one!

  • Excellent performance Dominic of such a difficult song! Four thumbs up!

  • Very nice but you dropped the ball around 2:10

  • Great Cover, DOM

  • tits man

  • long lost song.... now found....very nice....

  • great job

  • Paul Simon was an excellent folk writer. I wish he wrote more real folk stuff instead of pop/disco/folk rock stuff played with a band.

  • Absolutely brilliant. Well done

  • Very good! Congratulation ;-) 5*

  • from one musician to another - good job man.

  • as a guitar player to another - that is a great effort and I know how hard and complex it is to sing and play it at the same time . very good 5 stars on pro scale

  • Guitar playing is almost the same as Simon's, but the voice ruins it a little bit...

    Outstanding job anyway!

  • love this song! great cover man

  • So that's why I never got that one right. I had always thought it was a straight dropped D.

What you have there is the same tuning used on Black Mountain Side and a few others. Very simple, very good. Simon plays this song in the typical way people use dropped D, must be why I thunk that.

Once again a player with a better ear and an internet cam straightens out my old mistakes. thanks

  • Very nicely done!

I remember beating my brains out as a kid trying to figure this one out on guitar -- not knowing anything about DADGAD at the time. This song is pretty much impossible to play in standard tuning, but I tried like heck to make it work before finally giving up! :-D

  • the guitar work sounds just like the original. very obscure song. but i remember it

  • Awesom Dom!....Bravo Paul was my first ever Concert MSG with Urubamba and JSD Singers....You have got it my man.

  • Well done! I'm not often drawn to covers since even given a decent voice and exuberant playing so often timing can destroy the continuity of the song. You've got it all down here to where the whole achieves that magic state of being greater than the sum of it's parts. Impeccable and moving. Bravo

  • Cheers!

  • amazing... this is the very song i was shocked by paul's playing in his first solo album, and i can play never like you after all 10 years

No published tab scores available here in japan as far as i know (in fact paul solo is not so famous as S&G)

Thx and i will try it again, seeing this video to see how to finger

  • It's in DADGAD, as I say in the info bit....check the video response for a good version of Peace like a river, which is in DADDAD

  • TOTALLY do it justice...could you find a gig where I live?

  • VERY good job. Wish I could play this.

  • Excellent job! This has always been one of my favorite ever Simon tunes, because of the guitar work. I think you really capture the song very accurately. I'm gonna try and learn it...may take years... but thanks for the inspiration.

  • YOU GOT IT!

  • so great! your sound is very colorful.

  • nice!

  • Please could you post the tabs up. I know you said no but still I just think it's abit harsh that your not sharing this song with anybody else who would like to play it? If anybody has the tab i'd be very grateful. Awesome performance aswell. Cheers

  • I don't have a tab. I rarely use tabs. I don't know how to write tabs. I learnt this by listening to it over and over and over again, and then playing it 100 times until I got it right. this sort of thing drives my wife mad, but it's the only way I can learn. Use the right tuning and watch my hands. I am sharing it by posting it! There is no pleasing some people!

  • Haha I am grateful that you put it up. But, I can't see where your hands are going most of the time. It's simple to write tab, Just print off a tab sheet from somewhere and then write the frets on the strings etc, Either that or put a tuturial up of you clearly showing where your fingers are bieng placed and slowly playing through it. I'm not good at picking up by ear and i've wanted to play this song for a long time so it'd be great if you could do it please. Thanks

  • There is a tab in the internet for 5$, I use it to learn this song.

  • "this sort of thing drives my wife mad"

don't i know it! mine says i get phrases stuck in her head like a broken record 'cause i keep playing the same passage over and over again.

btw: great harmonics! they ring out true.

i can't read your headstock, what kind of guitar is that? custom?

  • dang... excellent. You may not take yourself seriously but you obviously take music seriously :) Great stuff.

  • This was more than a great performance, it's a triumph. The guitar sounds identical to the original and you may even have outdone the original in overall performance. -Ron

  • Thanks man, very kind words. I don't quite think it's as good as the original though...lets not get carried away now.......

  • Nice one, first time I have seen anybody play this. Your version is right on!

  • very very nice. i wish i could play this like you. 5/5

  • really quite good. it's an open tuning, right? somehow i never realized that. my version doesn't have nearly as impressive guitar work.

  • yeah this is great. I try to play Armestice Day a year ago and I can't do it so nice.

  • Dude, cover Something So Right, and see if you can do Still Crazy

  • well still crazy on guitar? this isn't a very good idea ;) and it's difficult to sing, especially the last "oaaa still crazy".

  • Good job .. really sounds nice. 5/5 from me !

  • GREAT guitar performance. Amazing.

  • my bad...i didn't open my eyes!!! i love DADGAD. thanks again!

  • thats fantastic! whats the tuning on that one?
