@foxdmulder Thanks for that, as for me, well I've never owned a Citroen, but if I did decide to go and buy one, then I think it would have to be a DS like this one. I just love that shape. :-)
@007vauxhall Rather than show just a clip, then delete the rest of it, I thought it was worthy of the full show, then delete it. You don't see many around these days, so it was nice to see a lovely cool looking car like this on a warm sunny day,
@modemeyes Never been in one myself, and I dare say by todays standards the cornering would feel a tad wooly, but must admit even in 2011 they still look a cool car compared to the rest. I would love to go a ride in one.
@lezbriddon This is the first one of these that I've seen to date, but ask me how many VW camper vans I have seen, and I've lost count this year.... ha ha
DS a very comfy ride and really modern "Directional headlights" "hydropneumatic suspension system" "first mass production car with front power disc brakes" "power steering and a semi-automatic transmission"
@JBOGermany That was phenomenal spec list for its day - my dad bought a Renault 1600TS in the 70's, we thought it was really cool because it had electric windows, no radio, no mirrors, but it was comfy and very modern to us. This Citroen must have seemed space age back then... ha ha
@7784Patrick I too would enjoy going for a ride in one of these cars. I think many cars seemed big as a child, today I look at old english cars on the motorway next to modern cars, and they look so small in comparison.
Im my youth, I always thought these cars looked odd, funny shaped, but now Im older I think they stand out and look really cool.
@Jobergg I can well imagine it is, hydrogas suspension is very good until it leaks. Just like those big American cars in your films, I imagine those are very comfortable on a long journey.
@Bevoin1970 Yes american cars is very comfortable, I drove my Chevy 1070 kilometer one thuesday 2 weeks ago and when I arrived at the address I was completely refreshed, that's comfort:))
@Jobergg I can believe that. :-) As a toolmaker, Im used to seeing Press Tools produce body panels for modern cars, I can only imagine just how big those tools were to produce the american car body panels, and the power Presses that the tools went into must have been enormous!! A staggering sight, The closest we came to having an american style car was my Grandad's Ford Zodiac, with bench seats and column change gears. :-)
@1958IanM These cars just look so unique, they really do stand out from the crowd, I've never been close to one , and I'd love a ride in one, but not with this chap, his lane discipline is poor.. :-)
This kind of car really has matured into a classic, iconic beauty in the 21st century. I know I wouldn't turn my nose up at buying one if one came my way one day.
I did that photo shoot video once with a yellow coloured one of these, it had just brought the bride to the church, stunning car.
@steamwally They never really did anything for me back in the day, but over the years as cars have changed dramatically, now basically all being the same, the Citroen DS has really grown on me, looking as cool now as did back in the seventies. Its probably matured nicely now in 2011 still looking as stylish as ever...

I'm old enough to remember DS's when they first came out -not much cop at cornering, and as someone said the suspension was naff!

in her time she was a big car ,when you see it now ,it seems tight
citroen was always a pioneer in car technology
i have not see the front but it seems that it was the last model with the large light, the first model with the light who can turn to follow the road
i have never try this car but i have sitting in when i was a child,my uncle had a ds21 in the end of the 60s
thanks for sharing Paul

@Bevoin1970 I use to see a Ford Zodiac Estate around town here sometimes, I think it's a Mark IV.
I'll upload a video from that journey later, it was sun, rain and snow on that mountain run:)

@Jobergg Such a cool name for a car don't you think - "Zodiac" :-) Look forward to catching up with your video tomorrow no doubt for me.
Thanks Jobergg.

They were so far ahead of their time. Maybe a little too far.
Don't forget it was the mid 50's when these were first produced; space age stuff compared to other cars of the time.
You are right Paul. With everything looking the same these do look very cool.
