  • When I map the LFO rate to a button on my controller, the button I hit does what it's supposed to, but makes a high pitch piano sound. How do I get it to where there's no sound on that button?

  • @BrettLovesLlama try mapping it to a Knob not a button...

  • please stop teaching people how to create dubstep wobbles....

  • like after you are editing it in the simpler i have no idea how to make it play so i can hear it???????????

  • how are you playing back the new sound??\

  • So I have the same sound you do, and I can adjust it the same ways as well. My problem is that when I hit my key to produce sound, it cuts off after about a second though, so my "glide" feature doesn't work like that. Any suggestions?

  • thanks a million for the free square sample. been having a hard time finding a solid sample to wobble

  • Im using the same everything And once put it in the Simpler it will not play anything

  • how are you sampling the sound?

  • wtf are you using fl studio .01?

  • @RavenSinProductions ableton

  • I cannot MIDI map at all if I do not have a MIDI controller correct? In other words, I can't MIDI map with just my keyboard and / or mouse right?

  • @PraziaHasAChannel You can use automation.

  • i have nowhere to drag an instrument to

  • To go into MIDI Map mode press CTRL + M for PC and Apple + M for apple.

  • @itsTheJeffrey Oh, cool. Thanks man.

  • Would changing velocity be needed if you're just playing on your keyboard and not on a MIDI?

  • @Skraelingful No, the velocity does not vary for a keyboard since it is not created to be pressure sensitive.

  • also i cant seem to play the simpler. it plays the actual song instead of the simpler.

  • How did you do the 1/8 1/16 thing on 4:14 ?

  • Comment removed

  • i cant find the simpler..-.-

  • I have it all in place but I have no idea how to play it :(

  • holy shit awesome tutorial. thanks man

  • I downloaded it,but I don't know how to put it in Abelton.

  • @StealthClownz1 Same here. Please help.

  • @StealthClownz1 just use the file browser in ableton and find the file on your computer

  • @InsaneMilkshake I did and it said something the vst plugin can,t be found,

  • @StealthClownz1 oh hmmm im not sure then i've only been using ableton for a day

  • @InsaneMilkshake Thats ok, Its just making me rage.

  • How do you preview the clips... I can't figure out how to do it .

  • @drake389 Erm, playback or whatever.

  • Where do I place the sample he used, that i downloaded?

  • how exactly do you map the midi for the lfo cause i couldnt get the little menu to pop up

  • I got the same problem.

  • I know my question was a bit complicated so if you'd like me to rephrase is lemme know cause i'm stuck on what to do with this knowledge now lol.

  • awesome info!!

  • Question: So is the objective of getting multiple bass sounds/effects and such from making multiple basses each sounding different in some way then queing them however, or is it straight modulating the bass as you go along?

  • @DRAINObomb123 I was wondering the same one...

  • "Simpler" is a folder and will not let me drag obviously.. why is yours different?

  • @lHlxC Double-click it.

  • @lHlxC Go To Live Devices not Libarary

  • Soon as I drag a wav into simpler it doesn't playback. How do you get stuck on the first step? I do. Fml.

  • @Majestix808 Maybe your audio isn't configured correctly. Check Options-Preferences-Audio- and make sure you have the correct audio output enabled. :)

  • @Majestix808 Oh and make sure the track you're working on is armed (the circle at the bottom should be red). Tom Cosm has an incredible beginner series for Ableton (10 videos 1hr each!) The first one is free and is available on YouTube-check it out /watch?v=Ix2IErEHa7A

  • To everyone asking about mapping the lfo, I have no idea how he does it but you can automate it in arrangement view

  • Rubbish rubbish tutorial you drone on and on and dont even explain how to map the lfo whats the point of doing this if your not bothered about explaining yourself clearly?

  • when i do this it seems like the sound differs over the period of about every 2 bars. kind of like in a higher pitched frequency then lower pitched. rendered waveform looks like this ---> ~ I just want a sound that doesn't pan from left to right... suggestions?

  • When i go to map my MIDI i can only map one select key at a time on my keyboard. Can someone tell me how to map everything and not just a single note?

  • How do i map the LFO? i dont have a MIDI controller

  • can someone help me? i got in the midi map mode, but no matter what i do, i can't put anything into the map for the life of me, its getting quite irritating and idk how to fix it.

  • @Deltaclawz having the same issue.. I think you need a midi controller? I could be completely wrong..

  • hey guys, i cant figure out on the midi mapping how to get the min and max thing up in the right hand corner. Can anyone help? Thanks

  • @mimbriglio

i have the same problem :S

  • Much appreciated, let's keep this between you and I but I made the transition from FL Studios to this, and hot damn this is far simpler, yet shows much better results, plus it's muuuuch quicker to dart around between options and in making music completely.

  • great thanks now time to make extrordinary dubstep songs

  • This is was very helpful, Thanks!

  • Hello I have a macbook and ableton live intro. I'm currently pulling my hair out trying to get the link with the vst plugin into my vst library on ableton. Can someone write a step by step or know of a forum where it has a detailed description on how to do this?!?

  • @DubSpot disregard my last comment.. now I only need to to know how to get the note to last longer and how to get to MIDI map..

  • @thkristin MIDI Map button is in the upper right, the word MIDI. You can also select EDIT MIDI MAP in the OPTIONS pulldown menu on the top of the screen. That puts you in edit mode, click your mouse on the parameter you wish to map, move your fader or knob, then exit MIDI Map Mode and now that parameter is mapped to the knob/fader

  • @snalepa Thanks!

  • @thkristin to have the note last longer you have to click the LOOP button in simpler

  • @DubSpot I want the Bass he made Ive followed every step! I have everything setup but the bass sounds the same, no wobble no nothing! help!

  • is it possible to get NI massive on ableton?

  • @TheCamerondowns Yes, install it and then you would find it in the VST folder. On the left side of the Ableton file browser, the VST button is located just below the button where you find built in instruments and effects. Go into Ableton Preferences, then go to File/Folder tab, make sure that you have the Use VST Plug-in Folders set to ON. If for some reason it isn't showing up in your VST folder, you can hit RESCAN on that preferences Plug-In Sources, or quit and restart Live.

  • can someone PLEEEAASEEE tell me how to get the bass heard in this video

  • I can't find the map mode button! *-* Help, please! :o

  • @PyzzahZockt The word MIDI is located in the upper right of the interface. You can also go to the OPTIONS pulldown menu up above and choose EDIT MIDI MAP from there.

  • @snalepa Thanks 4 help :D

  • Operator so much better

  • man, this looks much simpler to use than fl studio, might just try it out...

  • HERE IS A EASY WAY OUT OF THE MAPPING PROBLEM :

    1. INSERT A INSTRUMENT RACK INTO THE MIDI TRACK.

    2. PUT THE SIMPLER INSIDE THE INSTRUMENT RACK.

    3. DO THE MAPPING WITHIN THE INSTRUMENT RACK.

  • I'm so lost i don't where to start i can do all the fx but cant hear it can anyone help

  • @MYDRUGISDubstep drag a simpler into the screen, then put the sample he let you download into the simpler and then do the effects

  • @MYDRUGISDubstep Make sure the record button is enabled (it is red) on the track where you have the instrument.

  • Nice video ;)! where can I download midi waves sounds?

  • @wapc14 freesound d o t org has a lot of free sounds you can use. Sorry, it doesn't let me post websites in here, hopefully you can figure that out

  • could you make a video on how to create your own waveform?

  • I know it's irrelevant but could you help me connect my Akai LPK25 to work on abeton live 8?

  • @MexicanHotPocket Install the drivers, restart, plug in the USB cable. In your Ableton preferences, go to the MIDI page, make sure that you have the AKAI MIDI selected for input for both TRACK and REMOTE

  • Nice to see that Keanu found work after the Matrix sequels.

  • My sample doesnt sound anything like yours whats wrong? when i first start it sounds terrible

  • @iluvally18 Not sure, could be a number of things. Maybe you are using a different sample sound as your starting point, maybe you are working at a different octave... the keys Z and X change the octave of your typing keyboard. I'd recommend going back through and starting over doing it step by step

  • i cant hear the sound using my midi map :( please help it sound so weird.

  • @DowgMusic1 Not sure how to respond to this, it is a little vague. I'd recommend starting over from scratch. Make sure you have everything set up properly in your preferences for MIDI, you need to have both TRACK and REMOTE enabled in the MIDI SYNC tab of the Ableton Preferences

  • what is the "duck" instrument i see?

  • @xXWaffulKingXx Where are you looking, where are you seeing it? Is it Donald or Daffy perhaps?

  • Do i need to have an external keyboard/piano to play notes or is there an option to use my computers keyboard?

  • @Mirobe55 You can use your typing keyboard to play notes. Just make sure you have the Computer MIDI Keyboard button lit up (it is located up in the upper right next to the words KEY and MIDI. You can then use the keys Z and X to change the octave that the typing keyboard is playing. The keys C and V change the velocity (how hard/loud it will play the notes)

  • @Mirobe55 The keys are A S D F G H J K L to play notes

  • Ok I did everything you did, but why does mine sound SOOO much higher pitch??

  • @jumpydrew change the octave of your computer keyboard by pressing z to go lower or x to go higher

  • @jumpydrew Maybe you are playing a higher pitch on your MIDI keyboard? Try playing a lower octave. If you are using the typing keyboard, you can make it a lower octave with the key Z. The key X will make it a higher octave

  • @jumpydrew Type in Z and X to change the pitch

  • i don't think people realize that you have to have midi controllers for it to show up in the browser..

  • @petarpwnsuall Is there any way to map it in browser without a controller? Or do you absolutely need one?

  • @petarpwnsuall Good point :)

  • how do you get simpler intrument

  • @ThePrancingStallion go to the Live Device browser section and open the "instruments" folder. You will see the Simpler and you can simply (pun intended) double click it to load it into a MIDI track.

  • @ThePrancingStallion It is one of the built-in instruments that comes with Live. It is located in the Built-in Instruments/Effects folder in the browser on the left side

  • i cant even get my simpler instrument to drop down

  • are you using the keyboard to switch between 8th notes and 32nd notes?

  • @dubspot What type of track do you use to put the Simpler in? It seems Audio or Midi will let me drop it in.

  • how do you play back?

  • Ok. What folder do i drag the download to? i downloaded the Zip file but i cant find it in Ableton.

  • Ok I'm having two problems. First off the sound that im getting isnt as loud as the sound hes getting, I followed all of the steps in the video but it doesnt sound as intense as his tone . And second Nothing shows up in the browser when im doing the MIDI mapping. wtf... Please help!!!

  • What was the tempo for this, it never shows

  • @reptyler123 the tempo is set at 140 bpm

  • @reptyler123 The tempo is typically 140 when your doing dub.

  • @reptyler123 the tempo i use is 70

  • How do I MIDI map with just a PC keyboard?

  • @lolusuck386 theres a tutorial on here that goes into detail abou that...lol i have to go back and watch it again though

  • @allaboutNDIRISH It's okay. I figured it out.

  • @lolusuck386 cool..i was playing around with that last night, seems it would be much easier with a MIDI controller/keyboard though so im going to get one...

  • @allaboutNDIRISH That's exactly what I did today lol. It's much easier.

  • Thank you! This helped me =D

  • same problem here when map midi, it dont show in browser like yours does.. to change it...?

  • @agdthatguy make sure you have the browser option shown. That little circle below TAP should have the triangle facing to the right. If not, click on it to show/hide the browser section

  • @DubSpot like it wont let me map the LFO

  • @DubSpot Its not there? I looked all over?

  • Hi, I am going to use this in a vid, like the file, to make the bass and stuff, Ill link your stuff and will credit you 100% ok?

  • i have ableton live on windows 7, what key do i press to get the LFO to my MIDI map? cant figure it out

  • @pk1992able You can click on the word MIDI in the upper right of the Ableton interface, or choose EDIT MIDI MAP from the OPTIONS pulldown menu...it will tell you what the keyboard shortcut is right there. All the keyboard shortcuts are listed in the pulldown menus up above

  • I think fl studio is better

  • @gR4nt1231 jokes

  • CRAZY EDDIE! CRAZY EDDIE! CRAZY EDDIE!

  • Ok, Im attempting to MIDI map but its not letting me do so. I press Command M and everything highlights like it does in the video, but when I press a key nothing shows up in the browser. Can someone help?

  • @dexikid1289 You need to highlight and click on what you want to map when in midi map mode with the mouse and then press or move the knob or button on your midi controller and it should map, i use the novation sl mk II and it has only 16 assignable items, 8 knobs and 8 buttons when in automap mode... check with your manufacturer to see what is customisable

  • when i download the sample i cnt find it in ableton? someone heeeeeeeellllp!!

  • @ollie11ily you can also just drop it into it

  • wheres the simpler :/

  • Dude, thank you so much for this video -- that was everything I wanted to know! You rock, sir.

  • I had it sounding like yours but oit sounds like the pitch is up or somthing. My settings are just like yours I dont know whats wrong..

  • how did you make it wobble faster and radomize the way it did at the end there? its driving me nuts i cant figure it out

  • @SirAtheoi He is using a MIDI controller's knob to adjust the speed of the LFO rate. Watch at 4:08 where this parameter is assigned to a MIDI cc.

  • @DubSpot And When It hi-lights blue like that, You just click beats to select it? Im trying to do that and "cc 19" is not showing up. Any clues?

  • @DubSpot i just bought an Akai mpk49, and cant for the life of me figure out how to map it like he is...tried several different ways, owners manual, message boards, etc..NOTHING is specific...if anyone has tips please share

  • @allaboutNDIRISH In your MIDI preferences, make sure that you have enabled input for the mpk49 for both TRACK and REMOTE. Remote allows you to map knobs and faders to parameters, track has to do with the notes you play on the keyboard or pads

  • @SirAtheoi If you dont have a midi controller, go to the small box labeled "beats" which displays the beats per minute, click and hold down on it, and scroll up or down while playing notes to alter the frequency.

  • Whats a midi keyboard? ;_;

  • so this is what brad pitt does when hes not snatching your children up

  • IF YOURE HAVING TROUBLE PLAYING THE SOUND LISTEN UP!

JUST PRESS "A" OR "B" ETC.

    HOPE IT HELPED!

  • @MyStudioMyMusic Actually as you may have already figured out, you have to press "A" or "S" or "D" etc. hope I helped some people :)

  • why can i not hear it when i hit the space bar? i've got my headphones on, but they're configured properly...

  • @MyStudioMyMusic RTFM!

  • i cant find simpler instrument

  • this may be of help to someone, at first live didn't recognize the controllers on my midi keyboard. to enable those you need to open up preferences-midi and make sure the "remote" option is set to "on" for your keyboard

  • does he use a keyboard rather than the on screen one??? :)
