Vista is great! the media made people believe it was crap, when in reality Vista is better than that 10 year old OS titled "Windows Experience" or 'XP' for short.
People say Vista is slow, it is not, I have had Vista for well over a year now, and I have to say it's a great operating system; I especially like the search bar in the 'Start' menu, I also like the style of everything XP is one fugly looking thing.
It also plays games nicely for me!

I've found ALL Wondows OS absolutely hateful. Do you do any work on it? I use them, reluctantly, for structural analyses for work. The whole drag 'n drop, clickety-click experience is very crumbly. Each folder defaults to "icons" for the display, so you change it to "details" but then the column widths are nerv wide ebough, so you have to drag the headings to the right width, only to move a coulumn.

I currently have Windows Vista, and i keep trying to love it, but man this system has some very serious driver issues. I'm so tired of my microphone just going mute for no reason whatsoever, my game's video glitches, game sound failure, cant use my old video cam, wich has better quality than the new one. I have decided changing back to XP or going 7, people say 7 is awesome. Maybe Microsoft should consider burying all Windows Vista copies, in the desert right next to E.T.

I used Vista had none of the problems mentioned in the video and the price of XP in 2007 was around £100 compared to vista which was about £140. The website in this video is PC world and they overprice stuff like crazy and have a rubbish service. I know this video is old as well and from what the videos pov is targeted at gamers.
Hey guys this video was published in 2007.Now we are at 2011 and vista is all right.Of course windows 7 is better.Like many new things Vista had problems but most of them are solved by now.I personally find Vista a great OS and i have experienced no problems since the day i bought it.

Everything in the video is true. I've had vista for over a year and while you don't hate it, I do. Now my computer is royally fucked up and can't run because of driver failure, all vistas fault. I'm swapping to XP as soon as the damn thing will run.
Vista did show problems of an OS that wasn't ready(still better than OSX), but 7 show's what Vista should have been and proves the idea was a good idea.

when i update, i get a new desktop/laptop that already has it installed. costs about the same or some times less, every things compatible, no worries. recover the old one and sell it after putting every thing i want to keep onto a disc or flash drive.

You're missing 2 big things, but still good video. Windows Vista wastes power and RAM by monitering itself. Microsoft doesn't want people to make illegal copies. But unfortuneatly, it has screwed up on over 500,000 cases. You will need more RAM to run smoothly. And for music and video listeners... Windows Vista uses DRM (Digital Rights Management). You can look that up if you like :)

Vista Basic was a bummer but the present version is way better than XP (I have Ultimate, 64 bit, although the 32 was fine, appart from the 3 GB RAM limitation)

For example I just went to a folder where I have a few dozen MPEG 2 files ready to be burned to DVD. For years Windows has shown a thumbnail without any bitching because I have external applications that install the required codec. Now the morons of Redmond managed to screw that up, and all I see is a ugly black box when the thumnail use to be. I changed nothing. I added nothing. I deleted nothing. All that is new were the last 11 "updates", one of which obviously overwrote something.

Vista is far superior to xp. Xp never had the security or stability of 2000 pro yeah ultimate is expensive but you don't need ultimate just home premium. Anytime a new os comes out everyone bitches. I remember when xp was the worst thing ever. Vista tuned properly will run on 384 mb ram. Get rid of your outdated software and hardware and you will be fine. Its not vista fault it doesn't like your hardware or software its the manufactuer.

Those interface things can be turned off so they won't eat so much RAM! or simply get hell lots of ram and get a 64 bit Vista :D

I've been using vista for over a year and I haven't had any problems with it. Fixing the bugs is quite easy, and all software and games I have work fine. Yes, viruses suck, but it's not like they're too terribly difficult to get rid of. I hate the look, but it's easy to fix with with customization. Would I rather have a Mac? Probably, but I'm content with what I have. Just my two cents. :)
Microsoft had to start SOMEWHERE. And they are now beginning a new generation of Windows. Windows XP was just Windows NT / 2000 with a blue skin, and a little bit more options. So that system is becoming outdated, so they had to start something new, that is Vista. And no wonder it sucks, like you can build a house the first time without ANY problems. Vista is just a beta to the new Windows generation. And yes it does sometimes make your head ache, but always remeber, Vista was the big start.

I run Vista, my friends run vista, my other friends run vista, and nobody's unhappy with Vista. Yes I like the awesome features of Windows 7 and I think Windows 7 also looks really awesome... but Vista doesn't have problems. I can't afford Windows 7 so I'm still running Vista. It's still working great though.
If you upgraded from XP to Vista, yeah it might be a little slower than XP because you just took every Windows file and replaced it. Run Disk Cleanup :l. It's XP with Aero glass..
I really like the Windows OS, but Vista is basically like ME. They were both extreme failures. Vista was a step backwards. Windows 2000, XP, and 7 are the 3 top OSes in my book, with all the Mac OS X versions behind them.
I used Windows OS for six years. That was enough for me! So I started to think about switching to Mac. And this is what I did. I love Mac OS X and my Mac Mini. Everything works. I even don´t need to install drivers.

You could argue that Windows 7 doesn't do a whole lot different either, some of the reasons apply here apart from 6, 4, 3, 2 , and even 1 on some older machines

I had a LOT of trouble finding drivers for Vista. From my video card all the way to my printer.
Video cards Speed/RAM is not that important as far as Vista goes.
Vista also uses a very different RAM management technique then it used to. Not a bad one but different.

The main issue with Windows has nothing to do with drivers, game playing, the side bar, Aero eye candy or any of your points. The main issue is Windows is infested with coding errors which makes it prone to crash, prone to easy attack by hackers, prone to crash, sputter, run slow and hang-up.
I have a compaq preserio f500 i got it in 2007 its a laptop. It is running vista home basic. it has only 512 MB RAM, The 2 games i play on it are high graphic, 18 Wheels of steel, and sim city societies. both require a nvidia graphics card. they both play fast and i never have lockup troubles. people just need to know how to use it. ive gotten one virus since the 3 years ive had it. i think it's great.
The main problem with Vista was the hardware requirements. Most computers didn't meet it, yet it was put onto them anyways. I enjoyed Windows Vista, but I was glad when Windows 7 came out to replace it. To be honest, it'd take a lot to get me to use it again.

@raiyansp Vista is more designed for business than gaming. And it's not good for productivity either cause there's delays even with opening something unless you have virtually a small supercomputer.

Vista is great! the media made people believe it was crap, when in reality Vista is better than that 10 year old OS titled "Windows Experience" or 'XP' for short.
People say Vista is slow, it is not, I have had Vista for well over a year now, and I have to say it's a great operating system; I especially like the search bar in the 'Start' menu, I also like the style of everything XP is one fugly looking thing.
It also plays games nicely for me!
People who say it's crap are using a 10year old pc.

I've found ALL Wondows OS absolutely hateful. Do you do any work on it? I use them, reluctantly, for structural analyses for work. The whole drag 'n drop, clickety-click experience is very crumbly. Each folder defaults to "icons" for the display, so you change it to "details" but then the column widths are nerv wide ebough, so you have to drag the headings to the right width, only to move a coulumn.

I currently have Windows Vista, and i keep trying to love it, but man this system has some very serious driver issues. I'm so tired of my microphone just going mute for no reason whatsoever, my game's video glitches, game sound failure, cant use my old video cam, wich has better quality than the new one. I have decided changing back to XP or going 7, people say 7 is awesome. Maybe Microsoft should consider burying all Windows Vista copies, in the desert right next to E.T.

I used Vista had none of the problems mentioned in the video and the price of XP in 2007 was around £100 compared to vista which was about £140. You're missing 2 big things, but still good video. Windows Vista wastes power and RAM by monitering itself. Microsoft doesn't want people to make illegal copies. But unfortuneatly, it has screwed up on over 500,000 cases. You will need more RAM to run smoothly. And for music and video listeners... Windows Vista uses DRM (Digital Rights Management). You can look that up if you like :)

Vista Basic was a bummer but the present version is way better than XP (I have Ultimate, 64 bit, although the 32 was fine, appart from the 3 GB RAM limitation)

The main issue with Windows regardless of version is it is poorly written, bloated and carries old errors forward. Every newer version of Windows as a "bonus" contains unfixed bugs from the prior version. This is easily confirmed as each new version when first released is first praised, then over time cursed as the bugs make themselves known. For example I just went to a folder where I have a few dozen MPEG 2 files ready to be burned to DVD. For years Windows has shown a thumbnail without any bitching because I have external applications that install the required codec. Now the morons of Redmond managed to screw that up, and all I see is a ugly black box when the thumnail use to be. I changed nothing. I added nothing. I deleted nothing. All that is new were the last 11 "updates", one of which obviously overwrote something.

Vista is far superior to xp. Xp never had the security or stability of 2000 pro yeah ultimate is expensive but you don't need ultimate just home premium. Anytime a new os comes out everyone bitches. my laptop is vista, and sometimes it just decides to save or not save documents. does anyone else have this problem and know how to fix it?
Vista behaves like it has prior commitments and it doesn't have time to do anything for me, so it just chooses to work or not work on a whim.
And i also don't see why people get offended about people hating vista. get a fucking life. life is too short to get offended on behalf of a computer OS.

ino people with vista that have new pc's and my 3 year old machine is faster usin windows xp, and like shown in this video theres little reason to upgrade to turn your machine in to a slow unreliable overpriced machine :)
same with windows 7 little reason to upgrade even if its not the mighty flop vista was

I've been using vista for over a year and I haven't had any problems with it. Fixing the bugs is quite easy, and all software and games I have work fine. Yes, viruses suck, but it's not like they're too terribly difficult to get rid of. I hate the look, but it's easy to fix with with customization. Would I rather have a Mac? Probably, but I'm content with what I have. Just my two cents. :)

Microsoft had to start SOMEWHERE. And they are now beginning a new generation of Windows. Windows XP was just Windows NT / 2000 with a blue skin, and a little bit more options. So that system is becoming outdated, so they had to start something new, that is Vista. And no wonder it sucks, like you can build a house the first time without ANY problems. Vista is just a beta to the new Windows generation. And yes it does sometimes make your head ache, but always remeber, Vista was the big start.

Fuck all of you Vista haters! I had my computer for a year and it is not slow. You fucking Vista haters are such lazy asses, meaning your such a pussy. You don't even try to disable things that pop up. Don't blame the OS, its the RAM or disk space. Or maybe you are just too dirt poor to actually buy Vista. Mac OS is not bad at all. The only failure is the gaming.

I run Vista, my friends run vista, my other friends run vista, and nobody's unhappy with Vista. Yes I like the awesome features of Windows 7 and I think Windows 7 also looks really awesome... but Vista doesn't have problems. I can't afford Windows 7 so I'm still running Vista. It's still working great though.
If you upgraded from XP to Vista, yeah it might be a little slower than XP because you just took every Windows file and replaced it. Run Disk Cleanup :l. It's XP with Aero glass..

I really like the Windows OS, but Vista is basically like ME. They were both extreme failures. Vista was a step backwards. Windows 2000, XP, and 7 are the 3 top OSes in my book, with all the Mac OS X versions behind them.

I used Windows OS for six years. That was enough for me! So I started to think about switching to Mac. And this is what I did. I love Mac OS X and my Mac Mini. Everything works. I even don´t need to install drivers.
I really hate Windows OS since Vista. The compatiblity and performance is the worst I´ve ever seen...

sorry doc800 but you have to delete this video from 2007, TODAY all of the programs are COMPATIBLE with windows vista and all of the programs, and WTF you say speed? since 2008 I have windows vista ultimate, and in 2008 my pc was 1536mb ram, 2.4ghz, integrated graphics 256mb... and crashes ... popups? EVER in my pc EVER vista crashed and I NEVER see an popup. Vulnerability? OMG all of the windows have vulnerability just BUY/DOWNLOAD good antivirus like avira and there's no problem

what horrible answers why vista isnt good, having a default security setting how is that a floor, noobs always get viruses, price? its new ocouse its costly... i had xp, vista, windows 7 and i found that vista ran 100% everything i asked including 30+ programs and 30+ games as well as xp windows 7 does not support 2/6 games i actually play (trickster online because of the gameguard issue) and rise and fall because of starforce... speed is the definate reason why windows 7 is better.

well, lets wait a year, see what Microsoft might come up with, CRAP, although, it would just be best for them to update vista and make it so it's fit for gaming (like when you launch an application, the CPU should focus yes on the OS, but more on the application), so yeah, that's all I would want done, THEN I would have a reason to upgrade to vista (using XP, and it's awesome, or better than the other microsoft OSs)

I cant understand how people had so much problems with vista.
I had Vista Utlimate 32-bit and it worked fine.
I never had BSODs and slow shit.
It was fast, my computer worked better with vista than xp.
If you ask me. XP SUCKS!!!

You could argue that Windows 7 doesn't do a whole lot different either, some of the reasons apply here apart from 6, 4, 3, 2 , and even 1 on some older machines

5. No, that's a myth. Runs fine on low graphics card, all about the RAM.

1. You don't need to run aero and side bar crap, you can turn them off.
If you can use a computer, there are no issues with vista. There may be more hurdles than in win7, but not impossible to solve.

@mathushanth An OS should be dummy proof. Little point in defending it. It's a pile of muck for both the developer and especially the average user. Microsoft insist on reinventing the wheel. WTF is UAC? Unix has been handling users properly since the 70s.

@mathushanth Microsoft windows has always been easy to hack into. Until Vista came along. Although those security (yes or no) questions may be extremely annoying it does protect the end user from doing something stupid.
I had a LOT of trouble finding drivers for Vista. From my video card all the way to my printer.
Video cards Speed/RAM is not that important as far as Vista goes.
Vista also uses a very different RAM management technique then it used to. Not a bad one but different.

The main issue with Windows has nothing to do with drivers, game playing, the side bar, Aero eye candy or any of your points. The main issue is Windows is infested with coding errors which makes it prone to crash, prone to easy attack by hackers, prone to crash, sputter, run slow and hang-up.

I have a compaq preserio f500 i got it in 2007 its a laptop. It is running vista home basic. it has only 512 MB RAM, The 2 games i play on it are high graphic, 18 Wheels of steel, and sim city societies. both require a nvidia graphics card. they both play fast and i never have lockup troubles. people just need to know how to use it. ive gotten one virus since the 3 years ive had it. i think it's great.

The main problem with Vista was the hardware requirements. Most computers didn't meet it, yet it was put onto them anyways. I enjoyed Windows Vista, but I was glad when Windows 7 came out to replace it. To be honest, it'd take a lot to get me to use it again.

this is weird because i have a original windows xp profresional and i have windows vista home premium and i have a mac theme on it and
my rating is 1.0 and 768 ram
and yeah its somewhat slow but that's because of my computer naturally is kindda slow and my video card just like sucks you know

@ 3:47 . I totally agree with you in that issue buddy, all of my FAVORITE Rockstar games of all time did not work on Vista, like Vice city, san andreas. But in 7, they work just like they used to in XP! Trust me.

@FortitudeOfHeaven Well when installed vista on my new hp compaq presario cq41 (i5 processor 2.27GHz 2GB RAM 320gb hard disk) and installd vista then installd vice city n san andreas,i fel of my chair seeing that vc froze n my screen blinkd n then the game crashed after every 1min,and san andreas was like a CRAP,the text were mirrored,wrong colors,very slow,crashed wen fire wepons,wrong pic positions n crashed but wen i upgraded to 7 on 15feb2009,i was amazd to c everything was alright n FAST

@raiyansp Vista is more designed for business than gaming. And it's not good for productivity either cause there's delays even with opening something unless you have virtually a small supercomputer.

I thought "Home Premium" is the best choice for home users,and dont home users play games when they have nothing to do or had finished work/homework?and thats not even designed to run older games,all rockster games and old games(nfs 2Se) does not work properly even in comptability mode!But i am glad now that microsoft fixed all of this in windows 7,ive now upgraded to 7 ultimate after i was satisfied with home premium,now i had put my money in good use.
