  • @mywordIsay The horse had bruised shins but...it lived.

  • YOU KNOW GROW UP. ALL YOU MEN ON HERE SAYING SHE'S A MORON AND A BITCH AND IT WAS STUPID CAN GO F*** THEMSELVES.

you guys have NO F****** idea what it must have been like to be a women, and what it still is like to be one.

REALLY. YOU ARE ALL WORHTLESS AND INSENSITIVE SHITS.

thanks for reading this ;) xx

  • I agree that she was a very brave woman.

But what had that poor horse ever done to her ??

  • What a stupid woman, she was no better than a terrorist. Born a moron, lived a moron, died a moron.

  • @Videodrome24 you think wanker

  • It is forgotten that many men did not have the vote in the UK either. Some facts:-

Reform Act 1832:- Resulted in 15% males having the vote.

Representation of the People Act 1884:- Increased suffrage but still 40% of men could not vote.

Representation of the People Act 1918:- Universal suffrage for males over 21, females over 30.

Representation of the People Act 1928 - Universal suffrage all over 21.

In photos the policemen arresting the suffragettes did not have the vote either.

  • She was not killed instantly, but died four days later from her injuries which included a fractured skull and damage to her internal organs. She had been trying to attach the suffragette flag on the King's horse. She had been practicing on the horses that pulled carriages past her house for weeks beforehand.

  • This situation is not about lifeboats or otherwise, women and children being rescued first has been from the point of gallantry. Womens suffrage is in regards to actual rights, like being able to get a job other than one domestic + to be able to vote and have a say. Sexism is a result of powerplay, which has existed since the beginning of time. And generally, men hold power over women. Dont act all tough online about sexism behind a computer, go read your history books you so obviously neglect.

  • She was trying to grab the reins of the horse actually. Go read up on history people

  • nobody actually knows if she intended on commiting suicide or if she wanted to grab the horses reins as when they attended to her body the inside of the coat had the sufragette flag stitched to the inside of it

  • brave lady doing what she believed in,within 5 years thered be loads in that crowd losing their heads in WW1,and that was what gave women the vote, the work they did on the Home Front in WW1 plus the fact almost a million British never came home so that was womens reward for sacrificing husbands and sons

  • You're right,-but this 'saving their necks' is hypocrisy,& that's what I think they are all about! A modern case of double standards was when Spice girl Mel was getting divorced from her husband & said it would be 'unmanly' if he tried to get half of her money;If he had all the money,she would've gone for half of it."Girl Power" -means double standards;

  • Amazing eyesight you people have,-seeing her 'Trying to pin something on the horse',-was she that daft! -the speed that horse was going,She did'nt have a chance! I wonder what she & her movement thought of"women & children first[when a boat was sinking,]-& innocent women & children when killed in war;Somebody once said "women hide behind babies & menstration"-pretty accurate!

  • The suffragettes didn't think of women and children first you idiot. It was a sea officer in command of a ship sinking in the late 1800s i think who said "ill brain the next man who tries to get off this ship, women and children first!". If only that guy hadn't have been alive, we wouldn't have all of this sexism, which nobody seems to notice except me. Also, how can you say that the workers in the factories in the war were innocent? Were they not making the fuel of war - weapons?

  • TalonMercenary, you did'nt get what I said,IE- If the suffragettes fought against men not letting them vote, then why did'nt they fight against being treated like children & being allowed first into lifeboats,& also why did'nt they complain being called innocent when killed in bombed factories, making weapons?-you're the idiot!

  • no no actually think about what you just said. Why would they "fight" against being allowed into lifeboats first which saved their lives. Why would they "fight" against the being called innocent, doesnt that allow them more defence in treaties which state innocents should not be harmed? All in all, its about saving ones own neck, not fighting for what is right

  • that took some freaking guts

  • same here

  • she didnt go infront of it, she tried to stick something on the side of it, but ended up getting killed by it

  • There must hav been better ways to get the voote than killing and starving themselves

  • well how come Pankhurst and other leading Suffragettes attended Davison's funeral dressed in white, to try and portray the sense of her being pure and inocent, and conveying a view that she was a martyr for the Suffragtte cause?

  • amazing how they actually filmed it at the time! its a bit sick though watching that stupid woman get trampled like that

  • Dr. Who would know

  • She tried to pin a Suffragette banner to the King's horse so if it won it would havea Suffragette banner so people would think the King supported them and stuff...Well i was told that anyway.

  • Nearly, its regarded that she tryed to attach the suffragette flag to the horse/jockey so when he corssed the line the kings horse would fly the suffragettes colours. Bringing publicity towards the Suffragetter movement.

  • Basically what i said isn't it?

  • jake they didn't get the vote the world war effort got the vote.

  • wow... what a way to die!!!

  • Deeds not words!

  • I think Rustycleat sums it up best by saying

    "LOL nice music".

  • I know - that is why I said - bet she regretted it...

  • she died dipshit :P

  • Bless her, you are a matyr.

  • LOL nice music

  • The Suffragetes were not heroes or role models. The Suffragists are the ones who should be looked up to because they used peaceful protests. The Suffragetes did more harm than good in my opinion because lots of MPs saw their actions as reasons why the vote shouldn't be given to woman

  • oh wow ... shes a real hero going to extremism to get the vote for women ... yeh she ended up dead ncie going

  • well... i know this may sound weird, but evidence suggests that she did not intend to die as some of the items removed from her coat included a return ticket back to victoria from epsom and various other items like suffragette flags which clearly suggest that she had plans after the derby. I agree that this is courageous but it's also really, really stupid. Yes, i agree that it was very wrong that the women did not have the vote, but the suffragettes' violence just aggravated the situation.

  • ye, i think she did have other plans after. but ! something made her do it... i think she just went for it without even knowing she was going to... something must have changed her mind

  • no she had the suffragete banner because she wanted to put it on the kings horse so that if it won it would be flying the Suffragete flag

  • she didnt have a banner

r u stupid she wanted to take down the kings horse to show how extreme the women were willing to get if they didnt get their equality

have u heard of how the women starved themselves in jail either???

go back to school and learn something

  • rynoldinho, I am at school and have just spent a lesson on her death :P That burst your bubble. If you don't believe me look in the modern history textbook by Ben Walsh. It specifically says that she wanted to put the banner on the knigs horse so that it would go through the finishing line flying the sufrragete banner

  • What was she thinking.

  • englandrog94: It's men like you that kept women down and under the male thumb. This lady did what she believed would force a difference in order to *make* a difference.

Your response shows how much of a cheavanist you are. It's men like you (back in those days) they fought against for a *right*; there was no rocket-science behind what women wanted, they wanted a civil *right*

In other words they fought against people more intelligent like you; you arent worth the time actually

  • i was just saying it was stupid doing that frank. no need to throw a fit.

  • englandrob: Not throwing a fit at all. If she meant to kill herself or not there was no way she was just gonna stand up after the fall and say: "Now that showed you, didn't it!" Courageous it was and I don't think that can be argued with on firm ground based on what women (back then) *had* to do to be taken seriously. It's like women having their rights to vote taken away from them overnight ... what then? Sould those women who said it was wrong be spat on?

  • You completely and utterly disgust me. You spit in the face of a dead woman who died trying to get equality? I spit in YOUR face.

  • i spit in your dads face

  • the one you never had

  • yeye i doin this for history :P

  • hahahahaha me 2!!!

  • lol am wettin myself. lol lol olo

  • Full repspect for her,

I assume who made this would too, so why that music? You made it seem like a joke?

  • dumb ho, make my tea

  • She had guts. And she fought for what she believed in. Shes a hero to all women, not just the British. And I thank her and involved in the suffrage movement for what they did to gain womens rights.

  • I admire that women, she had so much guts.

Apparently she didnt intend on killing herself because when they emptied her pockets to find out who she was etc.. they found a return ticket on a train and a ticket for a show later that evening. The suffragette were great women. xx

  • me too

  • Hmm, i thin you will find it right next to "typo" or prehaps "mistake". Look it up

  • Wheres the evidence for this idea? My textbook doesnt say anything about a rosette in her posetions.

  • lol i concur. she killed herself. That is the thing that usually happens when jumping in front of a horse. If she wanted to kill the king there are much better ways that that (btw...the king wasnt on the horse)

  • Ive been doing Suffrage movement for my history project and the militant violent ones (suffragettes) were badasses there was this one women who threw an axe at the prime miister LoL. And this women Emily Davison was awesome and this idea was great but a foolhardy thing to do in the name of equal rights for women.

  • I wish someone would throw an axe or a grenade at Gordon Brown. lol

  • Come on man, The millitancy of the suffragettes only hindered women getting the vote. The gov couldnt give in to millitancy otherwise every group that wanted to change something would do the same. If they continued the peaceful protests of the Suffragists then the vote would have definately of been won sooner...o yeah, i agree with gundy81...the music was inappropriate. She died...

  • finally, someone has sensible ideas! lol. Watched a vid today in history 'cause we're learning about them. I saw this on the related videos list and was intrigued. Saddened me like hell.

  • @muckletoon NO!.... Better at Justin Bieber! =D

  • @muckletoon Now we know Gordon Brown was a stoog, Cameron and Osborne are the @holes.

  • why the hell did you put the music on?

    what is wrong with you?

  • Emily, your a great women and you did that for us thank you so much. :) x

  • lol the reason she died was to prevent people with the same stupid attitude as you from having their say...shame on you

  • Actually it was for women to have the same rights as men, most notably the vote for women i.e:real democracy. what you're talking about is the restriction of freedom of speech, which is what a lot of people nowadays call fascist, which is not far off the opposite of democracy.

  • stop calling her a bitch.

    she was, indeed, very brave.

This is just one example of what length women would go to gain equal rights with men.

And people are stupid for forgetting that.

  • Don't u like NWA?

    RACIST or summit?

  • shut up you sad losers calling her a bitch. she was very brave for what she did.

  • What point did she actually go onto the track? I can't see the exact moment where she got hit first, can you see her ducking under the barriers or something?

  • i spose so, but she had been practicing - obviously not on the real thing. I still don't believe that she was a martyr for the movement though.

  • a Bitch With Attitude....RIP

  • Many people reckon on she was commiting suicide for the suffragette movement however it later turned out that she was trying to stop the kings horse and put a rosette for the WSPU on it so it would go through the finishing line wearing the rossete.
