I remember reading an article somewhere for this era, and Eric Carr was asked about Ace's place in the band. He stated that he was still in, but they were thinking of having an off stage guitar player as well...that would've been weird.
Ace was gone before this album was made,much yet released,They (KISS) only put his face on the album cover,he never playes 1 riff on thios album,it was Vinnie Vincent !! Don't understand why Ace is in this video,guess Gene thought,if they had Ace in this video,it would make more "MONEY" !! Heh,Heh,Lol !!
@merishane : Ace still did public appearances with the band, and was also in the Official "I Love It Loud" video. You are correct though, he never played one note on this album.
@Bpatch83 For me, it's a toss up between this and the Love Gun costume.
I DID see them on this tour, so it kinda makes this outfit special- he wore different boots, though.. the kind seen on the Rio show.. just as cool, imo. The base is the same, but the leg of the boot is different.
Never understood why if they wanted a big comeback with this album did they promote it overseas and not in the USA? If they had not fired Bill Aucoin this album and tour would have been huge! Gene and Paul were rookies when it came to promotion at this point, Bill Aucoin was the king of promotion.
@JENDALL714 You nailed it. Gene and Paul were just cutting their teeth with managing and promotion at this point. They were still quite young and they were kind of lost in the early 80's changes.
