I have a 1987 porsche 944S that has a 2.5 liter 4 cyl. It makes 180 hp. more than the solstice/sky and it doesnt have variable valve timing. It also has 4 wheel disc. I know for a fact it handles better. its been 24 years and america STILL hasnt totally caught up to germany.

I read on CNN's website about a month ago that DELOREAN is talking about bringing back the Solstice! Honestly, and it looks pretty cool, not too many drastic changes from the original. Supposed to be next year or 2012. I have the a dark grey convertible Solstice and LOVE IT! I will never get rid of it. The sweetest ride I've even experienced. Really, really sweet.

I love my Solstice! It's so much fun to drive. I actually enjoy it more then my brothers Corvette. Just wish they were still in production. It was stupid to shut down Pontiac when they had a great line up with the Solstice and G8.

No they don't make the Solstice anymore. The plant closed in July. WIlmington DE was the only plant making both the Solstice and the Sky. Google "pontiac solstice plant closed" and you'll see what I mean.

I really wish it had a bit more power with the base model, buuut it does have a bit larger of a 4cyl, so it will react a bit better to slight mods like CAI than things like the miata.

I think a company like Fiat that bought Jeep and Chrysler or whatever will buy Pontiac and reproduce the Solstice because I'm gonna buy a solstice for my 11 year old when he was 16 but now I can't. SHIT i guess that means im gonna save money

In April 2009, after GM announced the discontinuation of the Pontiac brand by the end of 2010, CEO Fritz Henderson stated that the Solstice would not continue under another GM brand. In May, he added that they would consider selling the Wilmington plant and the Solstice/Sky products to an outside business. That sucks.

i'm debating between buying a MINI S cabrio or a Pontiac Solstice, any comments/recommendations?

i personally would get a solstice. if you want a roadster, you want a car that's designed to be a roadster, not a coupe that is converted into a convertible. The MINI cabrio is more of a fashion statement to me but the solstice will get you more attention though. MINI is known for their fun to drive factor, so i recommend test driving both if your looking for something fun rather than on looks.

I already drove the solstice, and even though it's a great car, I wasn't that impressed with the driving experience. I hear the MINI is definitely a trip. As for the looks, well, I like both of them in their own way. I told to myself that the next car I'd get would be a convertible, because of how it feels like, you feel like you are on vacation all the time. Thanks for your comment.

Depends on how you want to be seen on the road. Styling speaks for itself. Now I'm not going to name names, but I wouldn't want to be caught dead in one of those "mini" cars. Solstice is gorgeous, get a gxp manual transmission.

Solstice looks like it would turn more heads. And it's priced real good. Don't get me wrong though I like MINI

If you can. Aim for the GXP which I think is turbo charged.

No problems yet, it's quick when need be and cruises really nice, takes corners at 40mph. Roof is on and off in seconds manually. I get alot of looks, even from people driving convertable BMWs & other more expensive cars. They could get 2 of these for what they paid for 1 of theirs, lol.
