yes, this video is God-awful, well, the song is God-awful to begin with so not a lot to to work with from the start. And it has nothing to do with the gay imagery. It's weird tho that Book Of Love has a song advocating safe sex/HIV prevention (Pretty Boys & Pretty Girls) yet there are images of people smoking in this video... more people die of lung cancer each year than AIDS... I'm sure it's the director's fault tho. Damn record labels and their focus group marketing-based budgets! Chintzy!
Book of Love's fusion with Flood producing the Lullaby album...a tight rich sound with an edge. It's one of the rare artist/producer fusions that will go down in history! After Lullaby, BOL sort of lost their way...away from their unique art school roots. BOL always took artistic risks (unlike the manufactured, controlled, "safe", "perfected", boring Britney-Jessica-Ashley-Lindsey dance crap of today!!) The Dominatrix Sleeps Tonight!!
Gotta understand, the "Candy Carol" album was Ted Ottaviano's 'baby', if you will. And it devastated him personally that it was so badly panned. The results of that you can hear on 'Lovebubble". Shame.
The CD5 cover art is great. It is a closeup of a nipple.
All of Lovebubble was a departure, which likely hastened their demise, because this was their last regular album. Even Candy Carol was a little off. They just grew up into something their fans were less interested in. Of course, you can imagine how unpopular they would have been if they had stayed in their '80s cocoon. Today that would be cool, but in 1992? Nope.
Hey, maybe us gays would be like everyone else, if we were treated the same and had the same rights and legal protections as everyone else. (27 states you can legally be fired for being born gay)
As far as video's go...lord if only there were as many with men strutting their stuff as there are ones with women flaunting their boobs and shaking their asses.
