  • I like the sedan better.

  • Great deal. We just bought 3, 84 Merc Lynx diesels for 1600.00 and 2 have good running engines. Ours sat for most of the last 10 yrs with periodic startups. Good job kiddo. People should really look at these seriously. ours don't smoke either. We have a mercedes 300sd too. Mazda RF4 engines used in these.

  • $400 is a great deal. I would pay triple what you paid.

  • great car :)

  • do you still have it

  • 2.0 Mazda diesel. not much on power but MPG omfg, makes me want one now.

  • Tempo L must mean Tempo loser

  • Kemp! What a funny last name!! HAHAHAHA!! You suck cock garret!!

  • @ToyotaFan321 FUCK YOU!!

  • @ToyotaFan321 fuck me huh? well fuck you

  • omg in my dreams I own a car like that! I want it!!!!

  • Your a FACKING fagot for doing all that shit to David , go fuck your gay ass tempo or what ever that peice of fuck on a shit is in the ass or should you ram its exhaust system up your fat ass pussy. PS lay off the woppers you greasy 250 pound pile of bird shit

  • Reminds me of the '84 Tempo I had...only year with the 1-barrel POS carburetor. Ran like a dog.

So, do you still have this car?

  • Comment removed

  • @jakesaintsrow123 Naw, the '84 was a POS. The carb and 3-speed automatic made it ungodly slow, it had electrical problems, and wouldn't start half the time. Bought it at a bank auction in '90 for $600, and the effing engine seized during the mile drive to my mechanic!

  • I believe that the diesel used in the Escort/Tempo/Topaz was actually a Mazda built engine. What I'm not clear on was if it was a Turbo or Non Turbo Diesel. Truth be told, I would rather have a VW or Audi Turbo Diesel....nobody builds a Turbo Diesel like Volkswagen. Ford could learn a few lessons!

  • why do you like those cars soo much? they are shit

  • man thats low mileage!

  • topaz how old are you bro? not to be nosey or creepy but you sound so young lol

  • you might want to switch that gas tank for a diesel tank and search DieselEscortOwners on yahoo groups

  • what do you mean its gonna save you gas money you just drive around the yard all day. that takes fuck all.

  • woo kansas city hell yea

  • another creap car the drives ^_^

  • hey if u ever decide to see it let me know.....ive been looking for one for a looong time

  • I guess they only have diesel tempo's in Canada? I've never seen one here in the US.. go figure.. I wish we had more diesel cars here...

  • @musubi69 they do have them here in the US....they are just very hard to find....my friend just bought one a couple months ago in Arkansas for 1900

  • That is a very nice car, i was just wondering if you still have it or if you got rid of it

  • lol u must be like a tempo kind of guy

  • you sure it doesn't just have a bad rod knock haahha

  • what happend to the tacometer???

  • the diesel tempos are great!

they have a very well built Mazda engine!

  • The wise people of the world know right away that this car could be bought for $400, cleaned up and sat on onto gas goes way back up, and then sold for $1500.

  • No he didn't get ripped off either. That's $400 Canadian. Go check out the asking prices on VW and Isuzu diesels now and see if he got ripped off.

For the people that stick their noses in the air and say oh I wouldn't drive a Tempo, you need a TDI, well I'm glad you are willing to spend much more money to make a better impression. That's why I will always be richer than you...with my Tempo diesel.

  • you got ripped off!

  • That's a real bargain for $400.00

My dad had an escort with that engine. They are really slow, but have excellent fuel mileage.

  • Why don't you fix that little rust bubble, wash and wax that paint up and keep it. Looks to me all it needs is a little TLC. Be proud of the rare find. Especially what you paid for it.

  • Awesome! I want one!

  • I wouldn't be caught dead driving a Tempo....buy a real Diesel....a VW TDI would whop this car.

  • @pcressma, I concur.

  • Nice I want it! lol my "Captcha" to enter comments was "fordical" LOL

  • Comment removed

  • great fine dude

  • its a Mazda engine.

  • That's a fine collection car

  • you should fox it up so its perfect and drive it as your daily driver if u still have it, that diesel should las alot longer, my dad has had v8 diesels with over 400,000 miles in them and they still ran strong when he sold them

  • you mean save you lots of money on FUEL

  • Nice! i love diesels!

  • sooooooooooooooooo stupid FARM it!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Great deal! All diesel cars should be saved and restored.

  • Good deal.

  • thats my birthday

  • that thing sounds like a beast man, awesome buy on a cool car.

  • Please don't trash this thing...it's a gem!

  • so i guess it's a 1985?

  • get a fuckin hair cut kid

  • How much do you want for it?

  • Beautiful Car man you got a nice deal cant belive it was going to go to scrap! me and my friend are working on getting his VM Jetta diesel canadian edition lol but every thing is in German and i can even read the fuse box panel

  • Wow, that thing is in amazing shape, especially for an '85!

  • did u sell it yet. if not how much do u want?

  • excellent find....great buy!

  • Thats a real time piece!!

....but all I can think about is how to fit a garrett T3 turbocharger in there some how. Bet it would move really nice if it had a turbo.

How does it hold freeway speed with the 5 speed?

  • how do u have that many cars

  • Hey luv the diesel.....My first car was a '85 Mercury Lynx a.k.a. (escort) Diesel. Prob. the same engine... good body on the tempo... to bad ford doesn't carry any parts to fix these anymore.....

  • yes it is the same mazda diesel

  • do you have your 85 mercury lynx???? was it a good car?? what model was it ?? a 2 door 4 door or wagon?

  • I only had it for 2 months sold it before going off to college it was a diesel 4 door. '85 Mercury Lynx Diesel LX. She was rusted out....

  • cold start it!!! lets see how good the glow plugs are.

  • lol thats sweet never heard of a diesel

  • the diesel's are rare, and equally ass cool as the v6's in my opinion if not more, the buzzers are simple to disconnect or remove, just cut the black wire, its a black box right by the steering wheel shaft

  • You mentioned that the battery is in the rear because it is a diesel. Why is the battery in the rear on a diesel?

  • The reason the battery is in the back is not because its a diesel but because there isnt enough room under the hood for it.

  • dont bother fixing those gasser tempos fix this this thing up this is a rare car! you could fix it up and sell it for much more than you bought it for

  • still got it?

  • wow incredible in mexico this car never arrive but congratulations for you

  • I might kill you if you drive it to David's farm. I've never seen one of these before. A diesel in a two door body - you scored big time.

  • DAYUM U LOVE TEMPOS AND TOPAZ

  • Maybe you can finally get laid with this mean weekend cruiser you eunich bastard.

  • DEE-SELL not DEE-ZEL

  • I can't believe ford made a diesel tempo... Never knew that. It will probably run for many miles. Diesel motors normally hold up for a very long time.

  • where do get money to buy these

  • wow nice shape

  • I'm officially jealous! Looks so much like my 92 from some angles, and it's much cleaner too. And diesel, rare find

  • dude, you just bought the best tempo i've ever seen since a very very long time ago, i've never seen a tempo like that...it's kinda special car...

  • Great find for $400. Keep it for the economy or sell it for a profit, cannot lose either way. Back when gas was 4/gal you could have sold it for 3,500 us

  • very awesome Tempo L. i'd love to find a 2.0 mazda diesel 5 speed. coulda had one 2 years ago, but was spending too much money replacing my 2.3 HSO in my 89 GLS. nice find for 400 bucks. wanna sell it? lol

  • why do you like tempos and topazes so much?

  • im 14 and i got $920 i want to buy a tempo for 1993 (gasoline) but i dont know where. i also live in the south west of Connecticut. any suggestions?

  • dude you should take this to davesfarm and make a redneck rollercoaster outta it or you could joyride it at daves farm those are really cool i wanna a tempo or a topaz when im about 16 im 13 right now so ive already started looking for one my price range is $300 to $1500

  • how can you afford a 400 dollar car

  • oops- forgot to add: Great buy for $400. Those cars in good condition bring a decent penny here in the states (I suggest eBay). They get fuel mileage in the upper 40s to lower 50s MPG.

  • Thats the one engine I havnt had in a Tempo yet. I've had a Tempo of every year, both 2.3L HSC and 3.0L V6 (currently own a 1992 LX V6). I'd love to find a diesel.

  • I hate fords but this one isnt to bad.

  • Yea that is a typical 80's deal LOTS of cars were diesel in the 1980's they were trying to be innovative this piticular motor is a Mazda diesel. It was used in Escorts, Rangers, and Tempos as well as the 626 and the pickups on the mazda side

  • sweet

  • I've never seen a Diesel ford sedan before!!

  • get her washed and throw a coat of good old fashioned Turtle Wax on her. Not any of that new fangled SHIT. I've tried numerous car waxes/polishes, found that the $3 dollar Turtle Wax is best. Will bring out the luster of that red paint. Red tends to fade as well, the wax is a good protectant. There you have it, a brand new 85!!

  • That Tempo is equipped with a Mazda 2.0 liter diesel engine. TIMING BELTS!! TIMING BELTS !!!! TIMING BELTS!!!! YES timing BELTS!!!!!! 2 of them! One for the cam timing one for the injection pump. Injection pump is MECHANICAL!! not an electric pump. Change the timing belts IMMEDIATELY if the cam belt is ready to go out, ALL OF YOUR VALVES WILL SUFFER! I do believe that it is an interference engine. Do the water pump while your at it, it should be up in front. Keep this car and drive her!!

  • very rare tempo, I wish you will be much time with it

  • nice car gaarret how much you want for it

  • Looks like a keeper, Garrett. Fix that one up and drive it when you get your license!

  • I, like Dave, HATE FORDS, but pleeeeeease don't take it to Dave's farm to trash. I can tell already that you want to take care of this car.

  • What year did Ford switch to a chime for their Tempo since I heard an annoying buzzer when you opened the door?

  • My guess is it was 1987 when ford revamped lots of their vehicles

  • in 86 they changed to the buzzer thats when they revamped the tempo/topaz

  • hopefully your gonna keep this car right?? and not " JUNK IT" like you said those other people were ?

I bet you its still driveable. if it would pass Canada emission laws if you have those kinda laws?

  • Does it still have the key-in-ignition buzzer/chime intact?

  • yes

  • the tach doesnt work?

  • Cool find. Take care of it!!!!

  • You need to take that car through a carwash! LOL

  • seriously man, quit spamming videos

  • Whenever you go to the junkyard again, get a bunch of extra parts for that, whether you need them or not, those are rare and will probably start disappearing from junkyards.

  • since they're so old wouldn't there be more appearing in junkyards? heh, Tempos and Topazes in general are rare down here

  • Not necessarily, 84 and 85 Tempos rusted out REALLY bad in areas that use salt on the roads, deeming parts useless.

  • Tis true. The first gen Tempos and Topazs at the junkyards near me are few and far between.

  • Is that a turbo diesel by any chance?

  • no just a diesel

  • You should wax it. Probably shine right up

  • Kinda of a tough perdicament here garret maybe sell it maybe not the diesel mileage would be great espically for this small of a diesel motor. I think I would keep it plus you cant beat the rareity of this car. great find and vid good to see you still like tempos.

  • You got a good one there, plus you could run it on used cooking oil which would make it super cheap, go look up WVO and SVO to see how to run your car on cooking oil, theres a bunch of films here on youtube about it

  • thought u were gettin a yota

  • he does, it's a '93 toyota tercel

  • weres the vidd

  • Does it have A/C?

  • i got my 1986 tempo for 200.00 even runs like a champ and its a 5 speed to hang on to that car they are very good on gas or desil

  • want to sell it?

  • No, its not. Its ready to be washed and restored.

  • Do you have any GM vehicles?

btw, you should register the Diesel Tempo

  • hell of a rare tempo you got there you sould keep it

  • is that a powerstroke lol

  • were do you get the money for these cars ?????

  • it a 5-speed Stick 3 on the floor like my 1995 Jeep YJ ...is it stick or auto ...

  • I normally don't like Tempos but this is one nice car! Great find! Plus it's a DIESEL!!!!

  • Great find Garret, I agree with everyone, DONT wreck this one, its way to nice/rare. I bet you could put it on ebay and triple your money, or save it until you get your license. Its almost too nice to see salted roads. I imagine this was stored during the winters.

  • Please, don't trash this car. 1985 models are quite rare, and diesel ones are even rarer. If this car goes to Davesfarm or in any other way gets trashed it's a crime against all cars. Newer ones are everywhere and you can trash them all you want, it just speeds up the process of them becoming rare, but these, there just aren't enough of left.

  • Garrett, I am begging you, PLEASE take care of this one, out of all the Tempos you have, just PLEASE take care this one.

  • was that a fucked up acura i saw in the backround?

  • wasent a acura it was a lincon

  • oh, my mistake. I Love acuras

  • i bet that thing does a sweeeeeeeeeeeet burnout

  • dont destroy this one.

  • Nice car Garret. That is rare find, didnt know diesel tempos existed. The body is immaculate for an 85. Best of luck with it :)

  • Garrett I will give you 800.00 for it

  • Great find Garrett. I never knew that ford made a diesel tempo. you should put it on the road and take it to car shows.people will be amazized!

  • bravo man thats a spring chicken indeed n diesel is rare in those tempos good job man 5 bitchin stars

  • Nice Old VERY OLD

  • or a spring chicken or whatever u wanna call it

  • a fresh cherry!
