noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! its horrific!!!!! oh well if you fly rc you will have crashes and mishaps like this, I piled my Sbach 342 straight into the ground, elevator failure got me. Its smashed to bits :( videos like this are therapy for me
@tradernorton05 it's called a hobby, abit like your bees. I mean who the heli wants to be a bee keeper. Now that would be boring, and you fly what for a living?? arn't you to old to fly??
@tradernorton05 It may be because you fly for a living. Before I became an engineer I loved to build hobby models. Now i get my building "fix" at work. I still build RC airplanes but not as much.
@tradernorton05 . your full of crap. if you realy loved flight, you would love the rc part to. they are scale models of the real thing. elevator. rudder, ailerons, and some have retractable landing gear and flaps. so if you realy fly then u obviously dont love what you do.
i dont fly , dam i never even been in a plane , but would love to be able to fly one of these babie's :) although i would prefer to learn to fly a large scale heli .
@tradernorton05 fair comment the clubs can be a bit like that, but try flying one , or just an entry level ready to fly, if your a flyer, like u are, you will enjoy your r/c purchase , nice day, open field, on your own or with a freind, very relaxing and fun. anyway happy landings.
has anyone ever been to a flying field ware a geebee DIDNT crash? they either crash on takeoff or landing..this is the first mid air collision ive seen though..i LOLd alot..any time i ever see a GeeBee at a field i always bet another field member that the geebee willl crash by the end of the day..i never loose the bet.. :P
Slow-Mo Debrief and My Two Cents: While trying to get out of the spin the control throws were in the wrong direction allowing inducing furthing spin instead of recovery. The slow mo showed up elevator with back and forth movement of the rudder. If you find your self in a spin with your plane use neutral or down elevator and rudder deflection needs to be in the opposite direction of spin. Said another way rudder deflection to the outside of the turn.
If your're talking about the biplane, he's not going to recover no matter what his control inputs are. The right wing is shredded and the engine separated from the fuselage. The aircraft's center of gravity is way off, to the rear, an impossible control situation.
@HeliFlightRCU Flat spins cant be recovered that easily. He lost the engine giving a more aft center of gravity, therefore there is pretty much no way he can turn the flat spin into a normal one (from where you can recover like you said).
@HeliFlightRCU The control direction was irrelevant - the engine was missing, throwing the CofG way back out of the acceptable range of the model. Chances are that having the engine removed, it probably also removed the battery/receiver etc.
@HeliFlightRCU and if you find your engine ejecting off the airplane you are going to have a SERIOUSLY aft CG shift which is going to make controlling the airplane very, very, very challenging...so while I also see some pro-spin inputs, I wonder how much anti spin inputs would have helped bring it back to earth...
I've never seen more incidents at any flying club than I have at this one. I will never fly there again. I had a problem with my plane and kept yelling "LANDING" an nobody could hear me, I finally landed because I had to, and someone jumped all over me for not communicating. I saw two mid-airs the day I was there, and a couple other incidents. The place has danger written all over it. If I ever go again, I'm bringing only my video camera.
OUCH again! Looks like some candidates for crashproofing! Although we only install it in foamies up til now, I'm sure that it could be applied to more complicated models like those.Beautiful planes, by the way!
At least the bipe pilot had "Smoke ON" during mid-air, so the engine continued to smoke on the way down... I bet that made it MUCH EASIER to track the engine's fall and find it afterwards. I've seen a few mid-airs like that where neither plane had smoke system, and after crash, when everybody gave up and went home, one plane's engine was STILL MISSING because nobody could see where it fell to have any idea how far from plane to look for the missing engine.
0;27-1;13; ''this is gee bee 1 every thing is fine, over'' ''this is bipe, poping smoke over'' then ''THIS IS bipe, a gee bee collided with my fuelsilage and i'm going down!'' ''this is gee bee 1, i've hit a bipe and i'm losing control of the plane and decending at an unsafe speed over!'' then, BOOOOOOM! nice vid
@wcolby oh, If it was yours I wouldn't have said anything because I had nothing nice to say, but I think its kind of an ugly aircraft... it sucked to see the biplane go down :(
I don't think the Gee Bee is ugly, but, I don't like it because it is so hard to control, in real life it was a dangerous airplane. Biplanes are very forgiving.
