I find it amusing that he thinks that religious organizations are supposed to be liberal. Unless you're a brand new cult you have to be conservative in order to be a religion pretty much by definition.
@adnanahmad23 It is a brand used by right-wing politicians for people or ideas not rabidly far right. Usually these opponents are merely centrists, like President Obama, who garners the additional title of "socialist." Of course, it is only a country which has no real information about what constitutes socialism, that such a term would stick to him. I think the U.S. is becoming mono-ideological, i.e. fascist.

It is not possible to maintain a civil society in these circumstances. That is why the elite own the police. And as history has shown, it is not the blood of the elite that are first spilled.
OK. I want to point out to everyone that the real problem lies in The Federal Reserve. They own us. Please google The Money Masters and watch it. You will have an epiphany. The ONLY ONLY ONLY solution is ending The Fed. There is no other alternative, otherwise we are moving into a slavery, as if we haven't already been there.
Oh Ive watched "the Money Masters", the Federal Reserve Money is Debt, Zeitgeist, Loose Change, Obama Deception. The fact is these types of movies provide simplistic answers for complex problems, the truth is much more complex, theyve turned everything topsy turvy by taking nonsense and calling it truth. They are designed to lure you in. Like a scam.
In the US, people are still drinking the "red" and "blue" Kool-Aid. So, unless and until people start voting 3rd party the O'BushBama continuity plan will continue as planned. It's not left right. It's the forces of monopoly vs. independence / sustainability. States need to start their own commodity based currency and State banks. The dollar / US Treasuries are on the chopping block. Be advised.
Liberals// Progressives/ MSM were very successful shutting down discussion on Obama's past and acquaintances before the election. They expected somebody different after he got elected?
Past despots routinely used idiot liberals to further their own Marxist agendas...it's history folks... usually followed by mass killing.
Liberalism IS the problem, everything else will fall into place once this is acknowledged and dealt with starting this Nov
Why have a market at all if it doesn't serve to increase the social benefits of a country?
Are you saying you would prefer income distribution similar to a banana republic? i.e. A small upper class, a massive underclass, and hardly anything inbetween.
This certainly has some very valid points... but who are the corporations? The same people that control the governments and the media. However, global warming is just another "threat" congered by the elite to scare the masses into their solution... more control. Yes there are major threats to our environment... GMOs, fluoride, HFCS, aspartame, and the numerous chemicals in the food water and air. These along with a monetary system that allows profit for those who destroy our natural resources.
@yourmajezty blame the koch brothers, the slimy bastards exploiting the filibuster, and the Scalia-types on the Supreme court who declared Corporations as people.
We deserve what we get for being a Nation of Consumers and Pavlovian Television Obeyers! Its kinda sad seeing Paul Jay almost plead among these intellectuals, Where's common Sense? We're all going to have to give our lives for any kind of change! Its also sad that every kind of Patriot has to be now a Proto-Nazi or Millitiaman or terrorist. The Media just labels to deceive! I fully support a 2nd Revolution! I know these are just words, and who gives a shit, right!!!
So, one day it'll be be corporations in open warfare instead of nations - a flat global economy becomes a battlefield with National Borders becoming less and less meaningful and protective. Private Security providers will become the new Armed Forces...
And who owns most of the corporations? And who owns the banks, And who owns the federal reserve?? Yes, the zionist jews. The jews are fucking bringing down america. WOW, Am i racist? you bet your ass ive known this for a long time now.. i just hope others start wakeing up, before its to late. i know real news is just showing us the truth, and they are Not racist.. but i am so glad this is gonna start getting out there. THANKYOU!!!
So basically you believe in the myth that statistical luck doesn't exist?
That there's some divine power that ensures that the luck of birth, the luck of being at the right place, right time, who you know, the effectiveness of advertising versus consumer acceptance. etc
That all of that sort of randomness doesn't exist.
And that compensation will always be equivalent to diligence.
UNLESS interfered by an evil secular force, like THE GUBMINT!!
@martinaoe2 that's the myth capitalists tell you. Without government every person would be ordered to work for a corporation for 1 penny a day and on refusal would have their children sold to slavery for 1/2 penny a year and you would be shot for saying No. Government and Police being non-existent, you would Obey and then you would Die. Immediately. Government is the last vestige of justice against the evil of corporate capitalist tyranny.
Sorry, thats not a sentence, and you want to talk about vaild points? Watch the video, you poor deluded fool, you want change then stop promoting the politicians who are promoting the policies that got us in this mess in the first place.
@GnomesAmok I just love how you think Ron Pauls ideals were in play to cause this crash! LOL. Have you ever listened to him explain this crash or any other Austrian economist? Be careful who you call deluded, it just might come back to haunt you.
Austrian econonmic ideals, I.E. free market worshipers ARE what caused the crash. But its more than just economic crash that I refer too. "This mess" refers to the political state where coporatations are treated as living entities, the end-all-be-all of prosperity, and Republicans work for them and not the people. They dont care about YOU and you follow them lockstep anyway, they are playing on YOUR ignorance.
@GnomesAmok Who knows? I just hate this circle of unholy wall street gang. They are behind everything distorting everything. By Labelling consumption as "wealth" , Debt = Money. Monetary expansion by means of loans, (If the real production behind backing an economy increases I dont see the reason why the country cannot expand its money supply without debt?!?" , It does not make any sense at all. ?!? IF THE REAL PRODUCTION INCREASES THAT IS NOT PAPER VALUES.
@UrielWN stock market sharks make money off of everything, it's odd you find this suspicious even if one of the many things they'll make money off of is the global climate change disaster caused by global warming. Of course they'll make money. if we fix it they'll profit from the fixing. If we don't, they'll profit from the collapse. Surely you didn't think they'd sit back or not figure out HOW to steal?
"A Day in the Life of Joe Republican (Conservative)": Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffeepot with water to prepare his morning coffee. The water is clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards. With his first swallow of coffee, he takes his daily medication. His medications are safe to take because some stupid commie liberal fought to insure their safety and that they work as advertised. (for full article do a search, there are many versions)
@cpmondello You make a lot of assumptions. If there wasn't liberals to fight for clean water you think others wouldn't? You think people would rather drink ditch water or subject their kids to it?
And what kind of suicidal people do you envision don't care if their medication is safe? You think companies that produce crap (and don't get government subsidies) survive long?
Last time I checked it only takes someone who wants to survive to fight for health.
you really think (the old convenient LIE) that science "forgot" the sun in their climate research? wanna fool us? or yourself? have you been fooled? Take your medicine or whatever, this is public.
@elitistagenda solar flares confer no additional heat because they deliver extra protons and electrons, all charged and deflected by our magnetic field. It's the field-oscillations after that cause us problems NOT IN PHOTONS but in electrical induction. PHOTONS deliver us heat, directly and after conversion to infrared by contact with rocks, asphault, trees, etc. SOLAR FLARES ARE NOT EVER DOING THIS. NOT FOR ONE SECOND IN HISTORY. Learn science for real.
There's an elephant in the room. It's big and it's red.
One reason why the American left is so ineffective is because it is afraid of the word SOCIALISM. It is not enough to be merely anti-'corporatist' or even anti-capitalist. You have to present a programmatic alternative. Hopefully we will get that in the next segment.
@RedGaribaldi Americans are afraid of the WORD socialism but don't even know socialism if they see it. What they see is Fascism and sadly very often are unable to name it, and in fact, call it Socialism.
They are not even close to being the same. The corporate domination of all government and all people is Fascism, not Socialism. The taking of all your wealth into all the banksters is Fascism, not Socialism.
Liberals and Conservatives can hardly be described as deeply divided - for two centuries they've been playing good cop bad cop with the peoples of the world, with liberals being the "soft option" that inevitably achieves the same thing as the conservative "hard option" just by different means. Not much of a choice in the end. Liberalism never truly opposed corporate control.
Hmm... NOW Obama is a "brand". I wonder, was the Real News reporting on Obama like this back in 2008. Bwahahaha..... yeah right.
.
Don't worry guys, American Liberalism can never collapse because American liberals can never be wrong, in fact, most don't even have the capacity to experience cognitive dissonance.
On the contrary, I'd say the problem with liberals is perhaps too much self doubt.
On the contrary, the lockstep nature of conservatives enviable to some extent.
Pretty much all you need to do with conservatives is proclaim Trickle Down economic theory works, abortion is evil, and war spending is sacred. And you're fine. (Of course with dashes of xenophobia for flavor)
About the only difference with libertarians is that they *sometimes* aren't okay with war spending.
"the problem with liberals is perhaps too much self doubt."
Self doubt? Definitely. But acknowledging the possibility that others might be right and they might be wrong? Unheard of. For instance, I've never heard any liberal ever acknowledge the possibility that forced taxation might be evil and immoral.
.
I am not a conservative, but they at least have the ability to experience cognitive dissonance (e.g. look at the tea parties).
Whether or not you consider taxation to be immoral depends on why you think we even have a market in the first place.
Me, my belief is that the market exists to serve as a crucial piece of infrastructure/incentives to benefit society, with more efficient resource distribution, diligent labor, and innovation.
One may on the other hand view the market as a sport to see who dies with the most toys. Society be damned.
Essentially it depends whether or not you care about Results.
(cont.) Furthermore, conservatives seem to really believe in what they do. When they started the wars, they really believed in them, even though that belief was in retrospect, quite stupid.
.
Liberals continue the wars, but they don't even bother to pretend believe in them (very dangerous and extremely fucking evil)
.
As for your confusion on libertarians and war spending, libertarians believe in the non-aggressive principle. You need to learn what this is to grasp just war theory.
@greyflcn You have no idea of what Libertarians are truly about so don't put them in with the socialist right or socialist left. This man speaking is on the money on many of the topics he states.,
Yes, but I do have an idea what Libertarians are in practice.
In practice, it's very little different than Reagan style supply side economics, because there's never enough influence to restrict benefits going to the rich and powerful.
And of course, what they both share in common is the core belief in Trickle Down Economic Theory. (OR a sociopathic admission that it would lead to an income distribution similar to a banana republic)
@schulwitz actually they were. Go back to 2008 and listen to the analysis. Progressives and Liberals don't all drink their own koolaid, if we did we'd be neo-cons or worse tea party followers. Actually, if you think that liberalism can never be wrong, then maybe you're experiencing the dissociative effects of believing one thing while the truth imparts another. BTW I get your sarcasm, but it only works if there's truth in the thing your mocking. Just saying.
@SandCmpbll . "Liberals don't all drink their own koolaid, if we did we'd be neo-cons" . You are neo-cons. You just don't know it. . Logic: Absolutely no major "Liberal" groups opposed the Obama in 2008 . Barack Obama supported the continuation of aggressive neo-con wars, corporate bailouts, and deficit welfare spending. . Politicians who promote aggressive "spreading democracy" wars, corporate bailouts, and deficit welfare spending are neoconservatives. . Hence, Liberalism = neoconservatism
@schulwitz K. Didn't really get my post, did you. The current state of of the Democratic party, (and I mean conservatives, moderates and corporate crats) do not represent the spirit of liberalis, i.e. I'm thorougly disgusted with the policies Obama has adopted, considering that are quite similar to Bush policies. To say that Liberalism IS neoconservatism is false. The current incarnation of the democratic party is Republican-lite. Which I DESPISE.
The fact that you grouped liberalism and progressivism together indicated to me that you didn't have any concept of the original "spirit of liberalism". To really understand the spirit of liberalism, you have to understand the history of the term and how the statists who called themselves liberals today hijacked the term, read F.A. Hayek on this matter.
Hillary Clinton admitted as much when she said of the term liberal: "You know, it is a word that originally meant that you were for freedom, that you were for the freedom to achieve, that you were willing to stand against big power and on behalf of the individual."
.
Hillary impressed me here, and this is why she labeled herself as a Progressive and not a liberal. She understands the difference, but most people don't.
.
Real liberals are libertarians (insert scary music here).
But in the real world global warming (caused by hundreds of billions of tons carbon emissions per year) is a well proven and totally logical fact ...and i tell you more: its actually the biggest challenge in human history. We are facing the threat of species survival and mass extinction. Right now. This is no overstatement. Wake up to reality...we need you all here...and fasten your seat belts.
@runisunke global warming is proven to be real, has been proven for over 30 years, no evidence has ever existed to show the opposite. seas are rising, humidity is up globally, temperatures are up globally every year. You must be insane to think some nutters spreading blogs are 'proving' the opposite. I bet you even think solar flares are involved. Nutter-talk
The Tea Party is the only populist movement in the United States today. We have a lot of work to do. Neither party represents the will of the people. Vote out incumbents in Novemeber.
@fliegeroh The incumbents need term limits. They shouldn't be senators for 40 years or more. There needs to be a cut-off point.
Nothing changes because Congress doesn't change. The crooks keep being voted in again and again until they die of cancer or some other disease in their late years.
Tea Party is populist? Try corportatist. Abunch of poor deluded fools who worship theyre masters and are afraid of change - they dont represent the population, they represent the anti-progress minority.
@GnomesAmok - Oh no, my friend, it is you socialists who are the deluded ones. And you are in a minority. Savor your last hours of power. You will be shown the door in November.
Thats what you every person like you I talk to ends up parroting. You dont make any argument, you just go "OOHH YOU JUST WAIT! WAIT TILL NOVEMBER!!" Well fine then. Just dont forget.... we all get to vote come november. Not just you republican/corporatist slaves.
@fliegeroh it's the socialists who are the only people with rock solid solutions to the economic crisis. The capitalists, the fascists and the technocratic/sci-fi concepts have all failed and will continue to fail. Socialism is community co-operation. Socialism is supporting local business, family and individuals close to home so they can continue to provide in their community. Do you even understand what the word socialism IS? I bet you think it's central planning. It isn't.
@ytgv3fc7 - It's government control of the means of production. It's a wonderful idea but pure fantasy. Capitalism is flawed, I agree, but socialism, when put into practice tends to lead to high taxes, low productivity and terrible services. Ask any Russian you know. No thanks. Socialism tends to come down heaviest on the middle class, not the wealthy class. It makes deals with and supports the super rich. Give me less government, not more.
@fliegeroh no, it's not - socialism IS NOT government control of production. FASCISM is via corporations, socialism CAN use it but NEED NOT. Socialism is ACTUALLY the co-operation of social groups, sharing resources not for profit but for preparation for the future. It can be entirely decentralized, it can exist with no government at all and no taxes, and it can exist ENTIRELY VOLUNTARY. Socialism never comes down hard on the middle-class, it comes down hard on NO ONE. Russians never used full
@fliegeroh never used full socialism but where Russians DID, homes and transport and food, the collapse was VERY MUCH EASED on everyone compared to other collapses in non-socialist nations. alexiscom1 on youtube lived right through it and you can ask him, he certainly has had a lot to say about it, as has Dmitri Orlov. Socialism is the ONLY way forward in a disaster-ridden future unless you WANT hordes of people starving and killing each other. Then choose capitalism for mass murder.
Chris Hedges is absolutely correct! Change you can believe in........MY ASS. Another liar. Thank you Obama, you've proved to us that ALL politicians are liars, crooks, thieves and murderers.
LOL please don't be talking about the Al Gore scam. GLOBAL WARMING IS A JOKE. Just like the Cooling 70's or whatever. "omg the globe is freezing"....ya a bunch of idiots.
You're confusing newspapers/magazines with scientific journals.
"Thomas Peterson of the National Climatic Data Center surveyed dozens of peer-reviewed scientific articles from 1965 to 1979 and found that only seven supported global cooling, while 44 predicted warming. Peterson says 20 others were neutral in their assessments of climate trends."
I try not to participate any more than necessary with the state anymore. While there are so many tentacles involved in it's operation, this is impossible to do so completely, if all of us disengaged ourselves enough from them, this would be more than enough to crash this system. Income taxes, working in black markets/under the table markets/or even not counting cash in legitimate businesses are just some of the ways one can fight without violence.
@wingsuitfreak this is one idea, there are many possibility. However, i feel as one system will work in one place, it will not in another. Money(which is not real) caused a lot of issues, look at corporations. Ideally, i think the US would have to be divided and the federal government removed and each state, maybe even smaller left to figure out what to do and made to become self reliant.
@Swansen03 I break it all the way down to the individual for me. Of course, I am an anarchist (no, not that fake violent kind used to scare the statist kids) and live as close as is possible in accordance with those views.
Why do we call our politicians "Elites"? What exactly are they elite at? Don't they work for us? How many employers call they employees elites?. none.
This guy talks about corporations, which is good. america is basically a Fascist country at this point. dont be fooled that it is democracy in america, there is none. government passes what they want without regard to what the people wanted. Corporations are BY LAW, a living person. Many corporations should be prosecuted.... Watch The Corporation on Google Video good documentary about "Corporations"
@LouieArrighi Thousands of scientists have sued Al Gore.He has yet to face his accusers in court. He also has not any undeniable proof that global warming is man made.Got stock in carbon credits yet? How's your carbon print? Give up excreating yet?
@greyflcn Tell me how can you refute Lord Monktons scientific proof and studies from thousands of scientists and some Universities? The earth is cooling not global warming.Point of fact. The Little ice age of the 18th century. You could walk on ice from Manhatan over the hudon rive into New York.Or for that matter the class M solar flares over the past decade.
1. Monkton isn't a scientist. All he has is an undergraduate degree in journalism.
2. Monkton invents his own personal laws of physics
3. He puts out so many versions of his psuedo-science gibberish, you'd have to reference exactly which one you're talking. Since he makes up his own "facts" every time around.
4. The little iceage had to do with a long term decrease in solar activity. Something we don't have now.
You haven't told me which of Monkton's "findings" you are even talking about. Like I said, Monkton has so many versions of his bullshit, so you have to reference which.
And I presented tangible, direct empirical proof just below your original comment.
To paraphrase it, solar activity has been down, significantly less heat has been leaving earth into space, but more heat is headed towards earth's surface. Primarily in the infrared wavelength we'd expect CO2 and CH4 to react in.
@BeantownJim yeah, there is a good amount of information that shows the ocean currents slowing, which is a big regulator of climate. It will get cooler
So what does whether or not heat is moved from one place on earth, to another place on earth, have to do with effecting the "TOTAL" amount of heat on earth?
Regionally it might make an impact.
But globally it makes no difference.
_
Not to mention, it's all kind of irrelevant to whether or not our atmosphere is blocking too much heat from existing out to space.
In 2006 they estimated that the rate of change was many orders of magnitude too small, to make an impact on thermohaline circulation anytime this century.
And in late 2007, the ocean circulation pattern returned back to normal.
Here's a wikipedia article summarizing the two scientific journal articles published in Nature. (i.e. One of the top scientific publications)
@Swansen03 doesn't look like that. The oceans can move heat around and even take some down deeper into the water but above the water-line there's too much infra-red being deflected, even on the night-side, back to the surface, keeping everything a little too warm, but it's the rapid change vs the change of evolution that's a problem. If suddenly a lot of living things evolve faster, including shorter life-spans, then species won't be in as much danger of extinction.
@ytgv3fc7 i'm not going to argue with you, i see you have a lot of ideas, fine, but going around pushing your thoughts onto others does nothing but create more of the same issues.Things that fit in situation A w/ people A will not with people/situation B, variability, difference of ideas, etc, ie one size generally does not fit all, we are individuals. federal governments seem to cause issues. fascism has a very broad definition, scholarly socialism = democratic means of production those working
This got nothing to do with liberalism... In liberalism, you are supposed to be free with limited government,,, freedom not subsidies,,, bankruptcies not bailouts,,, responsibilities not social wealth-fare programs. People are responsible not government... It should be transparency not secrecy...
@bjarnet3 "People are responsible, not government" Sry, thats a dumb corporatist slogan. If there is no government, there is no law, if there is no law, noone is responsible before the law. Sure, ppl are still responsible then - before their banks and their employers - aka their owners, who are free to starve them into obedience, if it pleases the shareholders. That is exactly moral nihilsm..
GloBull Warming benefits the banksters, the elite and the well-connected. Even BP, one of the largest and greedy corporations, supports GloBull Warming.
So why the hell do the (truly) corporate controlled governments dont just act? (kyoto, copenhagen etc..)
Not climate science or environmentalists- You "truther" fools are the useful idiots who (quite unawarely) support the immoral and destructive corporate agenda/ and repeat their propaganda upside down spin. Its crystal clear and obvious.
"So why..." IMO it's difficult because first the elites must indoctrinate the public. Indoctrinating liberals is easier than conservatives because liberals have a different view of government than conservatives. And global warming meshes better with the liberal point of view of solving problems using government.
"corporate agenda" The mega-corporations are vehicles for the elite toward their goal. The "truthers" expose corporations like MonSatan, Goldman Sucks, BP, big pharma, etc
"Indoctrinating liberals is easier than conservatives because liberals have a different view of government than conservatives."
But then why the reich-wingers love corporate warmachine, rush limbaugh, fox noise, fictional versions of reality and going to protest against(!) their own interests FOR corporate de-regulation ("smaller govt now!")
The government is a tool by and for the people. But it is indeed corrupted. By whom? By corporate (a-moral) special interests & lobbyists.
and the "evil" and in my opinion dangerous ("fascist" tendencies) guys there are mostly the right wingers and their blindly following naive "conservatives". Conservatism seems to be the naive, ideological part of society...easy to manipulate with populism and frog-instinct propaganda. Thats highly abused by (a-moral!) corporate greed and power.
@aerobique Oh man! I'm so tired of hearing this socialist nonsence; "Oh! we just didn't have the right man pushing the buttons", "It was the free-market that ruined it for everyone", "The government is for the people", "We didn't have enough regulation"....blah..blah..
Can't you see is that all you have with a mixed economy is just one mob trying to bash another by getting special favours from the government and all you'll end up with is zero!
@coltrane1966 aren't you the one spouting socialist nonsense? Aren't you the only one demanding any question of which person is the right one hitting any button? Looks like it from the comments. Central control IS NOT SOCIALIST. It is FASCIST and OPTIONAL in capitalism and in socialism. Decentralization is also very possible and costs less energy, hedges against more risks (capitalist or socialist). Free markets are fraud-markets, 1000000000% every time.
@ytgv3fc7 So people freely trading goods and services is fraudulent is it? You don't even seem to know what Socialism, Fascism or Capitalism really is anyway, I suggest you do some studying. As for button pushing, that is just it, there is no Man, Messiah, or God that can possibly ever know what is right for all people at all times and know what prices should be.
@coltrane1966 freely trading goods and services TENDS to be fraudulent, as the fraud is the most free, and most encouraged. Those who are not fraudulent have to pay more, work harder and get less revenue so it's a losing game, but some people try regardless. It's only in a market stripped of freedom, one designed to hunt fraud and stop it right away - by definition not a free market - that it's safe to be IN such a market.
@coltrane1966 I seem to know what Fascism is more than you do, I LIVE IN SOCIALISM IN CANADA where we use it for health care and food banks and worker co-ops so I KNOW IT FOR A LIVING FACT and you do not. I have done more studying and learned more powerful patterns perhaps than your brain can ever comprehend. It's not about what prices should be: the exercise is itself a fraud. It's what QUALITY should be, what FRAUD should be stopped, AT ALL TIMES.
@ytgv3fc7 Your reply makes me wonder how old you are and you make massive untrue assumptions as to my knowledge and experiences.
Setting the correct price is of massive importance, it is a way of conveying information that one council could never possess.
The USSR never even solved this problem, the best they could do was order magazines from the USA and copy the prices, but of course Russians aren't Americans and America isn't Russia so it saved them not.
@coltrane1966 setting the correct price is the choice of every participant, so what's important is that there's no fraud in it. You don't just set a price and hope it's right - that is both careless and sometimes fraud. All you need is no fraud and people will settle on the price-ranges that quickly adapt to needs. It's the real needs and real costs, no fraud allowed, that allow proper transactions and quality.
Prices convey NO INFORMATION. NONE. It's a fraud they ever did.
@coltrane1966 The USSR didn't fail to solve the problem, they failed to *have* the problem. They produced the right amount of supply for the right amount of people. Only one thing went wrong in the USSR: they had an expensive nuclear arsenal and diverted too much money away from the economy to keep it going. Now they don't. Now they're getting very rich as a nation and using oligarchy-capitalism to keep the little people down.
Prices have no ability to convey non-price data at any time.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@ytgv3fc7 You remind me of a cartoon where there was a picture of a big soviet freight train, it had lots of trucks but all were carrying just one giant big nail even though the people in reality needed small nails and so many houses had no roofs. Which actually happened, why?.

OK. I want to point out to everyone that the real problem lies in The Federal Reserve. They own us. Please google The Money Masters and watch it. You will have an epiphany. It's the forces of monopoly vs. independence / sustainability. States need to start their own commodity based currency and State banks. The dollar / US Treasuries are on the chopping block.

RedGaribaldi 1 year ago 9

Don't worry guys, American Liberalism can never collapse because American liberals can never be wrong, in fact, most don't even have the capacity to experience cognitive dissonance.
schulwitz 1 year ago
@schulwitz
About the only difference with libertarians is that they *sometimes* aren't okay with war spending.
greyflcn 1 year ago
@greyflcn
"the problem with liberals is perhaps too much self doubt."
Self doubt? Definitely. But acknowledging the possibility that others might be right and they might be wrong? Unheard of. For instance, I've never heard any liberal ever acknowledge the possibility that forced taxation might be evil and immoral.
.
I am not a conservative, but they at least have the ability to experience cognitive dissonance (e.g. look at the tea parties).
schulwitz 1 year ago
@schulwitz
Essentially it depends whether or not you care about Results.

mikeoli 1 year ago
@mikeoli
(OR a sociopathic admission that it would lead to an income distribution similar to a banana republic)
greyflcn 1 year ago
@schulwitz actually they were. Go back to 2008 and listen to the analysis. Progressives and Liberals don't all drink their own koolaid, if we did we'd be neo-cons or worse tea party followers. Actually, if you think that liberalism can never be wrong, then maybe you're experiencing the dissociative effects of believing one thing while the truth imparts another. BTW I get your sarcasm, but it only works if there's truth in the thing your mocking. Just saying.

SandCmpbll 1 year ago
@SandCmpbll
.
The fact that you grouped liberalism and progressivism together indicated to me that you didn't have any concept of the original "spirit of liberalism". To really understand the spirit of liberalism, you have to understand the history of the term and how the statists who called themselves liberals today hijacked the term, read F.A. Hayek on this matter.
schulwitz 1 year ago

Hillary Clinton admitted as much when she said of the term liberal: "You know, it is a word that originally meant that you were for freedom, that you were for the freedom to achieve, that you were willing to stand against big power and on behalf of the individual."

Hillary impressed me here, and this is why she labeled herself as a Progressive and not a liberal. She understands the difference, but most people don't.

It isn't.
ytgv3fc7 1 year ago
@ytgv3fc7 - It's government control of the means of production. It's a wonderful idea but pure fantasy. Capitalism is flawed, I agree, but socialism, when put into practice tends to lead to high taxes, low productivity and terrible services. Ask any Russian you know. No thanks. Socialism tends to come down heaviest on the middle class, not the wealthy class. It makes deals with and supports the super rich. Give me less government, not more.
fliegeroh 1 year ago
@fliegeroh no, it's not - socialism IS NOT government control of production. FASCISM is via corporations, socialism CAN use it but NEED NOT. Socialism is ACTUALLY the co-operation of social groups, sharing resources not for profit but for preparation for the future. It can be entirely decentralized, it can exist with no government at all and no taxes, and it can exist ENTIRELY VOLUNTARY. Socialism never comes down hard on the middle-class, it comes down hard on NO ONE. Russians never used full

Well that's easy enough
1. Monkton isn't a scientist. All he has is an undergraduate degree in journalism.

3. He puts out so many versions of his psuedo-science gibberish, you'd have to reference exactly which one you're talking. Since he makes up his own "facts" every time around.
4. The little iceage had to do with a long term decrease in solar activity. Something we don't have now.

Which it's pretty obvious is happening.

Also incidentally,
The paper you are referencing appeared in 2005
In 2006 they estimated that the rate of change was many orders of magnitude too small, to make an impact on thermohaline circulation anytime this century.

It should be transparency not secrecy...
bjarnet3 1 year ago
@bjarnet3 "People are responsible, not government" Sry, thats a dumb corporatist slogan. If there is no government, there is no law, if there is no law, noone is responsible before the law. Sure, ppl are still responsible then - before their banks and their employers - aka their owners, who are free to starve them into obedience, if it pleases the shareholders. That is exactly moral nihilsm..

GloBull Warming benefits the banksters, the elite and the well-connected. Even BP, one of the largest and greedy corporations, supports GloBull Warming.

lol not really -
So why the hell do the (truly) corporate controlled governments dont just act? (kyoto, copenhagen etc..)
Not climate science or environmentalists- You "truther" fools are the useful idiots who (quite unawarely) support the immoral and destructive corporate agenda/ and repeat their propaganda upside down spin. Its crystal clear and obvious.
aerobique 1 year ago 4
@aerobique

@aerobique
and the "evil" and in my opinion dangerous ("fascist" tendencies) guys there are mostly the right wingers and their blindly following naive "conservatives".

Can't you see is that all you have with a mixed economy is just one mob trying to bash another by getting special favours from the government and all you'll end up with is zero!
coltrane1966 1 year ago
@coltrane1966 aren't you the one spouting socialist nonsense? Aren't you the only one demanding any question of which person is the right one hitting any button? Looks like it from the comments. Central control IS NOT SOCIALIST. It is FASCIST and OPTIONAL in capitalism and in socialism. Decentralization is also very possible and costs less energy, hedges against more risks (capitalist or socialist). Free markets are fraud-markets, 1000000000% every time.
ytgv3fc7 1 year ago
@ytgv3fc7 So people freely trading goods and services is fraudulent is it? You don't even seem to know what Socialism, Fascism or Capitalism really is anyway, I suggest you do some studying. As for button pushing, that is just it, there is no Man, Messiah, or God that can possibly ever know what is right for all people at all times and know what prices should be.
coltrane1966 1 year ago
@coltrane1966 freely trading goods and services TENDS to be fraudulent, as the fraud is the most free, and most encouraged. Those who are not fraudulent have to pay more, work harder and get less revenue so it's a losing game, but some people try regardless. It's only in a market stripped of freedom, one designed to hunt fraud and stop it right away - by definition not a free market - that it's safe to be IN such a market.
ytgv3fc7 1 year ago
@coltrane1966 I seem to know what Fascism is more than you do, I LIVE IN SOCIALISM IN CANADA where we use it for health care and food banks and worker co-ops so I KNOW IT FOR A LIVING FACT and you do not. I have done more studying and learned more powerful patterns perhaps than your brain can ever comprehend. It's not about what prices should be: the exercise is itself a fraud. It's what QUALITY should be, what FRAUD should be stopped, AT ALL TIMES.
ytgv3fc7 1 year ago
@ytgv3fc7 Your reply makes me wonder how old you are and you make massive untrue assumptions as to my knowledge and experiences.
Setting the correct price is of massive importance, it is a way of conveying information that one council could never possess.
The USSR never even solved this problem, the best they could do was order magazines from the USA and copy the prices, but of course Russians aren't Americans and America isn't Russia so it saved them not.
.
coltrane1966 1 year ago
@coltrane1966 setting the correct price is the choice of every participant, so what's important is that there's no fraud in it. You don't just set a price and hope it's right - that is both careless and sometimes fraud. All you need is no fraud and people will settle on the price-ranges that quickly adapt to needs. It's the real needs and real costs, no fraud allowed, that allow proper transactions and quality.
Prices convey NO INFORMATION. NONE. It's a fraud they ever did.
ytgv3fc7 1 year ago
@coltrane1966 The USSR didn't fail to solve the problem, they failed to *have* the problem. They produced the right amount of supply for the right amount of people. Only one thing went wrong in the USSR: they had an expensive nuclear arsenal and diverted too much money away from the economy to keep it going. Now they don't. Now they're getting very rich as a nation and using oligarchy-capitalism to keep the little people down.
Prices have no ability to convey non-price data at any time.

@ytgv3fc7 You remind me of a cartoon where there was a picture of a big soviet freight train, it had lots of trucks but all were carrying just one giant big nail even though the people in reality needed small nails and so many houses had no roofs. Which actually happened, why?.
