  • Thanks you for your wonderful video.What is that thing you used to scrub the water pipe and what type of caulking do you used to fillup the space?

  • @Snowcatclaw hello;

    I used steel wool to clean the pipe, but sand cloth maybe required. I use clear mold resistant silicone for kitchen and bath.

    Thanks for commenting and enjoy your day!!! Al

  • my spout leaked and the landlord replaced only the spout... no silicone. I am not so sure he fixed the leak as it was a bad one. the floor under the tub now creaks loudy when you stand up.water also leaks UNDER my tub due to a damaged strainer(leaks around the outside of it) I want something fixed here.... have to do it myself.

  • @grettagrids Hey Jolene;

    He should have definitely put a little silicone there to prevent any water from getting in behind the tub. If not every time you get a shower; some water will run there and eventually be create mold and ruin your ceiling below.

    Sounds to me like the floor needs to be addressed.

    It is worth your while to pick up a small tube of tub and shower silicone and put a bead around the spout yourself.

    Thanks for commenting and enjoy the rest of the weekend!!! Al

  • Thank you for the video. We had leaking problem and even cut out the ceiling and wall and can't really locate the leak. Now, after watching this video, it does shed some lights here for us.

  • @shencheung Hello there;

    This is a very common problem and can be very easy to fix. A tube of silicone and a caulking gun and you are all set to go. When purchasing silicone make sure you use kitchen and bath as it resists mold better then all purpose.

  • @svavargarri Hello there. Sorry for the late response. Grabbbed short vacation and came back well rested.Thanks for your comments; they are greatly appreciated. I am trying to spread a little of my past experiences that I have encountered. Hopefully everyone will find one on this channel that will help them out. Have yourself a great day!!! Al

  • Good video! I've been to all kinds of old, rundown houses and a typical sight is rotted board under the spout.

  • @VintageToiletsRock Hello there; This is a very common problem and can be prevented with a little silicone caulking. I have seen many walls behind tubs become soft and full of mold. So a little preventative work for a few seconds goes a long way. Thanks for your comments and have yourself a great weekend!!! Al
