@XthatlildudeX Thanks for the comment. The actually beats aren't futuristic by any means! DnB has been around since the late 80's and it really hasn't changed much since the late 90's. The new high quality samples used today to compliment the timeless grooves are definitely what makes this the best time for DnB I think. Check out Bachelors of Science's original of this arrangement!
Thats true. Im just curious because my schools indoor has always had an electronics subsection, with synth, guitar, and bass. I like the sound it adds to the ensemble
I'm a big fan of BoS. Seeing this as a video response brought me here. I absolutely love it. It's a wonderful song and both versions bring it out in their own way. Very smooth. The flow of the song can only be compared to ocean waves. Thanks for posting this.
i'll be honest, the bass drum part in the very beginning sounds a bit iffy to me but dude the groove and the base beat is one of the sickest things i've ever heard and it becomes more awesome when i can feel the vibration in my stomach from my sub lol. the bell part melody is really cool man dude i bet my school would go crazy if we played any of your pieces at an assembly XD
You would be one of the best people in the world if you told me the main bell set harmony. At least just the first notes and how many steps up it goes, so i could just figure it out from there. I have way too bad of an ear to do that myself D:
The intervals in order of appearance are: C#/E, D#/F#, E/G#, G#/B, and C#/E. It doesn't exactly follow the diatonic scale, which is why it sounds the way it does. But trust me, that's what it is.
man, this is gonna bug me now. there has to be some percussion instrument that has the range and sustain of bass guitar. the closest ive ever heard is hitting the low notes on a marimba with bass steel drum foam head mallets. not a very common sound.
@dreamtheaterepicwin that might work, although i think glass xylophone makers avoid low notes because they can get really obscured by overtones. i might be wrong on that, though. maybe in a few years glass percussion will be developed enough for this kinda stuff.
no offense intended bro... i luv what youve done... but im just someone who likes overpowering quads because theyre usually complementary instead of the main focus... since the quads are only adding color, they couldnt necessarily be used as QUADs... more like "doubles" or somn lol... but im just rambling my opinions bro... i intend no harm :D
Alright, well you said "i would have gotten bored doing visuals the entire time", so I assumed you aren't hearing most of where the quads are. Although realistically quieter than the snares, they are there. I understand what you mean about quads being their own voice and not just doubling the snares. That's why I always love SCV's books, their arrangers all seem quad-crazy. For this DnB arrangement though (which will likely never be performed) the doubling worked perfectly.
once again you've shown you amazing musical art to our hearts. i love every piece you've written. i hope my school clear falls(league city) will play at least one of them before i graduate.
If you use your ears, you'll hear that the quads are adding color the snares almost the entire time. So, if you say the quads are weak, then you're saying the snares are weak. My goal wasn't add any flair to the piece, but to make it sound as close to the original as possible. I'd say I did a pretty good job of making the snares/quads mimic the DnB groove in the original. Thanks though.
Thanks Joel, I thought you'd appreciate this. I finally began using live velocities starting with this piece and the tap/accent contrast definitely sounds better! And that small part is in the original, you should search for it on Youtube and listen when you get a chance.
@reeldeelpeel Yeah right after I listened to this I went and checked out the actual song and heard that little bit in there; it totally lends itself to being played by the tenors. Great job, again. :)
this is really really really awesome!!! however, i dont know if people would actually like to play this. drum set grooves arent very fun for the batterie members... but maybe that's just me. still love it!!
I'm glad you think so, thanks! Drumset grooves are fun to play in a drumline as long as they're well written. You're probably thinking of pep band tunes where the drumline is poorly written, or written by someone with little or no drumline experience.
i wish i could compose like you im turning 17 and still cant write or transcribe like this but amazing Work and Best of Luck in your Future you will do Great.
I love how the music goes perfectly with the video....the futuristic beats are really great:D

why is it so bad to have a bass guitar?
username14991 5 months ago
@username14991,
Eh, just because it's more of a fretted string instrument than typical percussion instrument. And it's electric, and not acoustic.

Great stuff, but I think the sound of the drums (samples you've used.) sounds abit bad.
But the drum patterns and the bells and everything is great man!

Can I first just ask why you want to transcribe only the bell part so badly? lol

@reeldeelpeel lol its just in case i get bored by a bell set and/or piano. I really like having some random thing to play if my ADD spikes up
