Beautiful song, montage, and movie. I enjoyed this and will always remember the movie and The Rose. Janis is one of my favorite singers and Bette played the part amzingly!
Love the song and loved the movie saddened by the loss of such a beautiful young soul but Thank GOD he shed his precious blood for all mankind not just some of us but for all of us. Did you ever know or think about people like this the prisons they live in and how they wish they could escape from who ? US. not the United States US the fans who take over thier lives. Hugs Bobbie great video.
When we finally know that we don't have to live so fast that we don't consider our limitations we are old enough to know the truth about the voices that deceived us into believing that.
@katvictoria2000 - Saddest moment of the whole picture. Her performance is so real to me, I have a hard time watching it. Can only do it once every six years or so, and usually only with someone who hasn't seen it. So many emotions on that screen...all of them so palpable, at times it feels as though Rose's heart is beating in your own chest. Fabulous.
@KarenRoese really?? so all the other tubees that uploaded their material were just lucky? l find that a little hard to believe (and l'm not, in any way, claiming you're making this up). besides, didn't they at least give you a selection of tunes to choose from? not that l'm against 'reli-rock/pop' but (no offense) as a musical background for this trailer it's a little like hearing nirvana in a david attenborough nature-doc...
THE most powerful piece of music in a film studded with powerful music...brings tears to my eyes every single time (good and sad); Have grown up with this soundtrack and Janis as mentor- never fails as a 'warm-up' to going out for a gig (Zzhh!.. Zzhh!.. Zzhh!...) or on the town. By deepest thanks for posting this!!!
This was Bette Midler's first movie and she was nominated for an academy award for best actress. She deserved it. She earned it, but she didn't win. She was cheated out of the oscar. I don't remember who won that year. Does anyone know?
I was fortunate enough to be at the filming of the first concert footage. The next time you watch it, look for the white guy with the afro smelling a rose just before Rose sings, "When a man Loves a woman." THAT'S ME!!!

Dissapointed...aww I that these were going to be clips of where we could hear her singing the songs from the movie. Those clips are hard to find....

I just watched this movie yet again on a late movie -- even though I've got the VHS tape and a DVD of this classic film.
This powerful instrumental piece still has the power to bring tears to my eyes.
