  • that horse was to fat for this. lololol

  • She was doing really well before her horse slipped

  • I feel the horse wasn't in condition enough to meet the request of the rider. They should have chosen to enter a lower-level class (walk-trot), or worked at the horses ability/conditioning before entering the horse to compete at that level. I feel a horse in better shape tends to fall and stumble less (and get hurt less). Props to the girl for letting her horse know "you are okay, I am okay, we are going to be okay" (get a helmet!)

  • good job,but i would insider buying her a helmet so shell be safe

  • This is where wearing a helmet comes in handy. That horse could have easily kept rolling and just went right on top of her. And western saddles are a lot more hurtful because of the horn.

  • y not put on a helmet

  • thats what she gets for not wearing a helmet. :/

  • western riders typically do not have to wear helmates....

and That little girl deserves a hand!:)

  • Holy Cow. Whether or not u wear a helmet is up to you or your parents. nobody elses... last time i checked we have a right to an opinion and some people believe helmets are right and some don't. o well. it none of our jobs to tell this woman that she is terrible JUST because her child didnt have a helmet on. BTW that was a nice run!!!! great job on getting right back on!!! :D

  • @canchaser996 yup youre right. everybody has the right to decide whether or not this fall will be the one that is fatal, or making them brain damaged. its is such a little thing that can save a life and you shouldnt be supporting people who dont wear helmets. it doesnt restrict anything. the one and only thing it does is protect the most vital part of your body. everybody who rides knows unpredictable it can be and everybody should know the reason that they created helmets. the mom should know.

  • Good job Girlie! Ur not the only one! I flew off into a jump because I was riding English but I ride western now! I get back on every time but my old instructor got back on with a broken leg not knowing it was broken

  • Tough kid! That was amazing! *BTW I barrel race without a helmet all the time, and every time i fall and hit my head, its on soft dirt. So all you stupid jumpers and english riders thinking your bad ass for criticizing a person on something that happened over three years a go..... well.... STFU:)

  • @MadisunKrugersMusic Well, when we fall we have the chance of slamming our heads into standards and poles . . . . that hurts alot more then the dirt. And what is wrong with englisg riding!? It is alot harder to stay in an english saddle then a western one and while jumping 5 foot fences!!! sorry if we think it would be safer for a child to wear head protection.

  • Why the hell isn't she wearing a helmet?

  • Why isn't she wearing a helmet??? That should be mandatory for people 18 years or younger in barrel shows...

  • The first time I cantered I fell off and got a concussion. That's what I was told, anyway... I blacked out for about 13 hours and don't remember anything about the whole day. Thank God I was wearing a helmet or I would've been most likely dead or brain dead from the impact. Helmets aren't some decoration, it's headgear that every rider should wear, especially little kids, no matter how bombproof the pony is. I really don't like western because they leave the helmet optional in most cases.

  • Awww poor girl THats fast for a 9 year old

  • yeah and watch her fall again!

  • its great that she got back on...i had a fall recently where the saddle slipped and and i got back on bareback...nice video...:)

  • It's fantastic that your daughter is riding so well at such a young age! I don't quite understand, though, why you would let your own child ride without a helmet - no matter how great of a horse she's riding. Hopefully this fall made you realize that accidents do happen. I would hate for such a promising young rider to end up seriously injured, or worse, because of her parent's indiscretion.

  • isn,t this sad put on a helmet or a hat SHE COULD OF GOT SERIOUSLY HURT AND IS ANYONE GOING TO HELP HER IF U FALL OFF A HORSE AT A SHOW YOUR PARENTS SHOULD GO IN THE RING AND SEE IF U ARE OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • WHERE IS HER HELMET?!

  • honestly a helmat should be worn but in this case if she was wearing a helmet she still would have slammed her face on the ground no matter what and the brim of the helmet could have injured here neck the way she hit the ground, so maybe it was a good thing in this one case that she was not wearing a helmet. Perhaps someone upstairs was looking out for her by letting her take this fall on such an amazing horse that tried it best to not fall on this little girl. Amazing and trustworthy horse!

  • Her parents choose whether or not that girl wears a helmet, not youtube users. I agree that she should have one on at all times while on the back of a horse, but that is not for us to bicker about!

  • thats why people should wear helmets....expecially younger riders

  • Ugh... I can't stop watching how hard she hit her head... I wish she had a helmet on... :(

  • And Wait a second.. Why wasn't she wearing a helmet!?

  • Aww did anyone notice how hard she slammed her face? Poor baby, glad she was okay!

  • What a little HORSEGIRL! Amazing, and that horse is worth its weight in gold!

  • But the horse waited for her and the girl got back on. Well done!

  • I clapped when the said ya'll give that cowgirl a hand! She's a great rider and she handled the situation well:-)

  • Shut the gate! Idk why but I crack up when I heard him!

  • sign of a good horse= stands there when you fall off and doesnt run around<3

  • No helmet? Smart mom!

  • XD .... poor horse

  • This pretty much exactly happened to me a few months back, I had just turned 12. I got straight back up and did the barrel race again, even with a badly bruised leg came 2nd equal. Not bad and it gave me confidence, rather than being scared of barrell racing. (btw i ride english)

  • i LOVE this pony... so adorable!! and a bit chubby, lol. good pair :)

  • Apparently not enough people get the helmet issue. Go to an ER some time. There's nothing cool about being a drooling idiot because your mom decided you were such a great rider you didn't need a helmet. NOBODY is immune from gravity.

  • Would everyone shut up about the helmet issue. It is the mothers choice, NOT yours! I am sure she knows the dangers of not wearing helmets. One comment about a helmet is enough, everyone gets it.

  • @brbug1 I agree, but i'd expect some critism, and she did hit her head i saw so i'd see why people would be a little worried.Little kids heads are very fragile.I bet that hurt, but thats how you learn. From falling. haha

  • I understand that the US and western riding belong to a different culture in riding and handling horses - but seriously, could you at least let the young ones have a helmet??! If that were my daughter there would be no way in hell I'd let her up on a horse without a helmet. It's irresponsible!

Other than that, wonderful horse and talented girl =)

  • Great rider! Such a scary fall, and I'm glad she was okay! A very faithful horse for staying there next to her. Good job!

  • That little girl is what...8? Where is her helmet...

  • Uhm.... She's kinda... Violent. (I don't know english so well, im swedish but i mean she's kinda aggro..)

  • Wow. She's a grat rider!

  • wow! i would be scared if i were her!

  • Slow motion FACE PLANT!

  • really WHERE IS HER HELMET THATS SO DANGEROUS UR RISKING HER LIFE WITHOUT IT

  • where is that girls helmet?!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ya when ever i fall off my horse just stands and stairs at me lying on the ground

  • thats an amazing vidoeif i smacked my face on the ground like that i'd be in some serious pain but would try and get back on espically during a show.she probably felt embarressed too.amazing rider great horse.

  • what a fantasitc little rider. I know how she feels, I have the same bond with my boy...you know soemone is meant to be around horses when you have a fall like that and all you care about is if your horse is ok or not.

  • amzing skills i couldn't do that

  • Cowgirls don't cry!!!!!!!

  • whare is her helmet!!! even though it is western, she should still be wearing one!

  • well the horse looked uncomfortable...

  • Barrel-racing is also such a dangerous horse sport. I wish they made the riders wear helmets, especially when it's a little kid. Fair enough if it's an adult and they don't want to wear it, but a little kid should always wear a helmet. Their skull is still so small and fragile, they could get hurt so badly or unfortuantely even die from head truama.

but lets hope that never happens.

I'm glad the horse and girl were fine! and it's amazing that she got back on :D x

  • That girl is a fighter... shes very brave

  • good job on getting right back on really tough rider

  • I am very glad she and her horse are ok but she should have a helmet on! It appears she hit her the front of her head, she could have been seriously injured. I hope she wears one now and I am very glad to see she got back on.

  • @awsomevideo100 Oops mean she hit the front of her head

  • That's a great little cowgirl You've got there and a very good horse to just stand there!

  • That happened to me but I burst into tears. But not because I was hurt but beacause I hurt my horse. I spent three weeks out of school taking care of Hunter.

  • @DaHoss yes you are right. It is your choice whether to wear a helmet or not and she obviously has decided not to wear one

  • good girl got right back on...talk about a cowgirl!

  • Wheres her freaken helmet?!I know thats none of my business, but it is if a little girls saftey is in jepordey! Thats horrible!

  • SHE WASNT WEARING A HELMET SHE COULD OF DIED

  • @345horselover

    O please, get over it!

  • The check even if the horse is injured!! Fucking peoples..!

  • That is a good horse :) after she fell she never ran, just stayed put until the girl got back on her feet. Most videos iv seen the horses get spooked and run off

  • hehe ale zwała !!!!!

    XD

  • i can tell by the horses stride that the horse is not meant for speed... she is not sturdy enough...

  • omg enough about the helment issue. Ive been riding since i was 3 im now 28 and the worst injury i got was a broken femur. More people are hurt crossing the road than there is in in horse riding pluss helments dont fit under our cowboy hats.

  • @orafferty83 It only takes one bad fall to crack your skull. Only one. Just because it hasn't happened to you yet doesn't mean it never will. Being able to wear your cowboy hat is not worth your life.

  • @Syncraftable ok why dont you tell kids who crosses the road to wear a helment do you know how more kids die each year crossing the road and being hit by a car. more kids are hurt playing on a jungle gym than there are kids getting hurt on a horse.

  • @orafferty83 Ooorrr we could just have parents actually be responsible and not allow their kid to cross the road by themselves until they are fully capable of judging when it is and is not a good time to cross on their own. How about that? A lot more kids are hurt on jungle gyms because a lot more kids actually play on jungle gyms than they ride horses, and many kids that ride horses DO wear helmets. Many sports require helmets or padding of some kind to cut back the risks to the participants.

  • @orafferty83 Why, then, is it only a requirement in SOME equestrian disciplines to wear a helmet (and only required in the show ring, not while schooling at home)?

  • @Syncraftable ok to make you happy why dont we just all wrap our children bubble wrap.

  • @orafferty83 That's a little dramatic, don't you think? There are absolutely zero legitimate downsides to simple safety precautions like helmets.. None. There is no reason to take unnecessary risks with kids. Adults need to start being responsible with their kids and the kids they teach and mentor. It's not that hard.

  • @orafferty83 pahaha, much love for that comment xD

  • @orafferty83 Just because it's never happened doesn't mean it won't happen. They even make helmets that look like cowboy hats these days. You have no reason NOT to wear one. Google "11 reasons not to wear a riding helmet" and read the first link. It talks about things most people don't think about. If you were to fall and become handicapped, who would care for you for the rest of your life? Who would pay for it? Ever think about that? It's not just your life that's at stake.

  • The horse is WAAAY to fat. Honestly

  • Yeah where is her fucking helmet? I know it's speed but still.

  • Us cowgirls don't need helmets... Solid as rocks!

  • @chestnutchick1 Plenty of people, english or western, are seriously injured and killed because of the stupid descision not to wear a helmet. If you think that you're "solid as a rock" then obviously a helmet won't be protecting much.

  • @chestnutchick1 even rocks can break

  • PUT A HELMET ON HER!!!

  • Wish I got back up when I got bucked off doing kegs...But NO! I had to get unconsious xD

  • She really cares about the horse she was riding :)

  • Great horse!!! Give that horse a peppermint!!!

  • A helmet could come in handy... Please you Americans, I love you, please don't die! :') xx

  • BARN GIRLS GET IT DONE WHOOOOHOOO!!!!!!!!!

  • Same as previous post... Where's the helmet?

  • Wheres the helmet?

  • WOOOOOOOT!!! That girl already has some serious skills!! Amazing. She is going to be the next star in barrel racing. And such a wonderful pony. Trusts her completely. A great team!! :-D

  • Haha I do the samething- MOM I HURT MY HORSE.

  • wow that girl is tough. GO WESTERN!

  • 'Western riding isn't really about helmets?' don't you value your head? doesn't matter what discipline one is in.. think about the dressage rider last year that wasn't riding in one (wasn't needed) - her horse reared up, she fell and now she's paralysed...I know in Canada there are helmets for riding western now...you only have one head, protect it.. horses are horses.. they all have moments, whether they are regular trail horses, barrel horses or show jumpers.. they are STILL 1,200lb animals.

  • No helmet???

  • @hannahjoelydia First thing I thought. With kids that young, even with a friendly horse like this, you never know what can happen. As could be seen on the video. What I also don't understand is why they don't do something about that wet spot.

  • @hannahjoelydia- western isnt really about helmets

  • Poor horse

  • chunky horse ^-^

  • @jessicalove2246 i did

  • horse riding... dangerous?! whaa?

  • @TheKingofthebox Any idea how many people get wounded every year?

  • aw, wonderful horse. Your daughter is really brave to get right back on. But I think Blondie is a bit on the chubby side lol! ;-)

  • Poor girl but she needs to work on her skills.

  • @bendyprissy work on her skills? shes 9! the horse triped, she said the arena was a little wet there, i think you need to work on your "skills" cause obviously you dont know shit.

  • was the girl hurt or her horse was hurt whats wrong im glad she got right back up

  • @justinbieberjelena read the description!

  • may just be me but that horses looks a bit overweight.

  • What a sweet horse. I'm sorry the girl cried, but I'm glad she cares so much about her horse.

  • you cant wear a helmet in a barrel raceing show! she did great simple accedent

  • I do wish people would shut up. It loks like a record broke in here with all the "Its horrible" and of course let's not forget "HELMET"

In all seriousness, I think they got it the first time, It's okay, you can ignore the brave little girl. Make her feel horrible if you'd like, I bet half of you can't ride as good as her or have the courage to get right back on. Now she's a REAL cowgirl. More than I can say for half the viewers.

  • @Weaponsmaster8595 She won't be a "real" cowgirl if she becomes paralyzed and can't ride anymore. This is why so many people are upset. No one is trying to make her feel badly. They're trying to protect her.. Google "11 reasons not to wear a riding helmet" and read the first entry. It talks about things most people don't even think about.

  • You just get back on??? They didnt even check the horse!?

  • what an honest horse to stand by her side after she fell. she's a keeper. And what a good little rider for checking her horse, then getting right back up! props cowgirl :)

  • OK people they did look at the horse its a good kids horse. Good job little girl. You will be one hell of a rider one day

  • But way to go little girl check the horse. And get back on

  • I have falling an got right back up helmet are like seat belts some time they don't help so why wear them been riding my whole life started. A 6 year with no training never ever had one

  • @Megs1785 It doesn't matter if they aren't always needed, it's the fact that it's always safer when you do have one. I'd probably have gotten a really bad concussion the other day without mine.

  • @Megs1785 "helmet are like seat belts some time they don't help so why wear them"

Do you know anyone who's been in a car accident without a seat belt? I do and she nearly died. The other two people in the car were wearing seat belts and got away with minor cuts. A riding helmet is the same way. It won't always help you but it could. That small chance is worth it. And what if you become handicapped? Who's going to take care of you for the rest of your life? Ever think about that?

  • Ummm no helment.....

  • Good job getting right back up;) you should wear a helmet though

  • stupid y would ya let a wee girl barrel race

  • oh bless that horse, it tried so hard to get back up and not let her fall <3

  • And this boys and girls is why I will NOT let children anywhere near my horses with out a HELMET. Accidents happen this lil girl was lucky this time.

  • that girl needs a helmet what would have happened if she hit her head on the barrel u might not have a daughter any more get her a helmet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • I am glad to hear that she was more concerned about her horse than herself.

  • how bout them cowgirls :)))) And yes helmets are always nice, but ive ridden without one for six years and it only made me tougher :))) however, im now forced to wear one as i am under eighteen, and board my horse at a stable. any way thumbs up for that little cowgirl gettin back up on that little ponyy :)))

  • @GoneCountry96 scratch that whole little pony thing haha thats a full grown horse!!! hahaha

  • @GoneCountry96 You may *feel* tougher but you definitely are NOT unbreakable. When you turn 18 you should continue to wear a helmet every time you ride. The one ride you don't wear a helmet for could end up being the one that ends your life or leaves you permanently damaged. Would you be able to tell a relative "I don't wear a riding helmet and if I get injured and need 24-hour care for the rest of my life, you're going to do it"?

  • WHY don't she wear a helmet ? She could so easily have been killed! My helmet has saved me several times. I know you are doing perfect most of the time, but i don't think you planned for her to fall off either and it could have gone absolutely wrong! sweet horse, sweet, brave girl, but think a little bit about her safety so you wont loose her!

  • @CroneCoffee lol same my helmet saved my life in one case!

  • yep, just keep riding the poor horse when it's OBVIOUSLY INJURED!

  • @Andrea9514 ummm? Thats alittle negitive! And obviously if the horse what injured wouldnt it be limping? Think before you post.....

  • way to go katie. takes a lot of courage to get back on!

  • you go, Katie! good job. I've had a horse fall on me too, and it's not fun. but i got right back on! good job!

  • aww i read the description area and i would of cried to not because i was hurt but beacuse my horse could be hurt i love animals and when i read that i knew we are just alike lol!!!

  • WHAT THE HELL IS SHE DOING WITHOUT A HELMET??!!.......

  • What the hell is everyone's deal with helmets? Honestly, if she doesn't want to wear a helmet it's her own damn choice. Get the hell over yourselves.

  • @SexMeIero The person who makes the conscious choice not to wear a helmet is telling their relatives and loved ones "I am choosing to risk my life unnecessarily and if I lose my gamble with fate, it will be you who has to suffer, either by grieving my death or giving me 24-hour care for the rest of my life."

  • @genevievedee I think you need to chill... We all get the helmet issue, yes, it's stupid for anyone not to wear a helmet, or seatbelt. I always wear a helmet when I ride.

  • I love that horse ;) Just sayin :)

  • what bout the horses leg ??????? just hop back on and give her applause ?????

  • ya'll you have no room to go nitpicking every one. Shes okay she got back on end of story

  • Wear a helmet, god damn it

  • is i just me or she is a little bouncyish... and where the eff is her helmet!!??

  • how cute she gets back on! That horse has a huge tummy!

  • The horse did stay right by her, usually they jump up and run because of the shock.. I think he was worried about her as much as she was worried about him...

  • Helments are over rated.

  • Little girl-Helmets are good for crashes like that, even in competitions/shows

Horse-Looks kinda old and shouldnt run like that if old(I said if)

  • ouch! all i saw was her face hitting the ground

  • haha i luhv how everyone is like (GASP) OMG!! HAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!

  • WTF? They didn't even check to see if the horse was okay!!

  • @Cottontail6969 yes they did dumbass, did you not see the girl adn then the woman checking the horse's leg before she got back on?

  • @SuwanneeDixieChicks No, I didn't. I saw the woman bend over to talk to the girl, but I never saw anyone walk or trot the horse first.

  • i like how the girl cried for her horse and not her, she is very kind and generous.

  • DID THE HORN HIT HER?

  • Great horse, and great future rider! I love seeing kids getting back in the saddle. When I was her age, I rode english at that point, we were trail riding, my horse got hungry and went to grab a mouthful of Grass, I clung to the reins and ended up on my head! I had a helmet on and wasn't hurt, and I jump right back on and rode the rest of the trail with everyone. My riding teacher was very proud.

  • @beyondhopehorses - What an uneducated statement... in every contesting show I've EVER watched, helmets have been allowed. This is based on the stopwatch, not aesthetics. I agree, the kid handled it well but shame shame SHAME on the trainer/parents/whoeverthehell let her go out there without head protection. I don't understand.

  • Helmets I think are debatable in my opinion, but isn't it generally a law to have one on until you're 18?

  • horse looks to be too fat?

  • ppl commenting about no helmet - its not always allowed in a western show ring!!! and congrats pls pass on to your daughter she was fantastic she was very calm and handled that perfectly. :) such a brave kid :)

  • ouch.... leg..

  • Such an honest horse. I love his little canter though! As far as the helmet issue goes, i don't wear a helmet all the time. If i'm jumping or out on the trails i ALWAYS wear a helmet, but if i'm just flatting or playing round in the field, i don't always wear one.

  • I really hope they cleaned out that horses nose and made sure that everything was all good...and yes a helmet is a good idea for a little girl that is riding a large animal..just imagine if he horse had kicked her...anyways!! This girl is a great rider!! Great job hunny! :D

  • I agree the little girl should have a helmet but stop nagging about it! Its nobodys business if she has a helmet on or not! If you wear a helmet thats your choice but dont say anything about it on other peoples videos! Im not saying helmets are a bas thing its just annoying abouthow mmuch nagging happens on videos of helmets. Good Job Little Girl Your A Awsome Rider!(:

  • first if ur really a cowgirl u dont need a helmet and if ur need a helmet ur a sissy
