an AMAZING number. the last part of the scene -- where he pushes the cart, she jumps on it, and he begins to twirl her around the hall -- wow! i can't imagine the rehearsal that must have gone it to that.

I *think* this was an MGM film. Even though musicals were on their way "out" in the 1950's, MGM continued to put out a class acts like this. I'm thinking also of "Band Wagon" and "It's Always Fair Weather."
Was the "Tall, slender blond" remark a reference to Ginger Rogers? Or was that just supposed to be taken as a woman in Jervis' past? If it was about Ginger, then I guess I didn't laugh for no reason.
This is one of my favorite scenes. Fred sings "Something Gotta Give" and then dances with Leslie Caron The reason the scene is distored, is because this movie was filmed in widescreen .
Watched this movie with my sisters when I was 8, we got in trouble for sitting thru it twice, and not letting anyone know , and were late getting home. Loved it then and now.
I love after their night out is over they continue to dance in the hotel corridor!! And when the obvious moment comes for them to kiss, they don't. Such is the difference from a 1955 film. Beautiful.
This is one of my favorite Astaire movies. How wonderful of someone to put the entire film on youtube. Thanks. Here's hoping that many who are new to the film watch it here
@pdcushing: Try looking on youtube for Cheryl and Gilles dancing the paso doble on Dancing With The Stars. That dress she is wearing is just stunning. (Gilles, too!)
This is when the word 'professional' and 'talent' meant something - not X factor !

Fred Astaire was the ultimate gentleman <3 In this film I think Leslie Caron is not playing really well....she's very cold

@pdcushing actually, they're bringing that style back. A lot of designers are remaking these kids of dresses.
