But the tin cans are cheap and easy to replace. If you look at my "Woodgas Simple Version1.2" the inner can, the burn chamber, is very easy to replace because it isn't rivited or cemented in place. The burn chamber is the part that should be really effected by the fire and when it is burned out it can be popped out and replaced with another can. The burn chamber could also be painted with heat-resistant paint to help it last longer.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying your stove pipe idea is bad
I meant it for cooking or heating water but that is an interesting thought. I wonder how hot this could get. Probably would depend on the fuel used. Hmmm
I think the reason you are burning the inner can on the old version is because the can isnt able to handle the excess heat. Je engines used to have the same trouble and when teh avro aero used bypass air to cool the combustion chamber they stopped burning the combustion chambers out. A simmilar idea might work on the old stove. Burn the inner can but pass some air between outer and inner can. Small holes for fast air should work.
Not sure about these wood burning stoves. To much work. Find wood break it up. What if it rains. Im going to stay with alcohol burners. Nice stove though.
actully I made 2 wood stoves without the motor one is like this one the other is a single juice can I use a coat hanger to make an inner pot stand i use to boil water its works great sure theres a feed factor and rain rule ;break off dead sticks from trees not off ground there is plenty of twiges around to keep them going all night
Still to much work for me. I made one took it out for a week hike after I played with it for a week before. Thought It would do ok then it rained while I was on the trail. I could not get a fire going in it for nothing. feeding the stove was a pain in the ass also. I think I will stick with the alcohol stoves.
Hi again Hiram Thank you again 4 another helpfull vid!
Im liking the way you got your fan setup looks great, I found the tip about the deoderizor fan the best, I woz using a pc fan like the 1's u have & like u say they need more power, the deoderisor looks 2 b more eficient!!!
Those pellets will burn hot i have done it in my serra stove.I got all most this round up for my wood stove i got on of then milk shake cans let you do it first then me he. he.Oh i got a 3 way switch so i can run 4 batteres or 2
I have a switch like that in the solar battery I'm working on for these stoves. Isn't it pretty cool how the same idea gets around to us all. That's one reason why I share all my vids even if they are failures, so we don't all waste time on the same bad idea.
Great idea Hiram! I like the idea of a inserted burn chamber. This idea I had started out with a stove I could break down and fit inside of it self. I looked at few videos on youtube and tried to recreate the Sierra Zip stove. By double lining the walls of the burn chamber with another can I found it could withstand a lot more heat. No more warping or melting. Also the cans pink salmon come in are a lot more durable for burn chambers, it is what I am using on my next forge. Great Video!
I agree, making mention of others who gave someone the inspiration to make what they have gives credit where credit is due and also promotes the videos of those who gave the inspiration.
What did you crimp the pieces of can with?

Looks like a fine, solid design.

I was thinking of long term use where a person might not have access to replacement cans.

I can say that i managed to get about 25 uses out of my larger 1kg coffee cans gasifier. Before the burn chamber was no longer viable.
I then found a much thicker metal tank to replace the burn chamber and it's over 70 uses now.
The best would be a 1/8 thick cast iron burn chamber . Stainless steel does not last much longer than tin cans, and unless burn ch

-chamber (aluminum) is 1/4" thick you can forget it. It will warp or melt.
@hiramcook. You can get a small cast iron frying pan and drill holes in it. , That or those cast iron egg cooking you see used at Mc Donalds.
It's not all that heavy, and easy to make.

seems to me the tin cans are not sturdy enough for extended use. Maybe consider using regular stove pipe.

Ah yes one more thing, Drak is pronounced as if it has a long A . LOL Like Drake. Everyone does it. Thanks for the mention in the video!

I'm sorry about that. I had a 50/50 chance there and I picked the wrong way. :-( I promise I'll say it right next time.
I see people have been mentioning me in their vids. Feels cool. More people should mention where they see ideas.
