Everyone started making AMD the underdog.....looks like they can shut the fuck about Intel now and apologize to the all might master of processing. >:D
@W4hrH31t Sorry that you couldn't come up with any kind of reply kid. Outclassed and outdone. Alienware laptops and Razer switchblades are not netbooks. Yes, Netbooks are really the only thing to compare this netbook GPU against. Its a netbook GPU. Compareing Netbook GPUs against high end gaming pcs doesn't make sense. Do you compare the Nintendo 3DS against high end gaming pcs? Cellphone gaming against high end-gaming PCs? So why would you compare netbooks against high end gaming PCs?
@Klimessss lol i agree, intel has been doing this for a while. GMA is in no way able to play any games. i we have to cool or cpu's and gpu's seprate if it has any performance in the onboard a single square inch of surface area wont be able to cool it.
@Klimessss Exactly. Traditional integrated graphics are NOT for gaming! This one is. It's based of the ATI Radeon HD 6000 series and supports DirectX 11. If you watch the performance of the card, in this tech demo from ATI, you can see it can play some games: ?v=mdPi4GPEI74
Specifically, its able to smoothly render the FF14 benchmark which is a good sign. It also has the other features like UMV HD video enhancements. Low power usage. Up to 8 core
@Burchnall87 I think your response got cut off, there. It ends with 'Up to 8 core' ...
Anyway, I will agree that this thing has far better single-chip performance than solutions offered by competitors of the traditional integrated nature and even Sandy Bridge. AMD has consistently had remarkable performance with even their M/B Integrated solutions, so I wouldn't be surprised if this performed respectably.
Of course, nothing will beat a proper discreet GPU.
@paladinstorm I think the most interesting part is the chip is so small, it fits into betbooks. Discreete graphics can never fit into a netbook form factor. So potentially, we can see PC-gaming in a 7-10" form factor with relatively low power usage. This is pretty impressive considering previously, the only gaming that small was a Nintendo DS and PC graphics from the APU seem comparable/better than home consoles let alone portable devices.
@paladinstorm So that makes for an interesting time in PC gaming. Portable PC gaming on the go with low power usage would really be something else. If you stop and consider that netbook with an APU unlike a Nintendo 3DS would also be able to surf the web(facebook, twitter, last.fm, youtube, etc), use work productivity software(office, adobe photoshop, etc) and have a fully functional os with a huge game library(tons of pc games have been made to date). It seems the netbook is the best option.
@eatbetter Sigh, please learn to read the sources given before incorrectly comment, mmk? My source listed was from ATI themselves. In the ATI video you can hear ATI say up to 8 cores on Llano APU. APU + 8 cores in the same sentance plus a chart showing up to 8 cores visually being shown to you. Nevermind, you know what. I'm sure you right and ATI is wrong. I bet you know ATI products etter than ATI themselves.
The person in this video is from Best Buy, a geek squad member, she is not from AMD.
But hey, let's trust the infamous geek squad, let's ignore everything saying the max CPU cores on Llano is 4 on every single whitesheet. I'm sure it is thoerically possible to have 8 cores, but there is no planned 8 core APU at this time.
@eatbetter Learn to read. If you had read my whole comment before replying, you'd notice there's a link in it to youtube video. A youtube video made by ATI. Called ATI Llano demonstration that an AMD Product Manager states up to 8 cores while there's a chart showing up to 8 cores. Learn to read. Read first, speak after. I never said this video had information from ATI. Of course she's a best buy employee, she's wearing a best-buy shirt. I said my original source linked my video was ATI.
@eatbetter BTW APU Lllano has been confirmed to be 8 cores and Bulldozer 16 cores. AMD's server chips already have 16 core chips out there. watch?v=4v07kzah91A This video shows an AMD Engineer upgrading an Operton 6100 to a 16-core cpu.
@Burchnall87 Rofl...that video is comparing AMD ATI, APU vs Intel GMA, everyone knows that GMA Sucks Intel have always failed at doing graphics stuff.
But AMD got ATI so they will always have more success.
But you can't say this is for gaming....Because no gamer would use GMA...
If you want to kickass all consoles and play full AA, Tessellation, Anisotropic,3D you will need a good Intel and a traditional GPU this is not for High End, buts its a lot cheaper.
@W4hrH31t You can't say this is for gaming? What are you talking about? It runs one of the most graphically intense mmorpgs out there to date, FFXIV. Did you watch the video and see the gameplay videos? If it can smoothly render FFXIV, it can render also render other big-name games like COD4, COD: BO, Modern warfare 2, etc.
If being able to play those games doesn't count as gaming, then what's your definition of gaming? Grabbing out the old dice and laying down the snakes and ladders?
@Burchnall87 Let's talk about facts, you were comparing a CPU vs a CPU+GPU(APU) who will win at Graphics? Ofc APU, but at Proccesing everyone knows who is the winner.
So we have the best CPU and if you add a "Traditional" GPU we also have a winner at benchmarks in GPU.
Don't compare High end PC against this, im not saying this sucks but just like the chick said in the video its "CHEAP" cuz its an alternative for your wallet.
ATM Intel is the king at CPU that's y everyone its waiting Bulldozer
@W4hrH31t The APU/LLnao is netbook technology. What your referring to is Bulldozer when your trying to compare this technology to high-end gaming pcs. Yes, there has been no comparison by ME made to high end gaming versus this APU. What I was talking about is this netbook/laptop APU being able to run the FF14 benchmark smoothly indicating it can run most modern games smoothly. Thus you have reasonably powerful mobile graphics solutions with an extremely small form factor.
@W4hrH31t This product does not compete against high end gaming pcs so stop bringing up that topic. I wouldn't compare a car to a jet, but, apparently you would. This product completes against Intels GMA integrated graphics to which it blows away. It also is rumored to beat the Sandy Bridge proceesors like the 2600k for mobile/laptop computing in cpu-computations. Look at the video posted in my original comment if you want to see some benchmarks/evidence.
@W4hrH31t FYI, I was not comparing a CPU versus GPU + CPU. I was comparing/referring to Intel's integrated graphics + intel cpu (sandy bridge) running FF14 versus FF14 on an APU. In that case, your comparing a GPU + CPU versus GPU + CPU. Only difference being once is physically integrated into one chip as a APU and in the other they are physically seperated by a small distance(the intel solution).
@W4hrH31t To be honest, the lack of forethought in your replies makes me wonder if you've even bothered to watch my original source video and more specifically the FF14 benchmark demo were talking about. I suspect not or you would have realized that that comparison is a CPU + GPU(APU) versus CPU + GPU(Intel GMA + sand bridge). Ugh. "Let's talk about facts'. Next time you use that sentance, actually make sure what follows is a fact and not an assumption based of lack of research, mmk?
@W4hrH31t Last but finally it is not 'cheap' because its an alternative for your wallet. It's remarkably cheap because its designed ot go into netbooks. You know, netbooks? The smaller version of Laptops that are traditionally between 7" to 10" and cost between $299.99 to $399.99? Its not a shocker that APUs are cheap considering they are designed to be part of a mobile solution that all the parts together cost under $400.00.
The real marvel of this technology is the power + size factor.
@W4hrH31t Sure, there are a lot of gaming laptops out there for $1700+ that have 19" screens, blu-ray, a nify built-in speaker system, etc. However, those gaming laptops unlike an APU that can perform at 46 watts use closer to 300 watts resulting in very short battery lifetimes. In addition, they cost 4-5 time as much as a netbook with an APU would and anyone whose ever owned a gaming laptop will tell you one of the largest downsides is the weight. 12lb versus 4lb or in otherwords 4kg vs 1.5kg.
@W4hrH31t The amazing part about that is they've managed to shrink near the power of a gaming laptop down to 1/4th the size, at 1/4th the cost in a form factor of 7". The only gaming system I have compared it to is the Nintendo 3DS which has about the same price as a netbook and roughly the same form factor. As any gamer will tell you, it takes a lot more processing power/gpu strength to run the FF14 demo then it does to run most blurry, low polygon Nintendo 3DS games. APU = good accomplishment
@W4hrH31t Will this good accomplishment ever replace a high end PC? OF COURSE NOT. Is it better than a Nintedo 3DS? In performance and in value you get for your money. Does it make mobile gaming on a netbook(7" laptop) a reality for the first time ever? Yes! Did I ever once compare it to a high end gaming pc? No! Who was the first person in this entire video comment section to every mention high end gamign pc? You! Why did you bring up high end gaming PCs in reference to a netbook component?
i'm pretty sure she forgot lenovo....

This is only a price thing, Even High end mobile devices doesnt use AMD atm.

thoughts about this video:
- great presentation and editing
- cute and non-distracting presenter
- nicely informative about the benefits of AMD's APU tech for basic consumers
Seems pretty good in my books. Good video, BestBuy!
