Watching RC act in love scenes like this, it is hard to believe he is gay, maybe he dated women too for awhile. he had to learn to kiss a women like that somewhere, besides good acting. he stated Rachel glow came form the fact she was in love with her bf Bryan.

At least Ralph is honest with Meggie stating they can have hot sex for a brief time, but they have to face he can never have a loving relationsship with her. Hm, For me it was not a big surprise because in my country there were some actors who were gays and nobody knew about it especialy one of them was in a similar situation as R. Repulsive. This movie was promoted even in the eastern block by the communists in an atempt to destroy the faith of my people.Ive personally watched it, but not because I would like it, but to point out some crucial errors. And this scene..abhorent,abomitaning, evil....

@DaltonofHonour The very nature of this scene and the entire movie is indicative of the fact that men were not created to be celibate. That's why God made Eve for Adam. I believe we'd have far less sexual abuse issues arising out of the Catholic church if priests were allowed to marry. It occurrs far less in protestant churches than Catholic.

@kjhistory1517 Eastern Catholicism and Orthodoxy permit married men to become priests. Only the Latin rite requiers celibacy...Pedophiles arent heterosexuals, they are atracted to minors, be it clergy or secular job. Celibacy has nothing to do with sex abuse of minors. Paedophilia is a dicease, that needs medical treatment not heterosexual relationship.

well, i say that the movie is much better than the book!!! the book is okay but its such a depressing book.i would have hated the story if i hadn't watched the movie first!! do not read the book first is my advice!!!

You see it all your way but these days 'western' men don't even support their own wife and children - it's all 50/50, pluse the other 100% they expect their women to give to them when they get 'home' - so wha tthe heck are you talking about? One of the priests is our parish is DDG, and young. I'm 54 and the guy even convalidated my marriage to my very Catholic husband! After sending the photos to my younger sister, even SHE (very prudish) couldn't resist making a "naughty" comment on him. Blasphemer! ;) Oh, Catholic husbands make the BEST, well, YOU know! ;)

The Thorn Birds is actually a glimpse into the future. Sparsely populated planet (thanks to Armageddon war). People have rejected corruption and live pious Christian lives. And beautiful women choose Priests, not bad/rich guys. Heaven on Earth indeed.

But the sexiest and greatest actress in the whole thing remains Barabara Stanwyck.
