really, it doesnt matter what your dosage was. once you have passed your induction phase (the first day or 2 of suboxone use), you don't ever need more than 2 mg per day (1/4 of a pill).
That is, unless you are allowing yourself to get high off the buprenorphine. Bad idea.
@MongloBonglo - I've been on 16mgs of bup for the past 2 1/2 years and I start to feel the beginning of withdrawal coming on everyday. It almost does nothing to me anymore, and they're trying to talk me into coming off it, but there's no way in hell I'm going through full withdrawal again.

Man, I used to go through withdrawal all the time. It was the worst. Day 2 and 3 were the worst. Day 3 was like an amplified day 2 for me though. I had non stop shits, and this weird metallic taste / smell, and weird dreams / dope dreams / no sleep.

i quit doing herion and oxycontin. cold turkey. i was up too over 200 mg a day of oxy. plus 40 or 50 bags every 2 days. but it took me 1 week to get threw the cramping vomitting and a over a month to stop the body pain but the worst part is the mental addiction the deprisson. but it does pass in time. please if your doing it keep it up.. be free i was sick of being a slave.

This girl is obviously new to the idea of recovery. I was a heroin addict for 12 years and I used to say the same things as her. I've gone through withdrawals and thought I was home free only to relapse a couple of months later. Every time I relapsed it was because I said "I'm obviously a heroin addict but I can smoke pot or at least drink". No. Once your an addict you need to quit everything and start going to A.A. meetings. It usually takes people years to understand this. I hope she's strong.

People addicted to drugs can attend AA if they want...a drug is a drug is a drug. What you will find is there is more long term sobriety at AA meetings, than NA." Long term sobriety" in AA is 20+ years...In NA if you have 3 years you are considered an "Old Timer". Sitting in a room listening to people talk about doing drugs is NO GOOD FOR ANYONE. I have never enjoyed NA meetings but AA meetings are much better. Truth be told..going to jail did more for me than any meeting or treatment center.

i believe if drugs were legal, the crime rate would drop and so would addiction. People want what they can't have. Being able to purchase legal opiates wouldn't make people use any more than illegal opiates...it would just stop the criminal behaviour. Statistics say that every heroin addict commits 2-10 felonies per week...I know i did my fair share..stealing, boosting, returning stolen items, you name it we did it. Thank God i have been clean for many years. I think legalization is critical.

baths kind of help that muscle aching you get, just a bit. get some valium or something from your doc it helps maybe 10%. there's no way of getting around having a nightmarish week but there's a few things that help a little

He stole my moms laptop and my mom had to go buy it back from his dealer. My brother asked me to help him get clean cuz he found out he was going to be a father. I helped him and got him suboxone and made him come to me everyday to get his dose so I knew he was not uaing. Well 2 weeks passed and he came over with his gf on a monday and played our Wii with my daughter all night.

I've been on Methadone for 8 years since I was 19. Good luck girl. I've tried many times to quit cold turkey, got very sick, didn't sleep for two weeks. I failed and went back on it I'm only on 15 miligrams a day but it has taken a toll on my life. I've never tried Heroin nor do I want to but I no how tough it is to get off the hard opiates. I wish I would have just quit and took the pain years ago. I know one day I'm going to have to get off Methadone, I'm just scared to death of the withdraws.
@Miles3363 , just drop 1ml every week or two and you shouldn't feel much pain, i've got of it quite a few times like that, but at the mo i'm back on it, 35ml a day and plan to start reducing AGAIN for the new year.....good luck..you CAN do it.....
@Miles3363 Miles..I have been a methadone patient for many years myself. Don't be afraid of your detox. If done properly you will have minimal side effects. The hardest part is the mental dependence on it...physically if you go down slowly, and I mean like 1-2 mg's per week...then on that last month, go even slower..you will feel very little if any physical pain. But be sure to have proper support in place because the mental detox is by far the hardest part of all. Good luck sweetie. u can do it

I have watched TV and seen that place where people go somewhere in Thailand...where they drink this stuff and puke their guts out every day for the first month...then they are treated with herbs, yoga, spiritual healing and it really looks awesome. It's free, all you have to do is pay for your plane ticket and sometimes they help you with that. Check it out.

After being clean for 7 years, I went back to college to get my degree in Human services/ CDP (chemical Dependency Professional) and now work as an interventionist and drug counsellor. I have looked up this Ibogane treatment facility in Thailand and found it to be very interesting....and it has a great success ratio. Sharing knowledge of this nature in here is going to do nothing but help people find their way to serenity and getting clean

I was hooked on chemicals and needed herbal and medincinal help to get off heroin and stay clean. I don't believe there is any ailment on our planet that our maker didn't make an antidote for..holistic remedies and spiritual healing is the ONLY way for most people to get and stay clean. Talking endlessly does NOTHING for most.

Sorry for going on so long but I am very passionate about this and being limited in how many words I can use makes it hard to get my entire message across. Opiate replacement therapy has a 62% success rate meaning out of every 100 people who go on methadone, 62 of them are still clean 5 years after detoxing from methadone. Those are INCREDIBLY good numbers..AA, NA, CA, OA and LMNOPA can not
@sploozy give you those numbers because they have NO idea how long people stay clean after beginning their program because no one wants to give their true identity to do studies on. Personally I will stick to programs that have good, solid, honest statistics. "What you hear here, stays here" does NOTHING to help others decide how to go about getting and staying clean. Addiction has nothing to do with being stupid. This concept doesn't strike home to non addicts unless they've had the misfortune of living with one or watching one slowly degenerate from say a heavy drinker to a full blown addict. Man, I used to go through withdrawal all the time. It was the worst. Day 2 and 3 were the worst. Day 3 was like an amplified day 2 for me though. I had non stop shits, and this weird metallic taste / smell, and weird dreams / dope dreams / no sleep.

i quit doing herion and oxycontin. cold turkey. i was up too over 200 mg a day of oxy. plus 40 or 50 bags every 2 days. but it took me 1 week to get threw the cramping vomitting and a over a month to stop the body pain but the worst part is the mental addiction the deprisson. but it does pass in time. please if your doing it keep it up.. be free i was sick of being a slave.

This girl is obviously new to the idea of recovery. I was a heroin addict for 12 years and I used to say the same things as her. I've gone through withdrawals and thought I was home free only to relapse a couple of months later. Every time I relapsed it was because I said "I'm obviously a heroin addict but I can smoke pot or at least drink". No. Once your an addict you need to quit everything and start going to A.A. meetings. It usually takes people years to understand this. I hope she's strong.

Long term sobriety" in AA is 20+ years...In NA if you have 3 years you are considered an "Old Timer". Sitting in a room listening to people talk about doing drugs is NO GOOD FOR ANYONE. I have never enjoyed NA meetings but AA meetings are much better. Truth be told..going to jail did more for me than any meeting or treatment center.

i believe if drugs were legal, the crime rate would drop and so would addiction. People want what they can't have. Being able to purchase legal opiates wouldn't make people use any more than illegal opiates...it would just stop the criminal behaviour. Statistics say that every heroin addict commits 2-10 felonies per week...I know i did my fair share..stealing, boosting, returning stolen items, you name it we did it. Thank God i have been clean for many years. I think legalization is critical.

I helped him and got him suboxone and made him come to me everyday to get his dose so I knew he was not uaing. I've been on Methadone for 8 years since I was 19. Good luck girl. I've tried many times to quit cold turkey, got very sick, didn't sleep for two weeks. I failed and went back on it I'm only on 15 miligrams a day but it has taken a toll on my life. I've never tried Heroin nor do I want to but I no how tough it is to get off the hard opiates. I wish I would have just quit and took the pain years ago. I know one day I'm going to have to get off Methadone, I'm just scared to death of the withdraws.

@Miles3363 Miles..I have been a methadone patient for many years myself. Don't be afraid of your detox. If done properly you will have minimal side effects. The hardest part is the mental dependence on it...physically if you go down slowly, and I mean like 1-2 mg's per week...then on that last month, go even slower..you will feel very little if any physical pain. But be sure to have proper support in place because the mental detox is by far the hardest part of all. Good luck sweetie. u can do it

Opiate replacement therapy has a 62% success rate meaning out of every 100 people who go on methadone, 62 of them are still clean 5 years after detoxing from methadone. I didn't sleep for 3 wks - they had to pump me so full of librium that my BP plummeted. I'm not perfect yet but it's been 6 months since I did heroin and I'm mighty damned proud of myself. I'm on dope... I love it. nothing wrong with it... less addictive than coffee... now heroine that's something I never thought of doing...I ain't doing it either... I don't even take dope all the time... I only take it at nite so I have awsome dreams... even though I have over a months worth for myself... Man I wish it got better on day 3. I'm trying to get of suboxone and I had to go 5 days without it a few times, and it seemed like each day was worse than they day before. I thought it was supposed to peak around 3 or 4 days, but that wasnt the case for me. Especially when its been 4 or 5 days and you start to feel so out of it mentally from not sleeping and you're walking around like a zombie. I wish i could go back in time to the day where i first used opiates and chose not to do it that time.

@jazzas90000 You only become addicted because you are constantly feeding yourself the chemical, after so long your body NEEDS it, Not wants it for pleasure anymore, I am a big fan of the drug culture, I like to try most drugs at least several times, I get a great sense of euphoria that is very enjoyable, I do strong opiates that are even stronger than heroin and I only do it like once every month or two months, And I have never been addicted to any drug besides cigarettes.
