Why is it that people feel a need to associate a specific way of dressing or feeling or acting with musical genres? Eyeliner, hair swept all to one side and suicidal ideation pretty much ruined the emo scene for me.

Now if you say you like awesome bands like Dashboard or Jimmy Eat World people think you like wearing make up or you're going to slit your wrists at a moment's notice or something.

I don't know any so-called "emos" nowadays who I feel any sense of kinship towards or even like.

shut up about emo.... its just a band. all emo ever did was say its ok to play emotional songs in the scene..the get up kids are great but come on they started what emo? embrace, rites of spring and one last wish.. then it died... the emotional infection lived on in the scene.. so what.. listen to screamy asz bands alot of there lyrics are about some ex who slept with there dad... who cares... you wont one day i promise!

they are pure emo band. and i am not telling this as a bad thing. they are authentic emo, emo is not wired hair, pozers with eyeliner. emo is a kind of music, emotional music, and more bad-moody. it is not bad. i am not emo, i am listening to rock music, but i think emo (just the authentic emo music) is very good kind of music. pozers are pozers, emo is music. thats all.

Dashboard yes is great.. To say they are the best emo band ever you obviously have no clue.. Try Texas is the Reason, The Promise Ring, Sensefield.. The roots of "emo"..

@gbanks454 They are emo, if you look it up emo is not a bunch of whiny little girls singing about killing themselves its just punk with more melodies and a lot of indie bands have taken it over to come up with the lighter sound, the Get Up Kids are one of the best ones to do this thus creating second wave emo which DC is, then third wave came and ruined it all...
