I met Annette Olzon in 08 at ProgPowerUSA where I am involved. She was the new girl and Tuomas decided wisely to hide out in the US for a while to let the fires dies down. Before I knew it, I was talking to Annette like she was an old friend.Tarja as amazing as she sings, is not easy to talk to as she is very nervous and introspective.Tuomas is that way too and it was bad for that band.They broke up in 02.People didnt get all crazy over that.Just let these gals sing.Its good stuff, ALL OF IT.

in fact,it gives nightwish a more pop-like taste,in my personal opinion,she-s a good singer,but she takes away the word @metal@ from the band...thou,i love the orchestral and the choir effects they have...

I agree, Annette has more of a pop/rock voice but I found Tarja's voice in Nightwish a bit too operatic an over the top sometimes. I must admit that both girls sound better on the studio recordings than live though!

i dont know i love tarja live more the power comes through even with errors but they both have good talents COMPLETELY different talents i hate the term popish to voices though pop is a music style not a voice style

"pop" is a shortened version of popular ( I think the phrase was first used in the 60's ) so has covered a lot of musical genres

( Elvis and Merseybeat to the cRAP in the charts today ) .

Vocally Tarja is obviously operatic and Anette is contemporary. I love both of them as singers for Nightwish and the word pop is not used in a negative way. Iron Maiden were quoted once as a pop metal band. How messed up is that? ALL THE BEST!!!
