yeah, this video sure takes me back alright.I was scared to death, when this song came on i'd take of running,ha ha.Right down to the creepy sillouette of freddie,to his creepy face when he was sitting in the theater, then the monsters, boy still gives me the chills when I here this song.
This video brings back so many memories!! I had the tune of the song in my head since 77 and I finally looked up this song and there it was! I couldn't believe it!! I wasnt even sure if the song or clip was real since I had such a "Great Imagination" as a child (i.e. Walter Mitty) but hearing this took me back 33 years to a time when life was innocent and kids could appreciate simple cartoons like this to help them learn basic spelling! I hope to share this with my kids some day! God Bless!
Of ALL The Electric Company's animated clips, this is the only one I have NEVER forgotten! My niece and I would sing this song endlessly when we were children. :-) Thanks so much for posting!
@MsPandaRosa I've watched my share of monster movies and I don't recall being scared by them. Certain scenes from monster movies have scared and believe I have gotten frightened quite often over things.
btw, I always thought that this Steady Freddy segment of the ELECTRIC COMPANY went: "Steady Freddy, Steady Freddy, Freddy Don't You Cry" not Fret.
@67nairb Actually there was one monster movie that really freaked me out; it was VAN HELSING-2004. Especially the terrifying werewolf when he looked right into the camera showed his sharp teeth and gave out a terrible roar and the scene where Count Dracula's two vampiress daughters who were flying through the sky terrfying everybody in the village.
False, but only in getting the words messed up. Everyone does that with a song or two. In context it does make sense, what else to do when surrounded by a bunch of monsters :-)
@MsPandaRosa If I WAS a monster, (which I'm not), I would be the friendly type. So whenever Freddy gets frightened, I would speak words of comfort to him, then he'd feel better and forget why he was frightened in the first place.

Aw, you sound like a fine friendly fellow, monster or not (and bet you'd be a cute one). Good to have a friend on your side, esp when you watch fiendish films.
@BeatlesAmiYumi I know, right? I had to find SO many of these little snippets of songs from classic SS and TEC that have been floating around in my head for 25
Did you take this from a different source than when you previously posted it? I don't remember that falsetto adlib at 0:54 in previous YouTube postings of this clip...although I *do* remember it from when I was a kid, and noticed it had been missing here on YouTube. (And it begs the question why Electric Company added it.)
@flownogard not as much as one sketch that followed after that song once: Morgan Freeman's Count Dracula having 5 seconds to come up with what later became one of my favorite words: freaky.
This one freaked me out when I was little lol

Poor Freddy, I'd like to give him a great big hug. Yes, he'd feel much better and he wouldn't be frightened anymore. Don't you think so?

Well, Frankenstein could be a nice guy, or would you rather have fur, like Grover?
Bet you'd be a cute monster!

Poor Freddy! What a frightening situation! Still, the monsters look faintly friendly. Maybe they're also monster movie fans?
