Maybe Sega lost ground to Sony and Nintendo - But that doesn't change the fact that they came from a small company to beating the living crap out of Nintendo. Nintendo took revenge but they had much more to work with. Sonic has still become iconic for game industry, and I don't recall as many Mario titles as Sonic titles, especially lately - Colors did great and generations did incredible sales. Today the 3-party console wars make a new console pointless, but there will surley be many more games

True Sonic crashed and burned. I'll admit that. But each game DID have something good about it. One thing SEGA always did was try something new. I cannot name two games that had the exact same gameplay elements what so ever (I'd even list them now but I don't have enough space xD). Colors and Generations are returns to the original I feel. They are focusing on the simple run/platform and fixing that before gimmiking. I hope they will slowly integrate story and character development from here. =)

Humans are an integral part of Sonic games granted the first ones may not of had to many of them but there are are plenty of things in Mario and other games that were not in the original title but went on to be great additions to the series. The humans in the sonic games could be like that if used correctly as for jcudal's common man president unless there is extreme racial prejudice on the planet could be elected as an animal or person. as for sonic in 2d or 3d I think he's good in both.

And in many of Knuckles' narrations, his dialogue was written with his sentences ending in "mon" (man) and other assorted Jamaican dialect. lol

They actually got a fact wrong. If you connect Sonic 1 to S&K, you only get Blue Sphere. They couldn't get Knuckles to play in Sonic 1 due to the pallette.

To be honest, I don't think they tried hard enough. I mean, a few games have Knuckles in Sonic 1, and it looks fine. =D

Once Sonic started to talk, it all started to slip.

Sonic was cool because he didn't. If you add too much to something, it loses coolness. That's just how it is. And that's what Sonic Team NEVER STOPPED DOING. Ugh. I swear to god.
