As of right now, I prefer the Fade simply because it feels shorter than the Deep Roads. Since this is my first playthrough, I hated the Fade because I had no idea what I was doing.
For me, the only real trouble in the Deep Roads was the Brood Mother; it took me double-digit reloads to figure her out. The rotating statue was easy pasy and the Anvil fight itself took 1 reload. DAO made Dwarves interesting again.
Where as my mage game is sitting in the earliest part of the fade. I know how to do it, I just...don't....wanna!
Deep Roads are annoying but workable, it's just a matter of fighting your way through.
The Fade. however, is a question of figuring out what forms to use where. It's a pain.
