It is probably the best interpretation of that piece and especially with the Berlin Phil, they make it into a totally exhilarating and satisfying experience!
Yes, I'm agree with you, Martha Argerich's interpretation it's meaby the best of all, of course she is the best piano player, but y like the Glenn Gould's performans, more sutil, you can percibe better all the piano notes
I, myself, do not like the Glenn Gould performance at all. He does not capture the Strauss style and it is too calculating for my tastes. It needs a more mercurial approach much like Argerich.
I adore this piece, so I equally adore hearing many different versions of it. I "found" it when I was 8 years old on a record... Byron Janis was the pianist and I have seldom found one that really thrills me as much. But that is so subjective.....

Thanks. You certainly know (as a pianist) how scary this piece is. It isn't your normal concerto. It will be fun to play it again sometime in the future.

Its so fast there is no elegance to this performance. I've played this and it just races by. Too bad.

Its too fast, its a mistake but, I think its better, it sounds more expresive, more dificult.
