  • this is difficult as hell!!!! respect to each one who can play it!

  • Its so fast there is no elegance to this performance. I've played this and it just races by. Too bad.

  • Then you probably would not like Martha Argerich's performance...hers is fast as well. But I certainly hope you don't prefer a performance like Glenn Gould; it is very pedestrian. FYI, Gould did not like many composers after Mozart including Debussy and Strauss. He only played their pieces because he was producing a musical documentary series much like Bernstein did.

  • Its too fast, its a mistake but, I think its better, it sounds more expresive, more dificult.

  • Then you probably would like Glenn Gould's performance which I think is way too slow. Do you like Martha Argerich's rendition of it? Hers is also fast like mine. It is probably the best interpretation of that piece and especially with the Berlin Phil, they make it into a totally exhilarating and satisfying experience!

  • Yes, I'm agree with you, Martha Argerich's interpretation it's meaby the best of all, of course she is the best piano player, but y like the Glenn Gould's performans, more sutil, you can percibe better all the piano notes

  • I, myself, do not like the Glenn Gould performance at all. He does not capture the Strauss style and it is too calculating for my tastes. It needs a more mercurial approach much like Argerich.

  • I adore this piece, so I equally adore hearing many different versions of it. I "found" it when I was 8 years old on a record... Byron Janis was the pianist and I have seldom found one that really thrills me as much. But that is so subjective.....

  • I don't think this piece is too difficult...come on...

  • Try working on the music...then decide if you still feel the same way.

  • A performance of utter precision with ease and style, of this devilishly demanding composition. Bravo!

    Barbara V.

  • Thanks. You certainly know (as a pianist) how scary this piece is. It isn't your normal concerto. It will be fun to play it again sometime in the future.
