  • @serriena25 You are very welcome and thank you for your comments. Gary.

  • Make sure when inserting a link that you have the creased side pointing down--that way when you go to insert a following link it doesn't get caught in the fold.

  • 3:08= Heart Attack=O

  • thats very great

  • omg... gary !!

i just found my gum wrapper chain in my desk while i was cleaning it and i am embarassed to tell you it is less than 1,000 feet !! i started it in 1971.

my congratulations to you and your very excellent accomplishment

btw...i never chewed the gum either, i always "found" my wrappers !!

you make me want to start weaving it again...

  • @charissamarluk

Your chain is nothing to sneeze at. If you join my "chain gang" your chain would be in the top 15.

  • @gumwrapper1

join your "chain gang"... cute !! i didn't realize you could use different kinds wrappers.

but i guess if you can tear and fold it the same way...

you could use lots of different kinds of candy wrappers

  • @1402Nadine

My favorite gum is Juicy Fruit, and no, I did not chew all the gum myself.

  • what a waist of gum.. i will eat it 4 u if u want! haha

  • Damn.

How old were you when you started making that thing?

  • @bloodhounds661995

I started the chain on March 11, 1965 when I was fourteen.

  • OMG.!!

How much time do you spend in that??

  • das hab ich auch mal gemacht.....hatte frühe ne Kette von ca. 10m! :-) Suchtgefahr!

  • could you do this with ricola wrappers?

  • @guruguruponchan27 You can use any type of wrapper as long as the length to width ratio is correct.

  • @gumwrapper1 Oh cool. I tried it and it worked

  • Comment removed

  • @Snowiethebunny Yes. Just cut them to size. See my "build" page on my web site.

  • @gumwrapper1 thanks that was quick lol

  • Did you get donations or did you spend $219,600 on gum

  • I thought my 143 footer was long!... that thing is amazing! I think I have a lot of catching up to do! :)

  • wonderful, amazing, mind blowing , awesome !

  • i bet u have doin that

  • no offence but what do u for a living?

  • @yoyohoes

    I'm retired.

  • what #page are you in world records 2008?

  • @ducttapestuff12

    Page #86.

  • Oh. My. God. That's very cool!!

How many years has it been since you first started making the original chain??

And does it ever break when being measured? If so, do you know how to re-atatch and fix it?

  • @IceyPenguin1196 I started this chain over 45 years ago. It is made very sturdy and no, it does not break.

    Thank you for your comments.

  • @gumwrapper1 Wow! Thanks for answering :)

I learned how to make those chains but I don't think I have 45 years of patience to keep adding on to it.

  • Zomg.... :O

  • that is jus nuts..all that gum wow..dude your jaw must hurt by now lol

  • hmm ich mach das ganz anders :D

  • @aczsoccer8

A few brands still have the wrappers. You can also take colored paper sheets and cut them into three pieces vertically and then cut them into eleven pieces each horizontally. This will give you 33 links from each piece, enough to make about 8 inches of chain.

  • WTF

  • MAn, yo uexplain so fast I have to pauze it over and over again xD

Congrats on the world record, btw :D

  • Woah. My mom and godmother did this when they were in high school. My mom's went all the way around her room but my aunt got mad at her and tore it up. My god mother still has hers and im starting my own now. :)

  • wow that's amazing!! how much money do you think you've spent on gum though? i would attempt your amazing feat but just don't have the money :(

  • @KunaiKnight I haven't bought gum in decades. All of the wrappers have been donated. Thanks.

  • Wow that is totally amazing

  • asu MECHA!!! wow

  • adik

  • Oh wow!!! You are absolutely amazing! Congrats on all the recognition from that chain. =]]

  • Thanks Sarah, I appreciate your comments.

    -Steven

  • how come when i fold gum wrapper chains they all just kinda fall apart? yours looks all firm like if i drop mine it will probelly brake whats with that?

  • When made properly, the chain can lift 5 pounds (2 kg) of weight without falling apart.

  • damn i must be either using the rong part of the wrapper or i just dont have the talent mine keep on falling apeart :(

  • Email me directly thru my website and I will "talk" you thru the process.

  • they stopped making wrigley's wrappers

  • you are the gum wrapper! really awesome... you save the earth

  • haha that's so cool. . .you're certificate has gum wrps. . .AWESOME. . .a question...do you actually eat the gum¿?

  • I still chew gum, but thankfully, most of the wrappers have been donated. The gum that came with these wrappers weighs over 4 and a half tons.

  • This makes me sad. Me and my friends have been trying to beat the world record... sniffle... that's not going to happen. This dude has the whole word with him. We have... 5 people supplying us. This is very depressing

  • I have had wrappers sent to me from all over the world by many wonderful people through my website.

  • woah!!!

  • thats crazy dude butstill really cool

  • Totally Awesome Video Gary!

    Looks professionally recorded.
