@titanium748 =D I am from the US, and i grew up with a big ol Muscle car, a Pontiac Trans Am, which has a nice big and loud V8... but some of my favourite cars are Alfa Romeos.. I love the 159, i want one for a normal car. =)
I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old DOHC Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree
Automobile. Konstrukteur wurde Giuseppe Merosi.
Information for the OldtimerMercedesBenz fan: only because in 1910 Darracq (horrible cars) in Portello has been taken over and only Italian (Giuseppe Merosi) has developed first ALFA does not qualify to say that the origins are French. Alfa has not "French" origin !
And now I would suggest you look for Mercedes films and give there your comments.
@OldtimerMercedesBenz dude, just go wiki Alfa Romeo and see the innovation italian designers used. Mercedes was a piece of junk to what Alfa and Lancia designers were capable of ;)
@Martinangelkoski As I said, it's impossible to change brainwashed people. I'm sorry, but you are one of them. I wont say anything if you buy yourself an Italian car, but do not say it is the best, if it isn't!
Use 1:100 (1%) two stroke oil in your tank to prevent tank and engine corrosion if you use the modern aggressive fuel that contain 5-10% methanol (not good for the old engine and fuel system materials!)
@Pinin500 I'll have my nice day in a Mercedes... Off course you admire Alfa so much, because you look at them only on the internet... I do not look on cars like girls (looks like you're one of them), who see only the body... I can't say it isn't beautiful, but if you look from the technical side, it isn't so good, you know. I know many fanatics like you, and I know it is impossible to change brainwashed people, so... I feel sorry for you. Have a nice day.
I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry modern fuels, use 1:100 two stroke oil / mix as regualar driving fuel that keeps the old gaskets and metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions.
Most Porsche 911, Ferrai Dino and mercedes Benz Pagoda 280SL vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps the injectors clean as new!
Yea, i know what you mean :p. so, how's the rust with alfa romeos in the states? in central europe where i live that's the biggest issue with alfas and any other italian classic really..
hi-rust is 1/2 the hell, spares is the other. I got my blue Mont off my uncle in 83 (I was 22) & in the shop it went, urethane paint no stupid clearcoat. I've fixed rocker panel rust twice since, not bad for a Alfa but mine lives in air cond. only sees rain if I'm on a trip in it. My Mum's Alfetta sedan about broke in two from rust in 8 yrs. :( My 1st car (Spider) and a GTV I had rusted viciously. And Mont parts are ... well, rediculous if its something not on all the105 chassis Alfas.
bugger, i knew finding spares is a pain in the ass but i had hoped to find a rust free montreal from somewhere in america..
anyways, that doesn't mean the plan is off.. me an my brother are true alfa fan's. he works at a alfa/ fiat dealership (well it's not really an alfa dealer anymore, long story) and is restoring an alfetta gtv with his boss and some guys from the workshop.
anyways how do you get yer alfa's? alfa hasn't any dealers in america
@xxx69roband I know exactly what this is... I was a mechanic for Lancia, Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Iveco... Alfa? Best car in the world? Well it may look good, but technically it isn't. 156, 159 ,166, 147, no matter which model, 1.9 or 2.4 JtD, when winter came 70% of cars which were sold in SLO needed urgent repairs, especially about diesel injection. Every single winter three of us could not fix so many cars, and we were the best team. Then we left that shop and what happened? He had to sell it!
@xxx69roband Yes, of course... Like you said, "ALFA ROMEO the best cars in the world", so you talk about new ones. As we all know, cars are less reliable because of the electronics, which helps them to make less greenhouse gas emissions. So, when I talk about a good car, I say old, veteran or oldtimer. Alfa has a very rich history, although you maybe don't know, Alfa origins are french... And it is not so easy to say which car brand is best... It may be your personal best, but not official...
@jetskiface99 There are hundreds of factors which make a good car, not only good look and good sound, you know. Or perhaps you don't... But anyway, most of the specialists and car enthusiasts you would ask about the best car, the answer would be the 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300SL... And why? Because it was the first supercar, a revolution, a car waaaay ahead of it's time... And the space frame chassis, gullwing doors, advanced engine, and off course- the shape... All that made it a legend...
@jetskiface99 I like Mercedes because it is the best, I was a fan of Opel before, but since I work on Mercedes, I know what it means to be the best car! When you will be an engineer or at LEAST a mechanic, then you can talk about which car is good... And as you say, the sound is not everything...
@OldtimerMercedesBenz ; Sound to me like an envious german, why are you here waving a banner for the dull mercedes brand, because Alfa romeo is the most
stylish charasmatic car on the roads, and you don't like it....
You have to pay attention what you are saying. Alfa is not French. Giuseppe Merosi has developed first Alfa after Darracq failed (licencees production). There is no link between Alfa and Darracq models. I am outraged by your false evidence !!! Go to "Mercedes" videos please ! (Verbreitung von Lügen können auch gerichtlich....)
This really is sex to your ears..Why did our goverments invent shit like decibel muteners and sponsering envirement-friendly quiet clean little engines..You hear a car like this start and you truly are in heaven.
i feel so sorey for alfa ! cuz they realy lost what they were doeing ,hi berformace cars with poerful small displasment engines and great body.gtv , montereal.....
Small V8s revving high sound the best. Pure Alfa magic. Montreal is the most fantastic car AR has yet made and they have indeed made many awesome cars.
What rubbish!! Alfa Romeo are known world wide for being rust buckets and bad design engines!!!

@OldtimerMercedesBenz ; The frenchman Darracq started alfa in Italy and failed
after a few years.,
Nicola Romeo bought Alfa and added his own surname to form Alfa romeo and
made a sucess and 100 years later its still an iconic blue chip brand, 100% Italian.
