Information for the OldtimerMercedesBenz fan: only because in 1910 Darracq (horrible cars) in Portello has been taken over and only Italian (Giuseppe Merosi) has developed first ALFA does not qualify to say that the origins are French. Alfa has not "French" origin !

Yea, i know what you mean :p. so, how's the rust with alfa romeos in the states? in central europe where i live that's the biggest issue with alfas and any other italian classic really..

hi-rust is 1/2 the hell,spares is the other. I got my blue Mont off my uncle in 83 (I was 22) & in the shop it went, urethane paint no stupid clearcoat. I've fixed rocker panel rust twice since, not bad for a Alfa but mine lives in air cond. only sees rain if I'm on a trip in it. My Mum's Alfetta sedan about broke in two from rust in 8 yrs. :(  My 1st car (Spider) and a GTV I had rusted viciously. And Mont parts are ... well, rediculous if its something not on all the105 chassis Alfas.

bugger, i knew finding spares is a pain in the ass but i had hoped to find a rust free montreal from somewhere in america..

anyways, that doesn't mean the plan is off.. me an my brother are true alfa fan's. he works at a alfa/ fiat dealership (well it's not really an alfa dealer anymore, long story) and is restoring an alfetta gtv with his boss and some guys from the workshop.

anyways how do you get yer alfa's? alfa hasn't any dealers in america

@xxx69roband I know exactly what this is... I was a mechanic for Lancia, Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Iveco... Alfa? Best car in the world? Well it may look good, but technically it isn't. 156, 159 ,166, 147, no matter which model, 1.9 or 2.4 JtD, when winter came 70% of cars which were sold in SLO needed urgent repairs, especially about diesel injection. Every single winter three of us could not fix so many cars, and we were the best team. Then we left that shop and what happened? He had to sell it!

As we all know, cars are less reliable because of the electronics, which helps them to make less greenhouse gas emissions. So, when I talk about a good car, I say old, veteran or oldtimer. Alfa has a very rich history, although you maybe don't know, Alfa origins are french... And it is not so easy to say which car brand is best... It may be your personal best, but not official...

Because it was the first supercar, a revolution, a car waaaay ahead of it's time... And the space frame chassis, gullwing doors, advanced engine, and off course- the shape... All that made it a legend...
