  • Wow. I'm always getting yelled at for slacking off and not applying myself and ever since grade school my teachers would comment on it saying i don't pay attention and don't try hard enough. I wish my parents would understand.

  • I knew it! I'm 95% sure I have this and it makes me so mad. Ever since grade school, teachers have told my parents "She's so bright but she doesn't apply herself! She's so quiet too.." I want to do well in school but I have trouble organizing and getting started on projects. Even easy ones. Projects and assignments take me soooo much longer than my peers because I get distracted in my thoughts. I hate wasting my potential all the time but I don't know how to discipline myself. :c

  • @cutexinu That accurately describes my entire school experience, Kindergarten through 12th grade. I didn't get diagnosed until I was 22. Do yourself a favor and talk to a doctor! It's a huge relief to know that it really isn't your fault.

  • @Sorrowisapanther Did it help you substantially? I've tried when I was younger but my parents didn't take me in to get diagnosed because they didn't want me to be on any meds. So just recently I talked to my college adviser about it but he told me that since I've had a few decent years in school I must have developed some coping skills. :/

  • @cutexinu Medication has helped me, definitely! I saw a world of difference once I started on Adderall. I still struggle, but I feel like I have more control over my attention now than I ever have.

  • This is a horrible disease it ruined my life I swear. 19yo male

  • It's funny how I watched this in order to do research to see if I might have ADD, and zoned out through half of it and had no idea what she said. xD

  • Could you have the hyperactive type??

  • i might have this and have to move all the time and cant concentrate and stuff and i have ocd and tourettes and i might have mild odd-.-

  • It is interesting but OCD behavior has just been found to have genetic links to ADHD and yes indecisive is part of the procrastinating aspect pf all people with ADHD. Hard decisions tend to be put off of not dealt with at all because they tend to require emotional work that people with ADHD of all types would often rather not do.

  • Do people with this subset of ADD tend to be obsessive with their thoughts and actions? Also do they tend to be indecisive?

  • @szelle63 I can only speak from 28 years of personal experience: HELL YES!!!!!!!! They are typically one of the defining aspects of their personality. ADHD-inattentive subtype sufferers tend to have incredible abilities to "hyper-focus." If you are unfamiliar with the term, I recommend doing a bit of research on it, it should give you just the information you're looking for.
