  • Thanks for this!

  • :(

  • This is really hard to watch. Next time this happens turn on the hot water in the shower and close the bathroom door for 10 minutes til it gets steamy in there then take that sweet child of yours and bring her in there with you. Let her breathe in the moist air she will immediately get better. I'm a nursing student and my professor told me that remedy. Hospitalization or er doesn't really do much with croup.

  • poor child i feel so bad

  • omg. how can she sleep while breathing roughly like that!

  • in all honesty yes this is good and all. but it kinda pisses me off that your child is having that much difficulty breathing and you are standing there watching. also noticed the child's lips are turning blue. so i hope the video was cut short and child was rushed to the hospital because my daughter was admitted to the hospital for breathing exactly like your child is. and i really hope your child survived.

  • @beckyNadi No need to be so hateful. Pretty sure the child survived given the upload. This is really helpful to parents that aren't sure what to listen for or tell a doctor if they can't get in, & some ERs expose children to even more bugs. Also, it is good the child could get some rest to allow her immune system to fight the illness. Given the clear diagnostic indications noted, it appears that the child is under good medical supervision & the parent filming was obviously watching her closely.

  • thank u for uploading! i've been trying to hear a good example of the "barking seal" cough and they are all so vague, like regular coughs and both of my kids are sick, now I know what to listen for!

  • very helpful, im a nursing student . thanks. hope this baby got the help he needed

  • poor baby.. :( thanks for this postt...

  • thank you for sharing this...this morning my son suddenly coughing with sound like barking seal, He has no other symptoms before this, so quite shocking to hear the coughing... I want to ask, before your daughter got hospitalized for how long she's coughing n breathing like this?at the beginning she start barking coughing or she has other symptomps?thank you so so much

  • Thank you very munch very useful

  • Thank you for sharing this! My son has been coughing horribly and I was concerned about croup. This video has shown me what to watch for and what exactly it looks and sounds like.

  • adorable little girl. We (the medical community) can't thank you enough. this is Very educational.

  • I'm 13 years old and im having croup

  • omg this is so sad :(

  • Thank

You for posting this. !! Poor honey tho kills my

Heart to watch. Very helpful tho !!

  • Signs:

    - Intercostal/subcostal recession

    - Inspiratory & expiratory stridor

    - Abdominal breathing

    - Nasal alae flaring

  • @Tholius This child has significant inspitatory stridor ,but dosn't have expiratory stridor.. stridor is seen only in the inspiration.. not expiration.. what is heard on expiration is wheeze.. LARINGIOTRACHEOBRONCHITIS.. CROUP.! !

  • Oh noo. :(

  • Very informative video. You can really see the retractions in this video, hear stridor, and the "barking" cough. I'm going to show the folks in my nursing class this. Those dummies they have does show the real thing.

  • That is a helpful video, but why is that poor baby just laying there being recorded instead of at the doctor's or ER?

  • @paigie001 i agree with you... i could not stand watch my baby breathing difficulty.

  • omgsh go help this poor child..she screams respiratory distress!! YIkes! Im out of breath just listening to her!

  • thank you for the post

  • thanks for posting this up.

  • Thankyou for your video! Really helped me identify croup in my 6 mnth old son.

  • So my question is, would you be taking you daughter to the ER for those symptoms? or are they minimal enough to keep her home.

  • @mrsahillman Most Croup patients can be managed at home. Only in serious illness u need to be hospitalized. but.. diagnosis must be done by a doctor (most times they will instruct the patient to be home where the patient wud acutally be more safer from OTHER bugs)

  • Yes the video is helpful but this poor child should be in the hospital. Not suffering to be the star of his parents video

  • Shouldn't she be given help?

  • @Sisiyingying Croup patients rely on management at home (mostly) Hospitalization don't help them unless they are in dire need for it.

  • I'm reviewing or an exam on physical assessment with chest and lungs. I've never seen a patient with croup as this is common in children from 1 1/2 -3 years old. I've always had adults/geriatric in my clinical experience. This is invaluable information. Thank you for sharing!

  • Thank you so much for sharing this valuable information for chiropractors like us! I'm learning microbiology and I am documenting on paramyxoviruses and influenza type 1 and 2 and they were talking about croup. This is such a valuable video :)

  • I'm a medical student who's seen croup several times while on my shifts in A&E, but despite that it's really helpful to hear the stridor again (revising for my finals). Thank you for the upload. I imagine that many of my colleagues would find this really helpful.
