  • @EatIt84123 Keep searching YT and you will find lots of medical jargon your ass cannot understand. Ever heard of Excelsior lil boy? LMAO So lost. If you think this is correct. Then you will stay a deadbeat.

  • @kmcl11 I'm not even in the medical field and know exactly what a PICC line is. The fact that you don't know your shit and are on a venue like YOUTUBE asking about this is scary. You need to bow down out of the medical field. I wonder what your employer would think of your lack of knowledge and attitude towards people? We are going to find out.

  • @EatIt84123 My point exactly. You dont know what you are talking about! You take a ramdom video and make an assessment. You are an idiot and indeed don't know what a PICC is.. Proof you know nothing about it. IF you can get a silly vid like this wrong. Then everything else will be wrong.

  • Just horrible! He had his hand in front of the camera at all times!!!!

  • And if the PICC line wasn't actually inserted, then how did he actually flush it?

  • Did anyone else notice he had two different patients? Watch closely at the shirt and pants of the patient. They're different later in the video.

  • This is WAY different than the way my dressing was changed. My nurse always took everything off, cleaned the area with multiple alcohol sticks (not sure what they're called), let it dry, then re-applied everything. :/

  • The demonstrator removed his dirty gloves directly over the sterile field. Then he put on sterile gloves and removed a dirty statlock, applied a 'strerile statlock' without cleaning the area it was to be placed, THEN touched the insertion site with his contaminated gloves. Also, he placed the injection caps without having them primed with saline - injecting air into the vein.

  • Don't we clean the area with Chlorhexidine wand prior to applying the Statlock -- and you forgot to apply the "skin protectant prep pad" prior to applying the Statlock ...

The BIOPATCH has to totally cover the skin. It should not rest on a dressing, tape or SL. -- it defeats the purpose...

This is a great video... thanks for sharing...

  • Just some extra info.

The statlock (SL) has to be removed prior to changing into sterile gloves ... When you're taking off the SL you have to saturate the anchor pads and rub back and forth till it lifts -- do not pull it from the patients skin.Fold the anchor pad so that it won't stick back onto the skin and repeat it on the other side. Then you can take the cath off from the retainer clips.

  • i think the best way to hon the sterile gloves is after you removed the old stat lock to maintain the sterility of the procedure. Remember, the old stat lock cannot be sterile already as this has been soiled and old. That is my point of view being a member of the IV team in a comprehensive hospital. I do insert, care and manage complications of PICC lines.

  • not sterile...

  • Excellent video, thank you very much! The only thing I would do differently is to use a dressing trolley instead of the bed...but thanks to this video I now know what a stat-lock and a bio patch is, and how to change it :)

  • I think that the most important thing to keep sterile is the bio -patch step. Therefore, sterile gloves need to be put on just before you get to this point. Up to that point, clean gloves will suffice. By starting with sterile gloves, and handling old components, the demonstrator runs the risk of contamination of the gloves, and the bio-patch area as a result.

  • check out the securAcath Universal device that utilizes a unique subcutaneous anchoring system for PICC's and CVC's. search under securacath!

  • I have a PICC line in (new) and will have a dressing change soon. Although some professionals said there were contamination issues, i think the video helped me understand what this procedure will be like next week. Thank you,

  • he never flushed the LAD(leur access device's) the caps before he put on the line, therefor he introduced air.

  • incorrect way of taking out the tegaderm..tsk tsk...

  • His hand was in the way on the most intricate parts!

  • Good Job. Nicely done. Thank you

  • are picc lines the same as central lines? And what about hickman?

  • @kmcl11

picc line or peripherally inserted central catheter is also a central line, meaning the end or the tip of the catheter lies on the superion vena cava of the heart but only peripherally inserted like in the elbow or groin... hickman is a central line also which has a catheter tip at the superior vena cava but is tunneled in the subcutaneous tissue and is usually inserted in the chest. This way of insertion minimizes the risk of infection...

  • ha americans have to pay for it hahahaha

  • stat lock, just if you forget, blue side to the sky.

  • Forgot to date, time and intial on the dressing

  • muy bien!

  • I think he has goof general ideas but like someone else had said I notice afew cintaminatiin issues. Also I thought you never use an alcohol swab over an open hub?

  • You didn't prime the clave before replacing?

Sterile gloves to remove old dressing?

  • yes, really use sterile gloves X2 for PICC dressing.

  • Numerous contamination issues!

  • good video, but y is it that if it was a porno video the camera man would get all up in it but here his hands are in the way, damn need one of em to film it so i can see

  • When you put your sterile gloves... You then take the alcool pad, that you had in your hands before without sterile gloves, and open it? Doesn't that mean you're not sterile anymore...?

  • exactly

  • A few suggestions...from a patient.

-when removing the tegoderm, strech the tegaderm, don't pull. pulling hurts, streching is almost painless.

-When removing the statlock, use SWABS not pads. much less pain, just as reliable.

  • We plan to move this video to the channel dapicclineman. So for future videos like these plz go and subscribe to the new channel :)

  • Thank you :)

  • Thanks! It helped me to study for my "skills test."

  • this is a great video!

  • nice job on vid! hey who was the patient in that vid? =D
