@funk192 , I don't see why not, but have not tried this. You may want to contact JMicron support at their website, they have a contact email. If you have it already I would test it out. Please post back with you findings I am curious to know. If you are using RAID you will need to install the drivers prior to installing Windows, When prompted to install a Third Party RAID controler. Press F?? I really dont see why it would not work.
The specification describes a system memory structure for computer hardware vendors to exchange data between host system memory and attached storage devices. AHCI gives software developers and hardware designers a standard method for detecting, configuring, and programming SATA/AHCI adapters. AHCI is separate from the SATA 3Gb/s standard, although it exposes SATA's advanced capabilities (such as hot swapping and native command queuing) such that host systems can utilize them.
The Advanced Host Controller Interface (AHCI) is a technical standard defined by the Intel Corporation that specifies the operation of Serial ATA (SATA) host bus adapters in a non-implementation-specific manner.
RAID, Redundant Array of independent/inexpensive disks
RAID 0 is 2 drive working as 1, the data is writen to both drives at the same time, and the workload is split in half doubling (Respectively) the speed. called Stripe
each drive relies on the other, if 1 drive fails, the data is lost.
this demo was just to show the difference between the 2 in a RAID 0 config, in overclocked, and non-overclocked CPU.
IDE mode is what you want unless you are using SSD drives, or RAID
on some X58 boards there are 2 different SATA controlers, on theses boards the Intel ICH10 ports are all black, the JMB363's are RED. the Intel controler is stock, and the other is intended to relieve the standard controler for other tasks.
@unr3al2004 First which board are you using? Usually the RED SATA ports are JMicron, depending on which board you are using this may differ.. I'm using an EVGA X58 SLI, (E758) so the RED Sata ports on the front of the board are JMB363, and there is a JMB362 eSATA towards the back, and another 362 on the rear I/O , Also unless you are overclocking the CPU, and using a RAID 0 X2 it's not really nesacary. a technical driver install is also nesacary. drivers at Jmicron Site Clean OS require
@unr3al2004 , I does'nt look like it has JMicron Chip, Only ICH10.. the difference is not really a hugh one, but you get can a PCIe RAID card, that will be much better anyway. Unless you using 3-way SLI which is why I am using the 363 RAID, cause I have no more PCIe slots...
jmicron sucks for raid use the intel ich10 for raid 0 1 or 5 and the jmicron for yur sata dvd devices and external devices. You got it @ss backwards thats why the jmicrons one sata port is on the back external. hmmm for external devices. Use the intel matrix storage raaid and enable write caching on the ich10r and yur system will fly. I dont know everything but I been doing this for years. Anything else faster is an add on raid card over 150 bucks. Period!
@logic53 , Actually the one on the back, and above PCIe #1 are the eSATA JMB362, the 2 JMB363s are the 2 red inside ports, If you overclock your CPU on the X58 in this case the E758, it also overclocks the ICH10, which dergades performance, while the JMB363 SATA (NOT) JMB362 eSATA, I did the tests, and went with the best results, I most definatly agree with You on the PCIe add in RAID card, however on the E758 with 3 GTX285s it's just not possible. as the reason I went the JMicron,
@logic53 , Also JMicron has recently released a new driver which was the reason for poor performance in past reviews, it should be revisited, these JMicron chips were new when this board was released, now they have revised the drivers, and are performing quite well. -- They did suck when the board was released. I went directly to JMicron website to get the latest drivers, which are installed at OS install for RAID drivers, most peoples issues are they dont use the drivers properly.
Does any1 know if I can install a jmb363 sata card when I already have another jmb363 onboard ide port at same time?

im new to this i hope u can give time to answer my question my motherboard is msi eclipse sli
in my bios there is
RAID MODE
(and options are)
RAID, IDE and AHCP < wat are those three? its set to IDE and im using SATA harddrive.
and what is ICH10 vs. JMB363?
and what is
