It took me an hour to find this song after hearing it from the film. Not knowing the title of the film or the title of this song. I couldn't help but start crying with the message of the song.
Love this super cool film and really brilliantly filmed video , all true in life nothing HONNA change till you wise up or i could say face up to the problem and sort it xx 5 super dooper star vid sniff sniff Twace x
The song is Wise Up by Amee Mann. I've read that the movie was made around the song. It's the part where all the lines meet and you think the movie's over. Then it spreads out again for almost another hour. Seen this movie 10-15 times. It is absolutely fantastic. Epic. And I love Amee Mann.
does anyone know what the piece of music is called during the dramatic buildup of things, *spoiler alert* when it is raining(not frogs), when the cop is trying to find his gun he dropped in the bushes and the gameshow is approaching climax? *spoiler over*
and/or who composed it?
i can not for the life of me find it, on youtube or when im trying to find information, i just find aimee mann songs with lyrics, while this one is purely ambient and instrumental.
I watched "Magnolia" on DVD the other day for the first time and I really liked it. My two favorite scenes was when Tom Cruise was giving his "Seduce and Destroy" seminar and the end where all the characters where singing "Wise Up". This is a very beautiful song. I like it and would like to own the soundtrack.
A modern classic in American cinema. I did find this adorable woman that MW portrays. And I will never never leave her or let her down...so help me..My God.
Almost in the film i Cried but the Frogs Stoped me What a biblcle moment but also WHAT A HEART SOUL renching Song !!!! BRILL film FANTASTIC Song Track I thank YOU for SHARING with me us and dont forget Them lol not going too STOP
The whole 8:2 references and the frogs deal with the concept that unbelievable things happen all the time yet people still say "I dont believe it". eveidenced by when the frogs fall and the camera zooms in on the picture frame with the statement " but it did happen"...the director was answering the question you had in your mind which was "frogs ffalling from the sky cant happen
"...the concept is a metaphor for the issue that things happen to us in families all the time that those on the outside "dont believe can happen" and deny that they do. I.e rapes, mental manipulation, abuse, drugs etc.
Deus Ex Machina. Look it up. It's not exactly the same as a deus ex machina, but very similar. In this case I think it means several things: 1. a metaphor for the absurdity of life 2. a shared experience among all of the characters to tie it all together. 3. a way of jarring you out of self-absorption showing you how being so self-absorbed can become silly if taken too seriously. The frog scene was absolutely necessary.
Paul Thomas Anderson movie w/ great songs by Aimee Mann. Not many people know she came from the band 'Til Tuesday' which had the hit 'Voices Carry'. "Hush, hush... keep it down now babe. Voices Carry" from the 80's
I own both Vanilla Sky and Magnolia, and I have a very small DVD collection! I agree. On the whole, Magnolia is a better movie, but Vanilla Sky is STILL very very good.
such a bizarre but absolutely fantastic movie between this part and the raining frogs its insane but genius
