Back in the 80s one day at S.E.T.I. there was great celebrating & much popping of corks until someone realised that they were just picking up Radio Foetus. JUST ..?????
This man haunts me since the mid 80s....Still obsessed by this music. saw him 1996 at Überschall Fest and several times in hannover and Bielefeld....damn...Jim, where are u now?
J.G. Thirwell has an ability to find and combine sounds that were never meant to be heard together. His ability to orchestrate music is like some kind of modern day Bach.
I see what you are saying, but early T.G. was more along the lines of experimental noise. Thirlwell has taken their works as a starting point and elevated to a higher level, to the point where calling his music "industrial" almost fails to do it justice.
@violentinthedark23 He's not using those two notes for noise, he uses it to begin the beat of the song. I've never heard anyone orchestrate like he does. This song is brilliantly assembled.
I just keep comming back to this song, something about it is just so compelling. That and the fact that Foetus doesn't get old, It's been my favorite band for about 10 years now, and i still think he rocks!
It occured to me, were you listening to the music when you thought "this guy sounds a bit nasal, and he looks kinda like liam gallagher" Foetus has not, and will not ever be about his voice. He is not a traditional singer, but something in his music gives us his fans something we could NEVER get anywhere else. The man may well be a genius.
i dont understand why people think NIN when refering to industrial, when we all know reznor borrowed his style of singing from Thirlwel and Watts of PIG....NIN is crap industrial
Its ironic that he is doing animated videos now considering he does the theme for VENTURE BROS on adult swim he also is a good producer and remixer for other artists
This...is one of the greatest things I have ever seen. Now you may say I need to get out more but I say you cant go wrong with Foetus. I once sold cranberries to J.G. Thirwell at a Norwegian farmers market, he's really short and he smelled like cinnamon.
