When my husband was made terminal with cancer he decided to plan his own fun-er-al. He chose this song to be played as we were carrying him out of the service. As you can imagine, like the song says "here was not a dry eye in house". It was one of his favourite Meatloaf songs & there were many. Not a Dry Eye, while not my absolute favorite, is still an amazing song. I really don't get how my class mates can listen to stuff like death metal or rap when there's music such as this in the world...it's depressing when you show them something like this, and they just go WTF what's this shit...

Meat Loaf always gave 100% without complaining. He was, and remains a real professional. I've never heard of him moaning in the papers about how hard he had to work or how he had no privacy. He just did the job he was paid to do. Modern acts could learn a lot from this giant of a performer.

Well that could also be because Meatloaf is one of a kind. There are not many people who make similar music. With the other bands, they are part of a popular genre who have at least one big competitor who people are divided over. Meatloaf doesn't have that competition. I've been a Meatloaf fan all my life and when he first released this song I swore NOBODY would ever do a cover that came close.... until I heard Rhydian's cover. The reason I like Rhydian's is that he hasn't changed the way the song should be sung, and he's not tried to "make it his own", he's just sang a bloody good song very well - and after all, Jim Steinman contacted Rhydian after seeing him do "I'd do anything" on the X Factor so they must've liked what they heard! BUT... Meat IS a legend!!

Meat Loaf's instrumental for this song is so good - Opera Rock, one genre made by mixing two genres I love. And I love his strong vocals.
