  • WOAh! cool last name dude! it's my last name too. probably no relation, but still cool!

  • OH MY GOD MY NAME'S ABBY! Wait, no sorry. It's Drew.

  • It's like Ben Folds but without all the swearing.

  • I'm-a-mikahlarmbarrdo!

  • Hey guys, i'm also a musician trying to make it big on youtube, if you could, please check out my original song I wrote on my channel.

Like if you like it and so other people can see. :)

  • This song has my name in it! Except I spell it Abi. (my full name is Abigail) Great song! :D

  • Great song :) I really like the story behind this. My dad is just like Abby's parents. He constantly calls me & brother asking what we're up to. I can understand that he want to make sure we're okay... but he really should cool it, at least with my brother. He's 21, he can look after himself.

  • HEY! That's my name!!!

  • My name's Abby! :-)

  • 5 phones were broken at the beginning of this video

  • This is a song I can listen to over and over and over and over and over and over.

  • It sounds like Abby got in a plane accident and died and became a ghost or an angel. That's why she's not gonna call and that's why she can watch them from the rooftops.

  • :) My name is Abby

  • @AbbyLovegood7 Me too! :D

  • @AbbyLovegood7 Lucky you (: You don't hear to many songs called "Elsa Never" :P

  • This song is so sad but so lovely.

  • What's your drummer's name?

  • wow. This song seems like the story of my life. I mean, my name is Cris-Marie not Abby but still. It's very good.

  • is this a true 'story', maybe that's a stupid question and maybe you've already answered it but I'm just curious. Keep being an awesome genious!

  • @MikeLombardoMusic Great stuff man you have totally are be coming the next Ben Folds Oh also what is the keyboard slash piano you use(brand and type)?

  • @BluePaintersTape Roland RD300SX. The branding is covered up by blue painters tape.

  • @MikeLombardoMusic Thanks, also like how openly you answer my question, you my hopefully in the near future friend called mike is definitely not what I call a robot partner which is a partner on youtube that ignore the fans and treat them like numbers instead of people, but I knew you were a cool guy and really that's what's youtube is for, making new friends. : )

  • I love this song!

  • why are they on the roof?

  • this song is simply amazing!

  • I love this song! :)

  • is it just how i am viewing/hearing it or does Abby die in the end?

  • is it just how i am viewing/hearing it for does Abby die in the end?

  • @LyricsToMyLife Basically, the way I'm reading it, Abby's parents are helicopter parents -- always hovering over her, forcing her to call and check in, etc. The constant strain of living under her parents' excessively tight reins finally makes her snap. She gets her stuff packed, breaks her phone, and watches through the roof as her parents get more and more worried that she doesn't call. She finally takes her suitcase and runs away -- this is the price her parents paid to find that Abby was OK.

  • Am I missing an artistic reason for you playing on the roof, or was it just a "Hey, I think this would look really cool not on the ground" moment?

  • @TheLaurlyn Instead of going home to her family, she is a mega creeper and sits on the city rooftops watching them waiting nervously around the phone. It's in the last verse.

  • Wow, this is the best stuff I've heard in a while. A lot going on melodically. I'd like to cover this on guitar. I gotta say I'm a little scared, though, haha!

    Rock on Mike!! : )

  • Alex looks like he is getting into that bass just a little too much ^^

  • Abby sounds like a Manic Pixie Dreamgirl. (e.g. Margo Roth Spiegelman)

  • @es6395 *High Fives*

  • @es6395 I think Margo was John's argument against the Manic Pixie Dreamgirl stereotype, to be fair. She seems perfect at first because we view her through the extremely biased viewpoint of Quentin, and we later find out she's kind of a selfish asshole, and he hasn't 'imagined her complexly' :)

  • This song tells the story of my life.

  • I can't get over how much I love this song and the high saturation of some parts of the video. It is lovely :D

  • my obsession with this song is starting to become somewhat unhealthy...

  • 3:14- where the sidewalk ends. Great job!

  • HEy brother, that's my favorite Mike Lombardo Song, I hope you will come soon to Mexico, you rock my friend. I hope someday I will become a great musician, now I'm 16, but when I will be like 18, I want to study performance so I will become a great drummer. Bye. M.L. ROCKS!!!

  • Saw you last night at The Space, again. Wanted to say how awesome this song is, and how well it fits my NaNoWriMo project. Well, if Abby was born in Medieval Wales, and was the crown princess, and her name was Ani.

    You are awesome. That's all.

  • look at you being a rebel on the roof.

    I really like this video.

    and the song is amazing.

  • 0:03 silly bandz!

  • I feel like Abby is like Margo Roth Spiegelman.

    What does Youtube think?

  • @UnreasonablyMuggle OH MAI GOSH YES!!!

  • easily your best song. perfectly captures your style.

  • I loved meeting you on the tour, and I love this song. This and Hey Molly are two of the few songs i never get tired of.

You said to let you know how i liked your cd - i loved it. Ive had to listen to you on youtube though cuz my dad kidnapped the cd lol.

  • If Paper Towns was ever made into a movie- this would have to be on the soundtrack.

  • I am listening to this on repeat. I'll admit, before the Triple Rainbow Awesome Tour, I wasn't your biggest fan by any means, but I really really love your music now!!! :D

  • THis sounds a lot like the song "Sunny Came Home" by Shawn Colvin to me for some reason...I love it, though.

  • and I think I have a new favorite song.

  • Wow you did a great job on this! I love how your playing the piano on the roof :)

  • JUILIAN!!!!

    <3

  • I'm going ti see you play live on friday. I AM SO EXCITED

  • Watching her drop her cell phone always makes me go "nooo! The cell phone! Don't break it!" *little addicted to her cell phone*

This is a good song =)

  • Part sad, part warning, part creepy, completely fantastic.

    Beautifully filmed.

Thank you for writing music and for being such a down-to-earth person when I met you on tour. Very, very, very glad to be seeing you on the Triple Rainbow Awesome Tour!

  • I don't understand the story behind this. Am I daft, or is anyone else confused? Did Abbey's phone break, and that's why she didn't call, or is there a deeper meaning that I didn't catch?

  • @swimgirl10760 She broke it on purpose. She's sick of her parents checking in on her.

  • This was beyond amazing, Abby never is my favorite song of yours. I can't even begin to imagine how amazing the video would have been if you would've had more money at your expense((: Great job!

  • Hey Mike, I'd love to make a pro music video for you of this song. My future wife's name is Abbie. When she was a kid one leg was amputated just above the knee, so she only has one. When we heard your song we truly loved it. It's very Ben Folds. We changed the lyrics from "They watch her all the time" to "She's only got one leeggg", for fun, but Abbie does feel like they've watched her her entire life, although you can imagine why. But seriously, would love to do it. let me know.

  • Hey Mike!

I know I haven't commented in a long time. Life keeps you busy. 'Abby Never' is one of my favorite songs. But, this video didn't really catch my interest. I think your original one was much better. Because that's what it was, original. It was rough and unedited, there was no set. I think it suits your creativity better. Now, before anyone posts comments about me 'ragging on Mike', that's not my intention lol

I merely stating that I liked the original video better.

    Bonne chance!!

  • I listen to this song atleast every other day like 4x, ITS SO HARD to get tired of this song. makes me think of the beatles, i'm going to figure it out on guitar. PLEASE KEEP MAKING ORIGINAL MUSIC. you inspire me

  • This is an awesome song! Can't stop listening to it. You are amazing!

  • I heard Cold As Ice by Foreigner on the radio the other day and at first I thought it was this song and I was quite excited for you.

When the vocals came in I was kind of disappointed.

    (love the rooftops!)

  • Great song and video! :D

  • really, really, liked this. :) mr. Lombardo, you've mixed two of my main passions in life, youtube and piano playing. you are my favourite youtuber right now. thank you for existing. :P

  • @toastburntbread thank you for watching!

  • Absolutely loved it. This is one of my favourite songs and I really think the video worked well. <3

  • Your music is good. Your voice is addicting too...

  • What is the story to the song exactly then? Cause I only half get it, I may be being dumb, I'm kinda tired

  • wow this was quite intense.

  • fabulous video. :)

  • I loved it!

The high contrast really helped set the mood, and I loved how you reused the phone dropping clips.

  • i loved the rooftop idea :) insanely awesome

  • You never fail to impress me, Mike!

  • The most important thing is that you enjoy the finale project of this.

Then again it's good if your audience likes it, and I think you've succeeded in that too.

  • turned out grate glad u could pull it off, u should get this on itunes make some money back id buy it

  • 3:03

    THIS

    IS

    SPARTAAAAAA

  • I love the way you play the piano! Its great to hear and watch, you just look so into it and happy.

  • LOOOVE IT. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Seriously. First of all, I just love this song. Secondly, the video was SO COOL. The lighting was cool, too... kinda too-bright. I don't know how to describe it, but I LIKED it. Can't wait for more music videos!

  • i loved it idk what insanetotheextreme is talking abbout...he is insaneinthehead

  • that poor phone

  • Awesome song and a really cool video! Very brave being on all those rooftops! I'm too scared of heights for that!

  • Wonderful. As always.

  • 3:03 EPIC.

  • I love the polarized effect on each image. Great job!

  • Bit disappointed to be honest...

  • @InsaneToTheExtreme By what? We did this for free between 2 states. We didn't have the normal budget of $10,000 or so that it takes to make a video. Unless you're paying...

  • @MikeLombardoMusic Oh, I didn't know you were doing it for free!?! That changes things, I just meant there was a lot of build up for it beforehand... Don't get me wrong; I was still pretty impressed but just thought at the time you must have done it on a budget etc

  • @MikeLombardoMusic your music TRUELY inspires me. I can relate to your failures man, i've tried starting over 30 bands. you should of won that contest. This song could be SOOOOO BIGGGG, and i usually play hard rock. When I get signed to a major label and have money I will sign you in a heartbeat.

  • @MikeLombardoMusic I find it looks like a true blue studio produced video. ^^ Better than some others actually. Not all videos have to be flashy and expensive.

  • You reminded me a little of John Butler in this song.

  • amazing video and song! i have to write a song for my music gcse and i was wondering if you could give me any tips on how to get started?

  • I was initially worried when I found out you were making a music video, because I thought the story was so specific that the video might get boring very quickly. But I think you kept it fresh. I feel like each shot was interesting. I particularly enjoyed the stool to piano moment (3:03) and on. The one thing I would've liked to see would be some reflection of the family's anxiousness. Otherwise, I'm with TheManyFacesOfMe. A Hey Molly video would be great. Fabulously done, as always.

  • sweet video everyone involved! I enjoyed it much!

  • I always play music on my roof. Seriously, I have a video doing it. xD

  • Mike, congratulations on a very well produced video. Thank everyone who helped you on this one. We can feel the love you all put into it.

  • LoveLoveLoveLove.

  • this is an awesome video.!! i luv it.!! :)

  • well done. I can tell you guys put a lot of effort into it. And I haven't heard that one yet, so it was nice to have a video to go with it! And I saw below that this was shot in three different states? Nice.

  • Ah! Pretty damn awesome. I approve.

  • This was really well done. Splendid job. Only thing: you should have brought the GRAND piano onto the roof.

  • Nice work Mike, it's good to know you didn't fall off the roof while making that video.

  • Awesome work Sir Mike!

  • That's quite an amazing music video you have there z

  • You're perfect.

  • i want to see a music video for Hey Molly! :)

  • You are officially a rock star now. Awesome.

  • I LOVE it!!!!!!

  • kinda wished hayley would have played abby but aw well

  • fantastic!

  • I love this song and the video is great! Good work guys!

  • AMAZING for an independantly made video

  • I never quite recognized how messed up the story in that song was.

  • Love this song Mike :)

  • Weren't you a bit concerned about putting expensive instruments on a slanty roof? xD I love the song.

  • i love this song! i always find myself singing it after work everyday! =) that's how often i listen to your songs...love the video too, it's perfect for this song!

  • Mike Lombardo and the Blonde Floppy hair boys. New band name. :)

Cool video! I kept waiting for you to fall off the roof! ;)

  • Great job! The effort you put into this was well worth it! Big fan of the slow motion bass jump and piano smash; nice touch to that build up.

  • One thing:

All the hard work and time you said it took for this was definitely worth it. This is pretty fridgin' awesome! :D

  • This video will be on of my links of the day in my BEDA post. No one reads it but still. :)

I love the way you put it all together.

  • My only complaints: a tripod is visible at times and the colouring was a tad weird.

    :D

  • I love this. It looks like a legit music video not just a youtube music video... if you know what i mean

  • YOU KIDS GET OFF THAT ROOF BEFORE YOU BREAK YOUR NECKS!

  • You're legit on a roof!

  • This turned out awesome! Good job, you guys.

  • This was great! Good job!

  • Great job! Keep it up :D

  • Mike,

The video Is awesome, I really Enjoyed it =)

  • awesome video Mike!

  • Thought it was great except when you showed Abby dropping her cell phone the second time. Felt like you were just reusing footage since you hadn't filmed enough. Other than that, loved the video.

  • @HopefullyShrinking We actually filmed way too much. The phone being dropped is basically the entire point of the story. When it's shown in the beginning it's a flash forward.

  • @MikeLombardoMusic Ah... I did not get that from the video. Thanks for clarifying.

  • Loved loved loved it!!!

    so cool

love how you filmed on the roof!

  • NOOOOO it stopped RIGHT in the middle of it!!! @MikeLombardoMusic will this be on iTunes or somewhere eventually for enjoyment on my ipod?

  • @strater55 It's already on iTunes, on his album Songs For A New Day.

  • Wow! I'm really impressed! I love what you did with the saturation and brightness! The shakiness of the handheld cameras really added to the feel of the video. It helped me feel Abby's frustration, although I'm not entirely sure why. Despite being in different states, you pulled of the instrument shots very nicely. Again, I"m impressed!

P.S. Thank you for NOT falling off the roof and getting hurt. That would have been very tragic!

  • Great song and Awesome video!

  • I didn't like how you were always looking into the camera. It's not that you have an ugly face though lol. it just didn't feel like you had as much emotion. And how sometimes you were without your piano :O I think you really shine when your shown playing with it!

other than that though, it was pretty good :)

  • This came out great, guys. Nice job considering none of you actually together. Clearly you planned this out well. :]

  • loveloveloved it. you are so cool. (only thing i wouldve done was to have one pan of you playing your piano and then to abby further down the roof, even though you probably didnt shoot those at the same time)

  • I don't like how some of it is 16:9 and others are 4:3, You can also see the camera man and equipment either in the shadows or plain daylights. I did however like the high contrast/ saturation you put on some of the videos, however that to cut in and out. On your next music video (If there is a next one) i would strive for a little more consistency. Good first attempt!

  • Mike, you look like such a badass <3 Great video, great song... one day I'll figure out what it means. Guess I'll just have to keep listening! Keep up the awesome work!

  • Roof piano! That's so awesome! It's a good looking video :)

  • I notice you aren't wearing your glasses in videos much anymore.. hmm?

Btw, this is awesome! Two thumbs up.

  • Whoah! How'd you get the instruments on the roof that's so cool!!

  • Awesome :D

  • Your scenes on the pitched roof made me a bit uneasy. I guess you are not as afraid of heights as me then. ;)

The video turned out great, though. I love the vibrant colours in Abby's scenes.

  • Great job ! :]

    I love the rooftops.

  • So good. So so good. [=

You are a braveling rockin' out on that rooftop and all. [=

  • Dude, awesome. Am sharing this on facebook.

  • Awesome video. I love when you come out with music videos because I'm pretty bad at listening to lyrics...I hear the music first and will sing along without even realizing what I'm singing, but your videos help me get past that and and actually hear the whole meaning of the song as opposed to just the tune.

    u rawkkkkk!

  • Nice song Mike! :)

  • LIKELIKELIKELIKE

  • Lovelovelove

  • Old school show on the roof. I love it. Beautiful video for a beautiful song.

  • I'm amazed by the falling cell phone shot every time.

  • A thought occurred to me. Since Alex is prominently featured on bass, does this mean that Ellen has gone the way of Pete Best and John Rutsey (only on bass)?

  • I wish I could thumb this video up a bajillion times. Great work Mike. :)

  • Lovely. Just lovely.

  • Great job Mike. Keep up the good work.

  • I love this song so much. <3 The video was really great!

  • Ahhh this was sooo cool! I loved the way you made the shots of Abby really saturated. It made her hair look so yellow, like it was glowing.

This has always been one of my top 3 favorite MiLo songs, and this totally out did my expectations.

Also, Alex has some seriously beautiful hair. It's like a shampoo commercial.

  • Piano rocking on a rooftop? Are you insane?

Really, it was a great video. I do love what you did with the stop motion and the color saturation. I am also incredibly in love with this song, even though it makes me sad.

  • I love the way the colors pop!! And also the little bee bop that the guitar player has going on. :)

  • the ony thing extra i would have liked to see would have been a sceen where all three of you guys are playing at once

most vids i see now adays with bands have that shot and i really like it cuz it shows everyone at once

  • @henry12350 We're actually in different states, so it's actually multiple rooftops, which is why we don't appear together.

  • @MikeLombardoMusic ohhh allright that makes sense thanks for letting me know bro!

  • ...this video isnt playing for me!

Is there a link somewhere else?

  • haha i thought that was Jillian i had to look twice

  • cute video lol

  • That was a really well shot music video! I love how everything was over-saturated, it looks great. And this is possibly my favorite of your songs [:
