I think Dandy was by 'The Kinks' but this doesn't sound like them. I prefer The Kinks version.

I used to think that too but, spending any time on forums and reading reviews of his era, all I seem to read is misguided criticism of his characterisation. Often people don't see the subtle humour, and they misjudge his 'serious' approach to the character.

Wonderful tribute to a wonderful man! I actually got to meet Jon Pertwee in America, in 1987. He was very friendly, respectful, and altogether gentlemanly towards Doctor Who fans. If he thrived off of adulation, so be it - he deserved it! The third Doctor will always be my favourite.

I like the Doctor Whos from Pertwee 1973 to Tom Baker 1977.

Somehow the atmosphere of the show was better and the quality of the shows were driving along and getting better and better. I thought that later on in the Baker years the effects were getting worse than they had been before. I remember K-9 shooting at something and they just chromakeyed a big red diamond in the middle of the screen. Maybe the show was loosing money i dont know.

whenever i watch jon or tom in dr who I think "why isn't this man the prime minister?"...to me they both represent the "ubermensch",the ultimate human being,the embodiment of all that is JUST & RIGHT...I have yet to watch a dr.who story where i think "no,that's not right"...EVERY SINGLE TIME they get it right,though their female companions probably could've told them sooner...Dr.Who,the greatest humanitarian statement ever televised.
