I think Tricia was a good addition to the show...esp w/ Mary gone. She had a good relationship with the whole family. I liked the ep after this one where Mary was jealous of Tricia....a natural feeling of the once only daughter.

As for Jeff not looking like the rest. I disagree. Both Mary and Jeff looked like Donna and Alex. Shelley and Paul looked like they could be the offspring of Carl and Donna. IMHO casting did a great job!

Patty Petersen (Tricia) was Paul Petersen's (Jeff) real life sibling and was added to the show to replace Fabares, who was leaving to pursue a film career.

As the episode continues, the Stones eventually find Tricia's uncle, who informs them that her parents are dead. The uncle arranges to have the Stones adopt Tricia.

Patty Petersen keeps her personal life private and doesn't make public appearances.

I couldnt follow the show as I wasnt born till later that year. Did Trisha become the new Cousin Oliver (Brady Bunch) or Sevin (Married with Children) as a boost when the other kids got older ? Was it a good addition, or just jumping the shark?

This January 1963 episode introduced Trisha,who remained on the show till the end.Later that same year Bary Livingston joined the cast of My Three Sons,so 1963 marked two cases of younger siblings of former youngest cast members joining the shows.:-)

As far as I'm concerned,this was a good addition to the Donna Reed show.Trisha was a lovely,charming little girl.

She was my own age,and the first girl on TV I ever had any kind of a crush on.

Thanks for giving the information about Patty Petersen.She always loved her brother and always wanted to be with him on the Donna Reed show.After she turned 8 she got a chance to audition.I think she was written in as a regular because Shelley Fabares wanted to leave the series as a regular after year 5.Trisha couldn't fill Shelley's void but she was charming in her own way.(BTW,if you got that info from Wikkapedia I was the one who supplied it.)

I am also casting a vote for more episodes with Trisha.I loved her when in 1964 I was a nine-year old boy realizing girls were...OK and she was a nine-year old girl on TV.

She was my earlist TV Crush.I thought she was cuter in her way than Shelley Fabares was in hers.She was really smart,too-on and off the screen.When she could be she was really nice.

I am still wishing to be able to see some of the Season 6 episdoes with Trisha that I remember fondly from my cherrished childhood.

Thank you so much for this video-clip.I missed this episode-as well as Three Is A Family,the followup-in 1963...and if anyone missed these episodes they would have absolutely no idea where Trisha came from.And anyone who tuned in on the Donna Reed show for the first time after the summer of 1963 would think Trisha was always a family member.

I was one eight-year-old boy who liked having an eight-year-old girl join the cast.
