dammit! friend, I was never aware of this risk, but seeing your video, I saw that it actually can happen to anyone. For it is natural to start flight without IDLE on! but man .. my sincere condolences for his fall, but always think of the positve side, nobody got hurt, and helicopters can always buy another! a big hug of pilots from Brazil!
500 bucks geez, could buy a whole new helicopter for that!!! But thats what suck about flying the big ones compared to 300 and 400 sized helis..The parts are so damn expensive..80 bucks for new rotor blades, and 200 bucks for a battery..CRAZY!!!
$279 for that pack???? WTF?? Shit man, there's a dozen batteries on the market that will perform just as well for a FRACTION of that price!!! NO LiPo pack on the fucking planet is worth $279 unless it comes with a Vegas hooker to suck my pole after a day of flying!
Aside from that, I forgot to switch the idle up on my Trex 500 a couple weeks ago and went inverted about 20 feet up... but I saved it JUST inches above the ground. Whew! :)
Is there a HITEC sticker on your helicopter? Now I know why it crashed! Who builds parts of that manufactur into his helicopter? I don't know anyone, and I know why!
Simulator will teach you a lot... In the sim, i have forgotten many times to idle up. BUT when you need to pay The sting will never let you forget... It is the cost of tuition to learn how to fly. Imagine if you were flying a real HELI and was like >> OH I forgot to hit that button.. OPPS.
Yes the Simulator has taught me a lot. I have not crashed since. You are right, it's one thing to crash in the sim and a completely different thing in real life. The crash sound if very realistic in the sim. My stomach still turns when I crash in the sim
aaaaaaaaah, lol. love the writing "guess who forgot idle up"! i know how u feel. i am a beginner and was learning to fly with the nose facing me. i couldn't judge what way the heli was so i just accelerated and then it went forward and then i got scared and put the throttle down the whole way and it hit a plant in front of me. wrecked the 4mm feathering shaft and bent the main shaft. not thhat bad but i have to wait 2 weeks for the parts. i had a copterx 450 ae v2
To everyone that is commenting on the cost of repairs. I wanted to clarify... It cost me 150 dollars to fix the Heli. I had it flying the next day. I fiberglassed the canopy and used touch up paint to fix it, my battery was fine and is still fine. I replaced the main shaft and blades, and landing skids. Due to it being a 600 the parts are beefy and took the crash well. I have not crashed it since.

5 mins later... EBAY! A PERFECT HELI NO DAMAGE WHAT SO EVER! FOR 3000 BIG ONES some spoilt little chubby brat on his birthday...hangs himself lol..damn where do i make this crap up..
cool nice heli :) i ant fly mine i had an accident with my spent 4 hours in hospital blade cought my finger when i was repearing it loool hit idle up and it throw a looney in my room (Trex 450 GF SE) :p im new to it all only broke 6 servos and loads blades lol
thats a nice heli ,too bad for the damage lesson learn and improve , i have a raptor 90 and trex 700 pro , crashing is ok you learn and make it better .. you wanna sell that let know ??
Custom painted canopy. Not sure why it was that much, but it looks really cool. I forget the name of the company that paints them. I just use the white stock canopy now. It is cheaper.
Idle up holds the heli's throttle at a constant RPM so that you can reverse the pitch of the blades(when putting it upside down) without the motor winding down which enables it to hover inverted.
Idle up means that the throttle can be used while the helicopter is inverted or upright. If it is not on the helicopter will do exactly what happened to mine.
This exact thing happened to me today with my T-Rex 250. I ended up "landing" inverted into some very tall thick grass. I'm talking 8 ft tall dried grass I had to hack my way through. No damage to this 250 and I just continue to fly it.
If I had enough money, I would buy me a patch of land and grow this grass to fly my helis over. Seriously, this type of grass was so tall and thick, I bet you would have only damaged your T-Rex 600's blades and the rest would have been fine.
i did that with a 450sev2 at about 60 or so feet but was able to bring in back level upright. it was maybe the softest crashes yet only bent shafts and one servo died.
Very sorry to see your crash! A beautiful heli and you clearly know how to fly it. All I have done yet is flip a few times but in preparation for getting it upside down I formed the habit of going to idle up before take off.
For that exact reason, becasue it is big and expensive. I have a 450 as well. There is nothing like a 600 buzzing over your head at 55 MPH. The bigger helicopters are much more stable and easier to work on and maintain. Personal preference.
Do this. Mode 0= flat zero throttle, Mode2=3D throttle. Engage Mode2 on the ground before takeoff. This way you will never forget to "idle up". I have done what you just did. :)
Ouch bro. I think the canopy is the least of your problems.
